Night City is too peaceful.

Everytime I erase a group of Tygers or Valentinos, It would be cool to get a phone call or txt message with sort of a threat "hey sucka you killed my brother/cousin, you'll pay for this" but no one seems to bother

Yeah, I was making polite conversation with a Maelstromer late in the game and he never said, "Hey, aren't you the guy who murdered a few hundred of my fellow gang-members?"

Literally, two of the first screenshots for the game showed what seems to be NPCs shooting guns, but I guess it's the player's fault for having high expectations

This actually happens in AC Valhalla. They jump out of the bushes screaming revenge for a family member. So I kill them. Then another family member probably plans revenge for them and then I kill them and then another family.... Honestly, in AC VAlhalla I've probably eradicated several extended families.

Sorry, this makes no sense. You want the majority of civilians to be gun-toting badasses? I'm happy to suspend disbelief for games but this is totally unrealistic.
Normal people run.
Not necessary everyone being straight up badasses, but ready to defend themselves or property. Much more realistic than what we have now.

Keep an eye on the commercials playing on the tv (especially the ones with the cartoon dogs) Yeah, they pretty much tell everyone to make sure you have your firearm before you leave the house.

In the real world, armed people do not fight back automatically when someone starts shooting in their vicinity. Deliberately engaging in a fire fight requires a certain mind set, which very few people have to call on. So yes the "run away" or "hide" thing makes sense. Even if most people are armed, most people don't want to start shooting at other people as a first response.

What is annoying is that if you bump into someone too hard then the civilians start running around screaming you are a murderer. Then if you have civilian "aggro" and get to close to police they aggro and you trigger warnings and oh look the broken police AI is now attacking you. In general the police response to V is totally out of synch with what else is happening in the city - V accidentally shoots/stabs someone and half-dozen cops appear and start shooting. Gang members have 2 dead cops and half a dozen civilians and not a cop in sight. I mean if a gang member shoots a civilian in a fire fight, that's fine, but you even point your gun at them you get a warning - and a swarm of cops if you shoot them because they stood up and walked into your line of fire instead of cowering sensibly like all the plebs 2 blocks away....
Not as a first response. But Night City feels like it's supposed to be a trigger happy place. People are high and armed to the teeth. Ads advertising guns. Plenty of violence around. Almost like an exaggerated Spaghetti Western. People should be used to violence. Means if you want you car to be safe, be ready to open fire if some gangbanger decides to make extra cash on dope.

Of course, even beyond that behavior is far from satisfying. Rudimentary at best, at worst it doesn't make a lick of sense. Police system is among the biggest offenders. There's no consistency whatsoever.

Night City might be a crime infested hellhole with a sky-high death rate, but it is not the Purge.

The intro sequence mentions a murder rate of around 30 in a day as being "sturdy". That would put it around twice the rate of the worlds currently most dangerous city, Tijuana. A vast majority if this is gang-on-gang warfare, shop-owners generally do not pull out a shotgun to fend off extortion attempts. Probably because the cartels would make an example of them.

From the missions in CP2077, you often come across what happens when citizens in Night City "defend their property". The gang comes back in force and wipes out your entire household / homeless camp. The citizens that can afford it instead hires a merc like V to even the score without as much risk of reprisal.

It's not that simple. You don't need to hire a merc to fend off some small time cowboys, though. Besides, the city is plagued by gangs. Shops should be someone's turf and people just pay "protection" money on regular basis to keep their business and to have less troubles with gangs. Of course if you aren't protected and try to fight off organized crime, results will be awful.

Point being, it doesn't get in the way of the idea that people aren't armed and don't use their weapons enough in NC.

When would random "civilians" use their guns though? They can't shoot the gangs, as that would just invite reprisal. That leaves random non-gang thugs.

If you get stopped on the street by a non-gang thug with a gun pointed at you, are you going to try to quick-draw on him or are you just going to give him your wallet? Would a random civilian in Night City pull a gun to help defend a random stranger being mugged? Knowing that the random stranger might have an older brother who runs with the local gang, going around being John Wayne seems a sure way to an early grave (unless you actually have the skills to back it up like V does).

I think the "run and hide" reaction is far more reasonable for all the randomly generated people on the streets the game is populating the city with. Perhaps there should be some non-gang "tough guys" sprinkled in there that would actually go into combat mode when appropriate, but for your average non-gang person in Night City, pulling a gun is the worst survival strategy.

Or if you kill too much gang members they can assault and try to kill you with an organized attack

Of course if you aim your gun into someone's face, they won't be able to do much unless psychos. We don't need to make every pedestrian aggro at the first sight of a gun, but we need more of these:

1) You pull someone out of a car and try to drive away - if the owner isn't neutralized (lethal or non-lethal way), he might open fire on you.
2) You damage someone's car or stand on the roof or whatever. Owner should get angry, get out of a car, aim his gun at you or even start shooting.
3) We need cowboys injected into the crowds. You start firefight on the streets or in a shop, they might join in.
4) Bump into someone not nice, they might aggro, including using guns.
5) Pull your gun nearby chilling guys, they might threaten your to holster it or you will get your ass kicked. If 20 years old Gothic can do that and it looks believable, why Cyberpunk can't?

From top of my head. And it's only regarding folks on streets. There are many more opportunities to make the city feel more dangerous.

Wow, the marketing for this game was just pure BS from start to finish.

1) Perfect cop response. Cops are aplenty and they're everywhere. I don't think they should send an entire police station to put me down because I killed a bunch of fellas in some god forsaken apartment building.
2) Pedestrians are unarmed and run away in panic if you start messing around. Instead nearly everyone should be armed and majority should start fighting back if you try to intimidate or attack them. Right now they just walk around lazily or crunch in fear.
3) People should try to stand up for themselves because there's little help from officials. Means, if I pull a gun on someone, they should pull a gun in response, as well as a bunch of folks around them. It shouldn't be a gang only matter.

What do you think?

night city isn't even a little peaceful. There is constant crime, and many areas have as many thugs as npcs, The major difference is they label them for you, but thats a gameplay decision. And to be honest, non combat oriented people should just run. They have virtually no chance versus hardened combat individuals. They got cyberware to stop bullets, drugs to ignore pain, clothes that reduce damage, Assisted accuracy, Bullets that go around corners. You'd have to invest in combat to stand a chance. Think of how much risk of death you have at level 20 in Watson. Some level -10 non combat npc decreases his chance of survival by trying to fight

Realize that v, at level one is already an above average Merc with at least 6 months of experience, With enough skill to be used by fixers like Wakako and Regina.

I feel like this needs an update ... Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to experience cops chasing me... Was it only a one time or does that happen to you all the time ?

What I dont like is when scared peasants run into my apartment, what kinda shady locks we got installed in this apt building.

There needs to be a turret that tazes any peasant that even dares to set foot within my apartment, regardless of wether hes running for his life or not.

I dont even feel safe leaving my apartment anymore, it seems anyone can walk in.

They do it all the time. From my experience, engaging police is a big no no, and the ones Ive killed dont drop any loot, I really wanted a police helmet, all I got was a bunch of smart rounds to the back from an endless splurge of drones.

there are very few activities in NiGHT CITY. I hope that future updates will add more activities and open more bars, restaurand, food, casino and more.
