Observations on New Game Plus
I started a new game with my level 35 Geralt from my last playthrough, so this is now my 4th playthrough. I'm now in Velen having just completed Ladies of the Wood and wanted to make some observations on things I have observed so far in NG+ that could probably use a rethink by our great Dev team at CDProjkect as it looks like they might have gotten a little rushed to get this out to us. So far, everything seems to be running very smoothly and nothing major or game-breaking has occurred, but there are a few things I have observed that may deserve a tweak as time allows. Hope all of you other fans might post any oth NG+ specific issues you have observed.
Started off in White Orchard with my Mastercrafted Wolven armor and weapons which to me at least seemed vastly overpowered. Stopped in to see our favorite dwarven blacksmith to checkout the Warrior Armor which is usually my first armor of the game after the Kaer Morhen starting armor. Curiously, instead of being level 30 armor, to coincide with starting point of game, it had been downgraded to a completely useless level 25. Just seems a bit odd to me.
Next issue I encountered was commerce. I immediately started picking up powerful, high value armors and weapons, as I expected. What I didn't expect though was that shop initial cash starting levels had not been adjusted. It's hard to sell an inventory full of high value weapons and armor when the entire cash reserves of combined merchantry of the White Orchard area couldn't afford several of the pieces. I'm just thinking that either the merchants initial cash reserves should be increased, or all crafting materials, not just herbs, should be removed so as to make breaking items down at this point worthwhile.
Update: Commerce is getting to be a pain, seems like all of the stores had their initial cash cut by half, I remember most of the smaller shops starting with 160 gold, now they have 80. Our future Master Armorer in Crow's Perch has had a max of 757 gold. So mainly I'm just breaking down and/or dumping loot. Doesn't seem to be any reason to collect it when you have to hit every shop in Velen just to get rid of one load of loot. How bizarre....
The next issue I observed was with the Witcher gear diagrams. In picking up the first pieces in Velen whose locations I know by heart now, I found that in several instances I was getting both the old diagram as well as the new. For instance, I picked up the Legendary Wolven Silver Sword - enhanced and Legendary Wolven Silver Sword - mastercrafted; I also received the diagrams for the old Wolven Silver Sword - enhanced and Wolven Silver Sword - mastercrafted. I also got both the Legendary mastercrafted Wolven armor as well as the Mastercrafted Wolven armor from the same chest. So far it just seems as though the Wolven armor may be experiencing the old & new diagram issue and looks like the fact it is happening was unintentional.
Update: This issue seems to be specific to the Wolven diagrams, haven't received a duplicate for any other set. The chests with the new Legendary sets also include the non-NG+ Wolven pieces. Haven't made it to Kaer Morhen yet, but I'm pretty sure this is a bug /oversight as I can't seen any reason the old set should be included. Just finished Legendary enhanced Griffin, no duplicates.
If anyone observes any other NG+ specific issues, please feel free to post!
