I know it's not much help to have me say "me too" but I also have an 8500GT (ASUS) and am finding that when I go into the conversation cut scenes I also get the texture smearing, graphical corruption etc.As I had no problems playing my older pc with a 7600, I suspect it may be a problem specific to the card.Of course, that doesn't really help either of us...

8500GT has many problems ( just search the forum ) and it is below a 7600GSthat is a knows fact, but sadly users still don't get informed before doing a purchase :(

I am looking through the forum and as i read i realised that lot of people have very similar problems such are these in this topicI have the same problems - after some time -cca 15 minutes, a lot of spikes shows up and becomes so big that for example they cover nearly all the display. What is strange that in some anles of wiew there are no spikes and after a rotate camera, they appear again. What is just more interesting is that these problems comes with patch 1.3 - when i started to play price of neutrality. BEFORE instaling the patch 1.3 I completed whole game of Witcher and all the time - hours and hours - it worked perfectly, like a charm. So now I am really confused about what happened...I have nVidia 7900GT graphic card an dmaybe this problem is related to these cards(as i read above), but still i must ask how it is possible that before installin patch 1.3 a could play whole game without any problems.btw geat game, i think best i ever played ;)

The problem is vissible in main game too after installng patch 1.3.I didnt change anything in meantime. I only installed some new games so maybe direct X was updated.AFTER problems occured I installed the newest video drivers for nVidia(step by step manual from tech forum), and get last updates for win xp but i doesnt helped(maybe a little but i am ot sure)After more reading on forum I tried to disable antialiasing and started to run the game in windowed mode AND the spikes are gone (only one or two occured during cca 2hrs of play). I could finish PoN without problems, and now i am looking forward to new mods...Thank you a lot for running a help on this forums.

I'm also using an EN8500GT TOP NVIDIA card, and getting pretty much the exact problems you describe, MOSTLY in conversation, but occasionally on loading a new scene or random other times. The drivers are fresh, I'm running XP SP2, and everything else seems to run solidly on the machine. I can't get through 2 consecutive scenes without a video flake-out or crash, and it's getting really annoying.

I've searched the forums. Anything involving changing the video settings hasn't worked for me. I've lowered the settings to as low as they go, I've turned off Anti-aliasing and lowered the anisotropic or whatever. I've also lowered the resolution to 960x800. None of that has worked. Here's the spec:WinXP SP3PCIe 16x16 lanes Nvidia GeForce GT 8500 512MB DDR2 (tried latest Forceware 170 something and the driver that came with my card 163)Athlon x2 5000 Brisbane 2.6 GHz (2000MHz HyperTransport)4GB OCZ RAM Dual Channel DDR2 800 (1000 running as 800)According to official recommended requirements everything should be Kosher. The default settings were set at max.If the solution is on the board already I apologize. Could someone point me to the right post? I got tired of searching.

The 8500 GT is 0nly marginally able to play some of the latest games at their lower low end settings. You need a decent video card if you want high settings.

the kiwi: I didn't realize chipset meant SO much. I was thinking 128-bit 512MB is just the ticket for a game like this and others. No I know the error of my ways. It's been far too long since I've put together a computer for myself and a long time since I've been in tune with the gaming scene. Does SLI or CrossFire have any effect on games like this one?Mobidoy:Thanks, will do.

The 8500 is "close" to the current standard for Medium VGAs, but not *REALLY* close. Even if it was an 8600, or an HD 3650, it STILL wouldn't buy you "high settings" in graphics. When you want those, you need to reach for an "800" or stronger video card, such as an HD 4850, or a Geforce 8800. The in-game movies are semi-independent from the game animations, but rely on most of the same VGA mechanics. I think their performance is subject to tweaking, but Mobidoy is more expert there than I am. I prefer not to have to deal with a lot of special tweaks, so I try to have a fairly high performance VGA in my systems here at my place. (P. S. There are quite a few New Zealand natives plying the 'net's pathways now, but I was there before any others, I believe. That's the national bird, and it's used as a self-description. I was born down there, just never lived there. When I arrive somewhere I can't use my "plain" handle, then I add "The" because I was first, but I never sign with it.)

I've just upgraded my Witcher game to the Enhanced Edition patch, but have been experiencing some problems. Often during cut-scenes or dialogue, the game freezes for a moment. Once it fixes itself, the graphics have gone haywire. Some textures have switched with others, the colours go funny and some textures end up completely missing (in an early seen where Leo dies, he had eyeballs but no head!)I'm running the game on the highest possible specs and I've never had any problem with that before. I'm running Windows XP, and an nVidia GeForce 8500. Is there any solution to this? Because once the graphics go haywire, they don't fix themselves unless are restart the game and try the cut-scene again. Sometimes it then works, other times I have the same problem.

I'm having the same problem except I'm running Vista 32. The textures are either missing or have been replaced with others, (ie. interior walls having flowers for textures)

There are a few problems like this, with really wierd graphical issues, like missing meshes. Or really f*ed up textures. These seem to happen mostly to people who patch. And ALLOT of these have been fixed with a reinstall. This is what I suggest1. Uninstall the witcher2. Do a search, make sure all witcher releated files are off your computer3. REDOWNLOAD the patches from a very reliable source. I suggest fileplanet.com . They have everything in one nice big bundle. 4. ReinstallIt's a pain, but if it gets the game working it's worth it! Good luck man.

Hi I'm really stuck! I can't get passed this point, the game locks up solid on me every time at this point. The game is unstable and crashes all the time as it is, and have to save steady to get any head way at all.. I really like the game and willing to put up with the crashing. But now I'm stuck with an unplayable game as it locks up solid at the Salmandra Teleport base, no matter what. I've turned all the video setting right down, shut off everything I can, reduced the screen Res and it still locks up... I have all my drivers updated on my system.. and posted below are my systems stats.. I really hope someone can help me with this! as I love this game and really want to play it.. Hi Licaon_KterThanks for replying.. My video card is a NVIDIA 8500 GT 512 with the latest driver I did the latest E-Payment Download of the game .. even got the blood patch to see if that had anything to do with it.I have managed to get passed that point since this post, it took a reinstall of my video driver and a "hard Save " (hit ESC and save that way instead of F5) right after I loaded the closes point to the lock up.So that is solved .. but the game is still crashing to desk top after about an hour of play, 90% of the time it's during a loading of a board, sometimes it takes longer to crash, but saving off steady doesn't seem to help, only means I don't lose as much progress. Is there anything that can be done about this consistent crashing problem?

To avoid this kind of problem, CDPR should at least make an updated list of videocards that are confirmed to be able to play The Witcher.
