Nilfgaard versus the North - who should be in charge of what in the next game?

We saw how the Witcher 3 handled the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

The whole business with Upper Aedirn lasts about five minutes before it's conquered by Nilfgaard.

Temeria too.

Then Kaedwin ends up under the control of Furher Radovid.

So, the question is....what would you like to see as the canonical state of the world for The Witcher 4: Swallow and Wolf Boogaloo?

You can say what you THINK will happen and what you'd LIKE to see happen.

My preference; Temeria gets plunged into a deeper state of hell after Nilfgaard attempts to create a puppet state which crumbles, and Skellige gets smashed by Nilfgaard after clans refuse to be led by their queen Cerys (who is assassinated as a result by men from the Lugos clan), with a large resistance force on Ard Skellige trying desperately (but being starved in a siege) to hold out for promised support from Redania, or whoever takes the mantle. Nilfgaard now in civil war after their emperor gets deposed.

Basically a mix of everything. Most importatnly, everything gets shat on.

That DOES seem to be the CD_Red ideal.

Combination Ending

1. Reasons of State: Now I'm imagining Roche and Dijkstra both managed to survive through means unknown (Thaler turns out to be an illusionist playing both sides) and are currently on the side of Nilfgaard and Redania especially as the war continues indefinitely. Phillipa assassinates Radovid even if you fail to succeed. John Natalis leads the resistance while Roche works to keep Redania as an ally of Nilfgaard. Anais is a girl who can choose to support one candidate over the other.

2. Skellige: The Lugos clan seeks out Skallige Bran and proceeds to prop him up as an alternative High King, also armed with the secret gold of Nilfgaard backing him up. Cerys and her brother are forced off the King's throne.

Civil War rocks the island.

3. Nilfgaard: Emhyrs is assassinated before Ciri is crowned Empress and Ciri is forced on the run, Emhyrs not abandoning his plans to make her Empress even as he hears she's been working as a Witcher. The new Emperor candidates seek her out to assassinate her even as they marry a fake Ciri to their candidate.

Phillipa Eilhart takes over as a major political force.

How so? She's NO ONE in Nilfgaard, no connections, no wealth, she isn't noble, just a powerful mage, but they have mages too.

Yeah, or Deidre Ademeyn (who may or may not exist in the Witcher gameverse). Anais would have an immunity to magic and the ability to fight much-much better than a normal person due to her mutations plus would have been hardened significantly by magical opposition, You could have the Lodge of Sorceresses backing whoever is against her and Anais now all ruthless because she's being denied her prestige.

It'd be a cool way to bring back that plot.

Especially since the books say an abnormally high number of noble-born girls were Black Sun children.

Because Phillipa fails upwards. No matter how big a disaster which is explicitly her fault, she ends up getting more powerful.

Nah, completely illogical. She even don't have a weigh in the North if Radovid or Dijksta wins, just a sorceress with a huge bounty for her head. In the South she's just a pardoned criminal from the North, nothing more.

Eh, she thinks she can become Emryhs advisor and I don't doubt it. They have the same moral code.

I doubt that new emperor will just take her as his adviser. Massive cleaning of all people who worked for Emhyr and not 100% loyal to a new emperor will follow. She has to become his adviser and sell him real quickly to the conspirators before the assassination, which is really tricky, she is no one in Nilfgaard, who will trust her?

True. Phillipa would just go back to raising hell for fun and profit then.

I honstely think CDPR should leave the Witcher and make other games in the future.

They already have Cyberpunk. Maybe they have enough money and self-confidence after that to come up with an own IP in the future, something new and fresh.

Kovir is a good place for her. The lodge very strong in the court and people tolerate mages, so she will be fine. Next move? Just wait till the next North vs South or when Radovid/Dijkstra dies, she's sorceress, she has that time.

Let me be a little bit clinical - everyone loves money and as far as I know the witcher 3 selling well. I have faith in REDs but money is money and just one more sequel can't hurt that bad....

Hope dies last. I can't see the core of the Witcher getting any better at this point so I hope they have the integrity to just leave it at this point and move on to something else. Usually game series won't get better over time and with each new sequel there is the danger that you drag down the whole series...

I think that would royally suck and be terrible. I enjoy the Witcher series as one of the few well-done adult fantasies currently out.

I like Cyberpunk fine but this is like wanting to see The Two Towers and being taken to see Bladerunner.

It's not the same itch and I want more of the characters I love. Pretending they're remotely equivalent is weird.

I don't believe that sequels can drag down original films. I also think with that attitude, we'd have never gotten Assassin of Kings or the Witcher to begin with.

If the next game or the game after or the game after that sucks, I won't buy it.

But until then, I will.

Kind of. Geralt says the idea that black sun children are EVIL is bullshit and that people who persecute them because of it have driven them to madness and ruthlessness.

They're still mutants.

Take note, Yennefer is one of them according to Geralt's calculations.

We will see, so far RED's , never disappointed me, I liked all 3 games, not may companies like them (Blizzard is another example for me.). The problem is - cyberpunk is completely different gender AND the most important - they will not have a foundations for a story. For good or for bad the witcher has insane amount of lore and pre-history, the new game will not have that. Mass effect in the first game did it perfectly, we had a lot of lore. I hope they can make their cyberpunk world alive as well.
