I did the free download and then I decided to just to buy it, they worked so hard after all spending a year rebuilding the game and deserve the money so I got my enhanced edition at Best Buy today. Wal Mart aren't the only ones who went on the cheap with shipping, All my contents got crammed into one cheap cd holder with all the discs on a spindle and the books are slightly damaged and torn from the holders in the plastic case where they were forced in. Some of the pages are even smashed in on the edge where they crammed the books into the plastic case. One of the books is missing. My packaging looks nothing at all like the UK version. Now I'm wondering how to uninstall the old version to install my enhanced verson but I guess that's another thread.

*Hugs Cate*Take a photo if possible I'd love to see the NA EE. So you have like one DVD plastic box with it all in? :O

The DVD case is a Nexpac case and it looks sort of like the one in AJCN's first picture, but it's not that exact case. They just crammed all the books on the side the paper is on and all the cd's are on a spindle. Sorry I can't do any photos at the moment. I'm still using an old Canon AE-1 SLR camera and out of film, one of these days i'll upgrade my camera technology and go digital.

I have to say, seems like yours is higher quality than the US version here. I took some pictures so you can see both The Witcher and The Witcher Enhanced Edition. I suppose the game case isn't poor quality so much as the fact that everything is crammed in there, and the fact that the US version has no printed manual.US Packaging:Side By Side:The Witcher:The Witcher Enhanced Edition:The Witcher Enhanced Edition Books:-DateranothP.S.I don't think Gogamer.com does international orders.

Nice one on the photos! Very interesting thready.I feel I should say that earlier I was saying my EE box is lower quality than average pc game boxes in print, etc but the EE is just like this everywhere. I was comparing it to other PC game boxes that come in a card package with the plastic case inside, etc and I've noticed it falls short, it's just lesser quality card that's not suitble to hold that amount of weight and from your photo it's clear it's designed as a cover and not a case for 3 cases and 3 booklets. Anyway I'm moaning about nothing. Ok. I wouldn't agree that yours the US one isn't as good quality, it's fine, it probably better because your booklets won't get damaged because they're in the plastic box are arn't. I think the packaging for the US is good it's like what Blizzard do with WoW and they're great pakcages but of course it would be better if it was like th eone on the offical website or at least you get a manual. It can't be changed now though I guess but someone could start printing them like Atari or something and start selling them.My one is completely different. Different artwork picture on the folding bit of the cover slip card thing, and you've seen my photo, all the disk have boxes, the map is inside the game box and the booklet are outside them. Mine doesn't say the short story was taken from the book "The Last Wish" like yours does, mine just says it's writen by him, etc, etc. Also my booklets don't have age rating thing on them.I can see why you want the UK verison of the EE but I want the US verison for the original lol! My normal copy of the game sucks compared to yours I can't believe how epic the US one is. Even have a slip on card case we just got the plastic box and no manual and now you're the ones not getting the manual in the EE. We can say you got a better deal on the normal copy and the UK got a better deal on the EE copy. We both have something each other want. I guess what we should of got. If people think we're fussy witcher nerds wanting shiny paper or what ever we're not we just want what was advertised concerning the US EE. Me on the other hand is the shiny fusser with his my normal UK copy problems, I'm being a fussy prat because I heard some people in the UK got there game with a manual :pI guess I'm not alone: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=14407.0P.SFilm camera are probably the best tbh good to have one of each. :)

The Game Guide takes all the fun out of the game for new players, since it's nothing but spoilers. If there were a printed manual, it would be more obvious that people shouldn't read the Game Guide unless they're stuck, or at the end of the chapter, to make sure they didn't miss anything. In the absence of the printed manual (and my version didn't include any notice that the manual was on the disk in PDF), I think people will open the Game Guide and start reading it, thinking that it's the manual. I wish that Atari had put some sort of large notice on the front of the Game Guide saying, "Spoilers Within! The game manual is on the disk -- look there to start." While it's true that the game has a good tutorial, and one doesn't really need a manual, players don't know that until they've started playing the game. Since this is a big, rich, game, it takes a long time to install. And what do players usually do during long installs? They use the time to read the manual. If new players read the Game Guide instead, it's going to ruin things for them.*sigh* CDPR is so much more wonderful than the people they have to work with. I wish you guys had your own publishing company. Or maybe a consortium of good game studios could form some sort of publishing collective. I hate to see your hard work made less good than it could be by stupid publishers and stupider retailers.

