these looks pretty good, im pretty sure this was the console version of trailer as cdpr had said that witcher 3 will look like witcher 2 on high settings on consoles and this trailer really did look like witcher 2.and those flamitsu pics look like pc with ultra textures and fur enabled and everything, just at the hair and i can clearly tell txaa applied on those images.

Actually some of the Famitsu comparisons even have the text stating that they are from PS4; not even from a PC with ultra quality. So that is pretty damn impressive in my opinion.

Oh, and the lack of fur on the Wild Hunt guy's armor kinda confirms that it is from a console version, does it not? I don't think they would remove a technology from a game that easily (thinking that it will probably be an option to use it on PC).

Do you not notice Johnny's skin, hair, rocks behind him, scarf, crown, eyes? Look at how his body paint looks like it's on his skin as paint and not just like a big tattoo

Or the old women's hair, face, clothing. Geralt's armor is also a bit different.

Because i noticed it, i say it is in lighting. Depends on how light affects the object, how the pixels on that object will look. The Pic with aparently more detailed pixels is affected by a strong orange light source, the other one is on shadows almost. I mean, you know that many different surfaces take part of one object over the mesh in todays graphics right? diffuse map, normal map. specular map usually have differences.

And in any case, there is something weird about those pics, one thing is i never seen the pics with more contraste, other thing is the japanese words. Plus i'm always talking about the monster kid pics, the others have no difference to me other than position, time or lighting.

It has Japanese in it because they were run in Japan's biggest gaming magazine. Johnny's face and body are way too changed for it to be lighting. While there is a lighting improvement there are also other major differences. Plus, Geralt's hair is way way improved over E3.

I don't see how you can say stuff like his body paint, hair, and face is just caused by lighting. Not to mention the rock right behind his head to the left

Honestly, i was expecting this since they announced they are doing open world game on the scale of skyrim. There is no way openworld multiplat game on release can look as good as witcher 2. After many years and tons of mods applied maybe but still... Say good bye to volumetric smoke, realistic fire. I am wondering if fur technology actually make it into final game.

That said though i am still looking forward to the game, even if they present witcher 1 tier graphics i would buy it because i am more interested in story than the graphics.

Respect your vision, i can't share it and let's hope you are wrong :p anyway in case you are right about this pics and or the trailer, we have to wait some more info about the releases, the PC, xbox and PS4 ones or an official word from cdpr maybe? I have my last hopes of gaming in cdpr, i think this things are part of lack of new info and detailed especially.

i really dont think famitsu screenshots are from ps4, the texture on faces of that old lady and that little blue guy and geralts hair in the same pic with the blue kid confirms it has fur enabled on them which is why i think it is the pc version and and i didnt see any jaggies in pic where geralt is talking to some kids, so apparently aa is also applied.

so i dont think those are ps4 screenshots

You people should stop lying yourself with this old-build nonsense. The game is less than 3 months away, they are optimising things, and what you see now is pretty much what you will get on release...

The downgrade is VERY Obvious, but It won't stop me from getting this game..

The Witcher 3 will look incredible on PC. It is going to look worse on PS4 and Xbox One. That is just the reality. Was the entire game downgraded for all platforms? Highly doubtful considering CDPR is a PC-centric developer and loves their long-established fan base. I am not concerned. A trailer is a trailer. Honestly, there is so many other facets of TW3 to look forward to than just eye candy visuals. That's only a part of what makes the franchise great, and a minor one at that.
I know they're a PC-centric developer. But the product they're producing is obviously not. Only The Witcher 1 was PC centric.

If they released The Witcher 3 with normal RPG UI for keyboard+mouse inputs and then port over to consoles later on, then I can say it's PC-centric. But when the UI is made for controllers and the graphics/experience suppose to be similar for all platforms, then it is console centric (PC downgrades to console level). This doesn't just affect the graphics but also gameplay and features.

For this and the fact that they ditched the idea of a separate UI for the PC, make it seems like they're ditching their fanbase that made them big in the first place, in order to cater toward more of the casuals (more money but less quality). This is the only thing I don't like about CDPR.

