No fix for the crashing.

I use a dual monitor setup too. Also have the black screen (with sound) crash. I emailed support and got a small list of things to try. including a line about the game not liking a multi monitor setup. Although I've tried reverting back to a single monitor, restarting my machine and starting the game but to no avail, it still crashes between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. Tried everything else suggested too. Oh I have a GTX 660ti (2gig) factory overclocked, tried downclocking it to around basic settings but nope with that too.

For me, as for many others, the game crashes to desktop at intervals of 0.1 to 10 minutes. Getting to play for 10 minutes could be called luxurious. Usually the game crashes in 1 to 3 minutes. Crashing can happen in a cutscene, while in coversation, stationary or just running around picking flowers etc. The main menu has never crashed even after fairly long times of idling and so seems stable.
I have also tried various fixes suggested on this forum but have not noticed any noticeable difference in play time.

Just so that you are all aware. We are paying close attention to every bug that is posted not only here on official forums but also on other media streams like reddit, steam, gog.com and even youtube or sites that point out and gather bugs. Every crash issue will be addressed with upcoming hot fixes.

i have i7 4770 and 780ti windforce oc factory

and this problem ruin my game

I have the same specs( 4790k though) and I also get those things, but quite not that often and they are smaller.

removed geforce experience, ...
I don't think that's necessary. You should've simply disable Nvidia Shield streaming service.

I even downclocked my slightly factory clocked graphics card, EVERYTHING, and my game still keeps crashing, 0.30s to 10 minutes ingame.

My specs:
i7 3790k
GTX 780 ti
8gb's of ram

What am I supposed to do, is there a way to truly fix this? Why are some people not experiencing crashes? What is wrong with my PC?

Is your CPU overclocked? Sometimes it can be a problem.

Well, I'm at my wits end with this black screen bug. I've tried literally EVERYTHING in the forums.
I REALLY don't want to do this but it looks very much like I'll have to get my money back for the PC version as, for me, it isn't fit for purpose at the moment. I might have to go for the PS4 version instead as it seems it's a LOT more stable than the PC.

After patch 1.03, switching from fullscreen to borderless window delayed my crashing by A LOT. I now crash every 1-2 hours instead of every 5-10 min.

I have tried everything to stop from crashing every 2-5 minutes nothing has worked... I'm very disappointed that I spent good money on this game. Please for the love of god fix this.............

No, it is not.

I assume most of you have this feeling, but my frustration level is SO high at the moment! Right now, would be a perfect time to play witcher 3, but no. :(

Reverting my GTX680 drivers to a significantly older one (341.44) fixed my crashing issues completely. I played for at least 4 hours without a hitch. Still have to test if changing settings in game affects the stability. I have pretty much everything on high except the hair thing, Vsync is off, display mode windowed and fps limit at 30.

Still having crashing after having tried all the solutions. 1.03 didn't fix either. Game still crashes system completely with black screen anywhere from 2-10 minutes after starting. No crashes on game menu.Running game on Steam.i5-3570k3TB hard drive16GB RAMEVGA GTX 970 SC

I am having issues as well. I didn't notice the errors until I switched to Borderless Fullscreen because the errors pop up down by the time and while the game was crashing, the errors would pop up and disappear before I could see them. The two errors I get that force the game to close are both graphic card related.

"nvidia driver has stopped responding and recovered" and "application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware"

For a while I was getting the first error. Made some changes. Did some research on the error and it seemed to have worked. Made it to the sword fighting in the tutorial without a crash and then the 2nd error message started to appear. My cards are all updated. Here is my setup:

GPU: Two GTX 660 TI's in SLI running driver version 352.86
CPU: Intel Core i7 @ 3.20GHz
Memory: 32gb
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro

I am not sure what else to do. Starting to regret getting the PC version. I could be playing on my PS4 or Xbox One right now but instead I have been spending all day researching trying to come up with a fix. Such a pain.

So many different threads about this... Maybe create one with "Game freezes whole system" theme?

Anyway. Same here. 1.03 not fixing. Game freezes whole PC after 10 mins or so. Only sound is working.
Steam edition (if it matters somehow) GTX770 2GB, 16GB RAM, i7-3770k.

Tried everything beginning from borderless window mode to all settings to lowest...
The only thing that helped - is to revert videodriver to 344.11.

P.S.: There is also a very interesting thread on Nvidia forums...

heres my setup, i was crashing every 15 min, and the game was unplayable... then i changed a bunch of different things so its hard to say what chnaged but if you guys want to copy these settings and try, good luck!!!pc version on steami5 cpu 2.8nvidia 96012GB ramwhen i was crashing it was patch 1.02 with the new nvidia driver for witcher.i was running an XB1 controller too.so the changes----i unplugged the controller -set max frames to unlimited -turned off both BLUR and movement blur (forgot what its called but both blurs are side by side)-set to fullscreen-turned off vignette-hardware cursor on-harworks offi know many off these seem useless to change, i'm just trying to be thorough. but ever since i changed this stuff i have had 0 crashes...i have started another thread asking if anyone is able to run a controller with patch 1.03, i really prefer to use it...good luck guys!!!

Wanted to give a quick update because I am not 100% sure the problem is fixed. However, I was able to play for a good 30 minutes before I had to quick without any crashing! Will play tomorrow a lot more to see what happens. Since the last post, I did more research. It appears that the 660 was overclocked to the extreme right out of the box. This was causing problems. Also, heat was a big thing as well as voltage to the system as a whole.

So, I underclocked the card by -20 from its default. I boosted fan speed and increased the power by about 10%. So far nothing has exploded, the game still looks great, and no crashes! If you are suffering from crashing problems, try to underclock your GPU and increase voltage a tad and see if that helps. Like I said, I will play more tomorrow and see how long I can go without a crash and will report back!

Patch didn't do anything for us that can't even start the game, but looking at the bug fix list I really didn't think it would. Hopefully there is a another patch this weekend sometime.

Got a crash in like 10-20min yesterday, I had already underclocked the damned card a bit from the factory OC. Decided to give the damn thing a bit more voltage and make a profile with no voltage reduction. 7 hours with no crash after that.