You hit the nail on the head. I never played the game before and assumed the game guide was the manual. It never even occurred to me that they would ship a game guide instead of a manual. So I started to read it and quickly felt something was wrong since it was not telling me how to play just what to do and where to go. I read a few pages then looked at the title which said "guide". I was thinking WTF? Where is the manual. Atari sucks big time for doing this to the customers. First the NA edition comes censored, (ok no biggie as patches can fix that), then without a manual and then you look at the quality of the UK release and have to feel shafted. There is no other way to look at it. Now I regret not buying the UK edition from Gogamer. It was $15 more then amazon and had a later ship date. I thought the packaging would be all the same :(

But, you at least had the easy option of getting the UK CE, which not only included a manual, but that amazing art book (I imported it and it was not cheap). While it would've been nice if everyone could have purchased that Polish CE, the UK CE was still nicer than the US Witcher release. And the disparity between the actual packaging betweehn the original US/UK normal releases is nowhere near the differences between the UK/US EE release. They need to start labelling all of these screenshots of the EE packaging as the European version. It's very misleading. I almost purchased the US version until I cam across this thread. I would have been very unhappy if I got that lackluster US packaging.

Howdy everyone, I received the same package AJCN received with his picture of The Witcher with the Nightwish dvd that came with it (that rocked). However, there is a cd key and it is on the insert with what I received. I have ordered the same import version from gogamer.com and it'll be here Wednesday. Initially, the Witcher was bought within the US and that came with a printed manual with all information about potions, beasts, etc. I think gogamer sells the UK import for people here in the US, and I cannot be sure since the Enhanced Edition says (IMPORT) and not (I) like it did with the Witcher uncensored version. I'll find out soon and post my findings!-William

I don't have the CE (collector edition) I have the normal and the EE. Nothing to be confused aobut since I labelled all my photos. That is a relief that US gamers buying from gogamer get the same normal UK verison that I recieved myself in the UK.

Add me to the list of unhappy US purchasers; I bought the Enhanced Edition specifically for the goodies, and it's my first experience playing the game. I'm also one of those kinds of people that RTFM beforehand, so I know what's going on when I get into the game. Started reading the Game Guide without another thought, since it was the thickest book, and realized that I was reading ahead through plotlines that I wasn't going to be able to discover on my own now. Not cool at all. The fact that I'm missing a book of art sort of adds insult to injury. Is the art book available in digital form somewhere for those of us SOL in the US?Oh yes, and all of the books were damaged to some extent; crushed corners, torn covers, ratty bindings, map torn in multiple places. If I didn't know better, I would think I got a secondhand copy.-P

I wasn't referring to your photos. I was referring to the photos on The Witcher website advertising the EE. They are obviously for the european release which is going to leave US buyers who frequent the site disappointed when they get the EE and see the packaging is nothing like what was shown.

I plan to buy the EE even though i already own the Original but because of this im definatly NOT buying the US version. I love printed manuals and im not going to kill my printer because someone was too stupid to put one in the US version.

Hey, can you tell me if your Import is censored? I ordered the same Import from GoGamer and my cards are definitely censored. Sure it might not be a big deal, but I paid the extra money for it :( Also, it seems like some of the language may be censored as well. /cry-Courtney

I am a Canadian customer and I am most grateful for the EE release. I have indeed missed the robustness of a balanced single player game that still provides direction vis-a-vis plot - thanks!I admit that the sense of loss about no game manual resonates for me. I miss it and would much have preferred that the walk through be digital. I realise that cannot be changed - I am wondering if there is anyway through Atari or the designer to actually acquire a game manual for EE?Thanks for the gft of this game - it is wonderful!

Hello Courtney, No, both The Witcher and the Enhanced Edition imports received from GoGamer are not censored. The game is in import packaging, too. Especially the Enhanced Edition. I confirmed this by loading a saved game, after playing my other import up to v1.3, in the Enhanced Edition I just installed. Ramsmeat does say colourful metaphors when Geralt finally tells him about the salamandra, Morenn in all her green glory is still naked in the swamp, and the cards I have up till now in Act II are revealing!-William

I find it funny that so many are so hung up on seeing some T&A in a game. I have no idea if mine is censored or not (bought in Europe), but it really doesnt matter. The story and experiance is still the same, with our without naked girls....
