No text shown in main menu!!

I bought the game from steam but no text shown in the main menu of the game.
I have a win7 64 bits SP1 system. Can any one please provide the solution to me?

Looks like the language (text) files are missing altogether. Weird how it happened on the Steam version. Either way, assuming you're running a clean install (no mods), try re-validating the game files - or whatever it's called - via the game library menu. It will take a while, I guess, but that's usually the first step you take when such problems occur.

If you`re unfamiliar with Steam and validation. Open Steam>Library and right click the witcher and select properties then in the new window click the local files tab and tick the verify game cache button. If the game is lacking any files Steam will notify you that is acquiring some files.

I realise this is an old thread but I just ran into this problem myself and this is one of the first results google brought up for me. I am new to steam so it took me a while to figure out why I could not see the text on the menu. To save others that might have this problem the trouble of figuring it out too - here is what I did

You need to set a language for the game to use from steam

In steam go to > Library > right click The Witcher > Properties > Language > English (or whatever).
