Not to go off topic, and I haven't seen your dogs butt, but you are right it is human nature. However, it is also human nature to realize our flaws and attempt to correct them. To realize where we are being animals and to act more "human", more compassionate, more fair. I think it is the main thing that separates us from animals.

Back on topic, where can I get a printed manual (besides my own printer)? Can I pay to have one shipped to me. Not sure how much it would costs but it couldn't be more than 20 bucks or so.

Wabbit posted it was in the front cover of his guide, did you check there? :)Outside of that, getting a printed English manual might be difficult. You could get a Polish or Russian upgrade pack one though I guess :D

Front cover of his guide? I have my CD if that is what you are referring to? I am talking about getting a manual, if they sell them in England, can't I just get an English Manual somehow?

Just a note that it wasn't retailers that decided which item to remove -- it was a byproduct of retailer pressure that we had to remove SOMETHING to make the game fit in the smaller package. Together with Atari, we opted for the manual. Some will be upset that we didn't choose the guide or the short story... but alas, the in-game tutorial and journal entries should explain most of what you need to do in the game. Sorry to anyone who wishes we'd picked something else.

I realize this, I am curious as to which retailer pressured you guys because I want to show them my dissatisfaction with their "less than customer focused" business strategy. I personally think you guys made the wrong decision, but I understand completely why you did it. Also, I don't think you could have included the Manual and the Guide because that would have been too thick (though having the short story on PDF would have been ideal). It is too bad these large companies use that pressure against you as a smaller one. I apologize to the way you are treated by my fellow countrymen, it is certainly an embarrassment in my opinion and not the way one does good business. In the end, you guys have to answer when it was the retailer. So is there ANY way to get a printed manual, you guys should sell them separately. The real thing that bugs me is that the companies don't pass on the savings...EVER. I mean, if you are going to force them not to print a manual so you can keep the box smaller, make the game a bit cheaper for me (not you CD PROJECT, the Retailer who is complaining). If you always greedily take the bottom line for yourself, you are going to upset your customer, because you are literally biting the hand that feeds you.

Hey, guy, you had better just be happy that CD Project hasn't yet told you that it's your fault you didn't get a manual. This company is an utter disgrace. Worst gaming company I've ever known about.

I'm fairly certain that the decision to not print the manual was not CD projekt's but in fact Atari's. Be mad at the right person please.Personally, CD projekt has just engraved itself in my mind as one of the best developers around, not only did they make an awesome game but they actually support if AFTER it came out and released a truly enhanced edition. I look forward to their future projects.

I was kind of bummed about no manual as I expected there to be one along with the game guide(WTF?! Ever heard of gamefaqs.com and other places?) as well as the "short story".The US version states that it's an excerpt from the recently (April) released novel here so I was momentarily disappointed, but the illustrations are nice if not exactly directly suitable to the text IMO.Craptari should've included a manual and left out TAGES ffs.

Isn't the smaller DVD size box the new "standard" here in the US.? If you go to Frys all of the games are this size.

i would be a little disappointed. i bought the OG version and i loved the color manual. and i eventually would like to buy the new full blown version and give my brother my old copy. but if i had to choose which item to drop it would DEFINITELY be the short story, heres why.short story is something you will read once MAYBE twice, easy to read on your PC and then, DONE.manual? something you keep bedside and refer to over and over. especially since it was color, and so many times these days manuals are short, black and white let-downs. and the guide fits the same description as the manual...but anyways, im just about to install the game and check it out. i was happy that i was able to DL the extra goodies like the behind the scenes and the manual. i will look at it. and if u have the latest version of adobe then that experience is all the more rich. cheers.

Where was this thread in 2007! :p We needed it then also! This thread should be named.. No Game Manual in Enhanced Edition USA VERSION or the NormalEdition UK VERISON! :dead:It's a shame but the manual is on the disk afterall but I do feel for you US, EE owners. The manual booklet being missing has happened before for the normal retail copy of the game in the UK. My normal Witcher game has the box, game DVD and 'Nightwish' gothic metal band music video DVD??? And there is no manual, just a slip telling us the manual is on the disk. "BRILLIANT! The box still has enough space for a manual but it's ok since we only paid full price..." Because there was no manual booklet I didn't even get a CD Key. I know Atrai can help if you contact them and ask for a CD Key but we shouldn't have to in the first place, it's not fair. :( Normal UK Verison. No manual and thus no CD Key. At the time in 2007 I wanted a manual, now I want the CD Key. Awaiting email...
I want the manual even though I have one in the TWEE I want one for the standard one so I know how you feel guys. I really do.TWEE UK VERISON. Has everything as advertised.
I know US gamers are annoyed and yeah I agree it is annoying because other video games are the same everywhere and anywhere you buy them of course some verisons are censored but the package bonus shouldn't be that's what I'm talking about. People worldwide can hold knowlegde knowing gamers around the glode have the same items sitting on there shelf as they do, I wish the Witcher was the same. Every country should recieve the same game contents, it just makes it so damn hard being a collector of Witcher Merch' if every country has different stuff, for example even The Witcher Limted Edition / Collectors Edition was different in every EU country.Anyway yeah I'm not moaning.. well I am but is that ok? It stayed on topic and thanks for reading WOW a long post, love you for reading my faults! Don't delete mees.. :peace:

