Watched last night of the proms at me old oppo's tonight, highlight as far as i'm concerned was the Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams, with Nigel Kennedy on Violin. Sad thing is that I haven't seen or heard a Skylark in decades.

Strange how these veterans of the living hell that was the trenches sought out escape in the fantastical, from Vaughan Williams ode to an England that was rapidly fading away to Tolkiens fantastic reworking of the Sagas and Eddas.