I think if the Witcher 3 was created for PC first without consoles in mind, it could have been a lot better and with a faster release. And then they could have port over an updated version for consoles with more time to optimize, similar to The Witcher 2.

They have been complaining about the XBoxOne port, just like other developers, and I think that's what been holding them back. Deadline is a bitch... they can't even do a proper trailer because of crunchtime it seems. But I think the game will look better than the trailer (quality is inconsistent) and should look more like the Famitsu screenshots since those screenshots are from actual gameplay, while the trailer is just a trailer that was made from the game's graphic engine.

To everyone claiming it was older build or console version: it does not make sense. Why would they show something much worse in advertisement? It is just simpleton´s logic. Et tu, CDPR

Why would you hope I'm wrong? You know I've never been saying there's a downgrade? That my post and those comparison links were comparing E3 to NEW famitsu screenshots? The screenshots with the better lighting and Japanese are the NEWEST screenshots we have. I'm assuming you thought I was saying the game had been downgraded from those famitsu screenshots to the E3 picture in the comparison links?

Why did everything before the launch trailer look worse during The Witcher 2's pre-release?

If this is PC footage on ultra... I have no words. Downgrade is obvious like hell. Just look at fur or hairs. Hell, look at everything. Please, tell me this is console version. I beg you guys tell me this is fucking console footage. Because if its not, you were simply lying to us. "Graphics will looks even better". Yeah, sure. I need a cig.

Hmmm...I'm not sure about the downgrade, the game still looks very good but do you think they were pressured by Microsoft or Sony to downgrade it to not make the console version look bad? Is that why it was delayed? I hope this is not Watch Dogs all over again. I mean, just pause at 0:26

Still looks great though.

My bad. Then we have other problem, what is the last trailer then? i was following the logic of the thread but, with many people saying the game is downgraded..... sorry, then we are more close then in what we think.
Maybe the new trailer is from old footage. idk..... but this i'm telling you man, is killing me, i don't want other "watchdogs" case here.

Yeah it is really strange, while its on par with E3Xbox footage, this trailer cant be compared with SoD and VGX trailers in terms of graphics. Devs should come out and tell us what is going on... I am reasonable person, I can take some bad news, Devs please speak to us, tell us what is going on, dont be silent and pretend nothings happening.

Neither do I.

Here are my thoughts in summary.

I think that this new footage is from the same build as E3. The E3 build is 10 months old at this point but it was stable enough to show us like 40+ minutes of gameplay. Why would they use the E3 build? It's stable for the sequences in this trailer and they were probably in crunch time when they made this trailer. I don't believe this trailer was made any time recently. It's not 60FPS and Youtube has supported 60FPS for 2 months now. It is odd to me that they would not take advantage of that.

Another thing is that the hair in this is not the same quality as the recent Famitsu screenshots. It is the same as the E3 hair and basically everything is the same as E3. I find it very odd you would release screenshots deliberately showing the improvements that have been made since E3 near the release of the game, and then not have the game look like that in the end.

Seriously, how is that an easy cover up for them if it happens they would lie about graphics? That Johnny shot is so very easily comparable to the 35 minute demo. It is just a few months from the games release so those screenshots will still be fresh in fans minds when they play. If I were downgrading my game I sure as hell would not release a screenshot like that Johnny one so close to release.

Edit: Just to be clear. I don't think there will be a downgrade. I think the game will at least look like those Famitsu screenshots when it comes out.

Agree. Also downgrading textures doesn't gain much of performance on the new consoles, they have 8 gb of ram to spare for them, even watch dogs had the best textures working fine on xbox one but not that much on PC cards with less than 3gb.

The PS4's 8GB of DDR5 ram doesn't work like normal DDR5 memory. about half to 3/4 of it is used up for the OS and streaming. The rest is for games.

As a PC user Im really disappointed, but whatever - I can live with that, it's not like it's the first time in gaming industry (nor the last)...

But what makes it funny, is angry Xbox One users on youtube, who post shit like "I didn't bought my NEXT-GEN xbox to play so shitty looking game. I wan't graphics from VGX trailer!" - Really? Graphics from VGX trailer... On XBOX1?...
