Game developers have zero moral obligations. You would never say "should a painter paint this?" A painter can paint whatever they want. Anything less would be censorship.

Now that being said, resellers such as steam or gog can choose not to distribute a game if it contains questionable material (as they should be allowed to).

Nothing should keep them from self-distributing their game however.

However, counties still have laws that governs what their citizens are allowed to access.

They do specifically call out your ability to attack unarmed villagers in the rating summary. It'd be kind of silly if respawning gave them a pass on the children and not the adults.

That would be one of the least silly pieces of reasoning the ESRB has used for a decision, sadly.

The change in developer likely had more to do with it considering that Oblivion released 9 days before that hearing, shares an engine with Fallout 3, and handled children in the exact same way. Also, I seem to remember reading that it was a conscious choice on their behalf because they were parents and simply didn't want to include it in their games, but I'm having trouble finding the source for that one.

There are no children in Oblivion. You're thinking of Skyrim, probably.

Fine. If we're playing dirty, then I choose a reflective ham basted to a reflective sheen, knowing full well that he'll be mesmerized by his reflection until he starves to death.

Remember Star Trek 6? He would just try to outham his own reflection!

What pisses me off the most is how the law treats different mediums inconsistently. There are different standards applied to movies, pornography, video games etc and video games are by far the most censored medium.

In movies and pornography, you are just an observer. In video games, you are an actor.

It's like the difference between watching someone shoot up an airport and shooting up that airport yourself.

Huh. For some reason, I always thought the Adoring Fan was a child, but you can kill him, can't you? Pretty sure I was thinking of plot-crucial characters in general. That's my bad.

I'm okay with the witcher 3 having like 5-10 cutscenes throughout the whole game where dialogue was timed and you had to make a decision fast, but I really hope we aren't timed most of the time in cp2077. I want to feel relaxed, not rushed. If almost every line of dialogue times us and only gives us 3-5 seconds to act, then I'm going to be too antsy. I hated how in alpha protocol it was like this so I never really got to enjoy it since I felt rushed all the time.

I get it, most of the dialogue is in FPP and you guys want us to be immersed by doing this, but its still a game. I don't think it'll add much if you try to "immerse us more" if the dialogue is going to time us with 3-5 seconds to act all the time. I have no idea this will be the case, I'm just voicing my opinion I'm turned off by being rushed. Loved how in all bioware and witcher games I could take 30 seconds or even minutes to make a decision if I wanted.

From what I heard CDPR is doing something kinda innovative where we can look around in FPP in dialogue and npc's will react to us and we'll have several options to choose from. If we're rushed or timed, I feel this is going to make me even more less relaxed than I was playing alpha protocol. Please keep it simple CDPR and don't rush us!

VTM:B is on my top three games of all times. One of my wishes was that CDPR would get the IP and do a true VTM:B sequel since I think they are the only company that could pull it off now that troika is dead. I know obsidian is making a werewolf game, but I have low expectations since they are really not the same obsidian from the past. A lot of problems are going on over there, with CA leaving, Josh stepping down from lead and saying he is not working on RPG's anymore for a while and other stuff which I do not feel is appropriate to talk about. If CDPR did VTM:B sequel, I think the gaming and WOD community would explode from happiness.

I mean...

No missions. No combat. No storyline.

Just heading out from your apartment, do some shopping, cruise around, get back home to change clothes, go to a bar and get some drinks and watch TV, play some pool, then head to a club and dance and continuing drinking, then head home and pass out.

It would seem from what we've heard that the worldbuilding is so well made; that such a "mundane" thing as going out to have fun an evening would be enjoyable on its own.

So yeah. Do you think we have reason to be optimistic about such? Not sure how you all feel about it, is just "enjoying the city" as a gamplay element on its own a reward enough in itself in your eyes?

If they do it right, why the hell not! Thing is though, this IS Cyberpunk we are talking about here (Imagine any major American city at 2 AM. Now imagine that EVERYONE has at very least a knife and a .22, or a .38 or a 9mm), so you never know WHAT exactly could happen.

Me personally, I'd be looking to pick up on some hot input...for the night, if nothing else.

My problem is half the time timed dialog choices don't even give you enough time to even read all the options much less select one.

However with W3 at least this wasn't the case.
CDPR FTW !

Ok. From what I've seen/heard, taking a night out in this game could escalate to epic proportions fast.

Idk I like the timed dialogue. Sometimes if I'm feeling wild I let the game decide which dialogue options to pick for me. Keeps things interesting.

I prefer timed. Just has to be enough time.

As long as they let us finish reading the options available to us. In Witcher 3 these options were either syllables or short sentences. Those are fine with me. Maybe not have them too often, but here and there during important quests.

I walked most places in the Witcher 3 and even now still fire it up time to time and just walk out onto a hill and watch the world...I might be a bit insane. That said this does sound so far like it will have a sandbox appeal like GTA and I have always loved just hoping into a car and seeing how long I can drive at top speed before I blow up my car, or just cause random chaos. I can see myself doing any of the three in this game if what we are hearing holds up when the game comes out.

If romance is possible, then I hope we can have our significant other live with us and add their own personality to the home in some small way, like some unique props (decorations, clothes etc). I also hope it will be possible for them to follow the player when you go out, perhaps they can play the mini games with you and offer unique contextual dialogue in a similar way to companions in fallout 4. Might even be possible for your enemies to deliberately target them in some way (ransom, murder). I love really open ended systems with emergent behaviours, so many possibilities.
