They're really not all that different mechanically. Cyberpunk has many of the exact same mechanics as are found in GTA or other games, they're just not implemented as well.

Worse, there is no reason for this. So what, the game is story-focused. Why does that mean the mechanics should be a step backwards?

If you add all those points out, the game will immediately turn more immersive... CDPR hyped people up and advertised a very immersive game.

I hope they release a separate "IMMERSION UPDATE" because I hope you don't install it.

Cyberpunk would work just fine if they took all the driving stuff out of it. It would simply be a game like Deus Ex. The only reason people are making the comparison is because CDPR tacked on a half baked driving system in a game that doesn't need it and a bunch of people got it in their head that that's what the game is about.

If I may add one thing... I find it disturbing how the NPCs store & retrieve things from their asses. Phones - ok, this one seems plausible that they're tucking it away in their back pocket. But, food & drinks? Baseball bats??? Large items that can't possibly fit into their pants? Couldn't they be programmed to simply drop these items on the ground when they're done with them? Anything would have been better. It's so immersion breaking when you watch an NPC on the street long enough to see them reach back and stuff a hotdog into their butt.

Uh, no. It goes way beyond the driving.

Comparing GTA to Cyberpunk is still nonsense. Cyberpunk has more in common with Deus Ex than with GTA.

Irrelevant. The parts that are in common are still comparable.

I don't recall GTA giving me an experience where I constantly complained about how buggy/unoptimized/unfinished it is.

First no... and second... no! At the very least you should be able to drive the cars you buy in game... however the driving is so horribly bad, that it just makes the cars utterly useless... just as useless as the wanted system... and both are done far better in GTA! Since Cyberpunk has those systems it is totally legitimate to compare the implementation of those systems in both games... and the implementation in GTA is good while it is horrendous in Cyberpunk... as is traffic and crowd behavior!

Sure they are, but it's insanely dishonest to act as though by only comparing those parts you can somehow make a conclusion about which game is better as a whole.

And I don't recall even buying GTA because it has none of the things I care about in a game.

I wish CDPR would have just cut driving from the game completely. They would have had more time to make the RPG parts of the game better, none of the things that matter in Cyberpunk would be any different, and we wouldn't have a plague of GTA fans complaining about it all day.

It's CDPRs first time doing such systems, so I'm willing to give them slack on that. Rockstar has been doing GTAs for 20 years.

I agree, an open world game that is set in a city should have enough variety of behaviour to be believable, and not snap you out of your immersion all the time due to very noticeable details. The details make all the difference:

I can make a video that shows all the things GTAV doesn't have either compared to Cyberpunk 2077. These videos are, quite frankly, really dumb.

True but you can judge the craftmanship if nothing else... and the craftmanship of all GTA titles is worthy of praise... while the implantation of the same systems (as in they are suppose to do the same) in CP77 is a joke... and a bad one at that!

Both of those systems are such an irrelevant part of the game that it honestly doesn't bother me. There are no main or side missions where you get the cops on you and there's only 1 set that involves driving in a meaningful way. In GTA, every missions involves 1 or both.