That is horrible, didn't realize it is the same in UK Normal Version. I know what you mean about box contents. It really comes down to greedy, imposing, power hungry (I guess that's greedy) people. I mean, in the end, many people in the industry don't give any more of a crap about the customer than is necessary to make what they think is maximum profits. If the person happens to be short sighted, they tend to make it obvious when they screw people b/c they don't "give back" occasionally. Clearly CDPROJEKT does NOT have this problem, as they are issuing a free-patch and clearly care about their game and the community surrounding that game.I urge you to be more strict and demanding with these companies and/or individuals that attempt their own short term gain at the expense of you the customer. In today's world too many people just don't want to take the energy to keep these people in check like they obviously need to be.

Reality Check! "The Witcher" may be the most important game of all time to those on this forum, but it is nothing in sales compared to the big sellers like the SIMS and Madden. The retailers could give a rat's a$$ about The Witcher. The only way Atari could get The Witcher on the shelves was to downsize the package and how it was downsized was certainly based on cost savings. The manual would have been completed last after the game guide and long after the short story. Atari could have the story and the guide printed at a time where the printing costs would be minimized. It was logical from a business point of view to put the manual in .pdf form since something had to be cut. It is likely the short story and the game guide were included in print form due to pressure from CDProject.CDProject has no clout with American retailers. Walmart probably sells more copies of one Sims expansion than The Witcher. Atari is a corporation (a creation of law; an entity without soul or conscience) created only to make profits.See if your iPhone or other phone/pda has a .pdf reader and download the game manual to that. I plan on doing that with my Palm Centro when the EE and all the goodies have finally finisehd downloading.A printed game manual sold by CDProject would be a good idea. CDProject is definitely not to blame for the lack of the game manual.

Has CDPR put the Game Manual PDF on their website for owners of the original Witcher who want to upgrade to EE (to download online)?

I dunno MYSTERD it's on the flash menu thing when you put the DVD in though so don't need it on the website. Can I ask 'coz I want to know... How many people in the UK actually got the same content as me? Look at photo above. I got it from Play.com (UK) I heard GAME shops in the hight street sold the same with no booklet. I want another copy of the normal UK Witcher game with a booklet!! Amazon UK? Does Amazon.co.uk has the UK verison of the game with a booklet? So much hassle :wall:

I wish I had read this earlier. I plan on returning my copy to EB Games, and ordering from gogamer.com . I just hope I can return the game. The worste part about it is that I went out and bought The Enhanced Edition for collection purposes. I already own The Witcher and could have downloaded all the content for free, but instead I wanted the hard copy of all the extras. Then to get here and see I didn't get everything the developers wanted me to get is frustrating. Not only is the manual not included, but the entire pacakaging is just lower quality. All the books are crammed into the case with barely enough room, and the DVDs and CDs are just stacked on top of each other spindle style. I personally would have paid more to get the same thing all the other countries got. As a matter of fact, I will be, since the gogamer import price is higher. Now I have to try and return my US copy and that's not going to be easy. I suppose it is my own fault for not looking into it before running out and buying the game. If I have problems returning this to the game store, I would be highly interested in buying the manual direct if that's even possible.-Dateranoth

I'm just like you apart from I want the manual for the normal copy fo the game instead because UK didn't get one. Read my post with the photos :DYou're absolutely spot on about the low quality! My card box is paper card bascily when you compare it to my World of Warcraft boxes or my limited edition Oblivion box. The books are just crushed in there and the box corners are slightly damaged because the poor quality card box that holds everything. The back of my game box print is terrible also compared to the original. Is this the same for you then? If so I'm gald I'm not the only one.Do GoGamer sell to the EU? I want a standard version with a manual!
