No other option for installing? retail version

Hello i recently upgraded my computer and had to move the game directory to a different HDD, and now the launcher no longer works. The problem is that i don't have a dvd reader in my new setup and the only version of the game i have is the retail one with the discs, so you can see the problem here. Is there any other way for me to install the game without having to buy a dvd reader?

If you didn't reinstall Windows (-> Registry entries are still existent), you could try to change the value of the "InstallFolder"-key (found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CD Projekt RED\The Witcher 2) to your new game directory. Not guaranteed to work, but there is a chance.

Well, honestly, investing a couple of bucks for an optical drive (which you'll probably need from time to time anyways - and seriously, they're very, very cheap) is the far more convenient and fail-safe solution, compared to booting up your old windows, searching and exporting all TW2-related registry entries and importing them in your new windows.
Other than that, you could buy an additional digital copy or create images of your game DVDs at a friend's (/PC with DVD drive).

It's possible that the launcher doesn't work, but the game itself might. Did you try running witcher2.exe directly, bypassing the launcher altogehter? [The Witcher 2\bin\witcher2.exe]

The tool from point 19. in our FAQ will add missing registry entries for the game. It should start working without reinstall.

@ Flash, regarding FAQ 22, that only applies to XP.

Vista and Windows 7 have removed the HAL and no longer have the DXDIAG tool sound acceleration slider.

Thank you for replying, i ran the tool but it doesn't seem to do anything. I pointed it to the game directory and it created a folder named program files x86 with nothing in it.

I think i need to buy an optical drive.

It adds Windows registry entries for The Witcher 2. It doesn't supposed to install anything.
