Obvious Downgrade

Hehe. Btw. Almost all lines from trailer perfectly fit discussion in this thread: "If you could hear the cries sir. If you could hear how man can scream", "We all knew what we were signing up for", "Geralt, have some dignity. You know how this will end." My english is shitty so Im sure it's not exactly how they say it, but... Its going deeper then I thought. O_O

"Geralt, have some dignity. You know how this will end." - haha, it perfectly fits the topic

You people should stop lying yourself with this old-build nonsense. The game is less than 3 months away, they are optimising things, and what you see now is pretty much what you will get on release...

The downgrade is VERY Obvious, but It won't stop me from getting this game..

Agreed. People really need to stop all the denial and just come to grips with the very strong possibility that the game was downgraded. This is the most ambitious and expensive project that CDPR has ever done. This is their first open world game and it wouldn't surprise me if they got a little ahead of themselves.

Its best we temper expectations now instead of waiting until Feb and then running back to the forums to complain about being deceived, when the truth is you decided to stick your head in the sand.

Yeah, this trailer wasn't really especially impressive just in terms of being a trailer, as the shots just seemed kinda awkward, we didn't really get much new out of it and it just ends on a flat note.

But in terms of graphics... yeah, I don't know what's going on. The immediate excuses that you see don't really make sense. Like why the hell would they use a build that looks worse than ones they've shown off before? Why would they show off the xbox version when everyone shows their game's pc version to show the game at its best? And that wouldn't explain why the older trailers looked nicer. Seriously looked like they forgot to load the shaders or something in a lot of shots.
Anyway, I would hope someone acknowledges this in one way or another, since silence and half truths are the absolute worst so shortly before release.

i really dont think famitsu screenshots are from ps4, the texture on faces of that old lady and that little blue guy and geralts hair in the same pic with the blue kid confirms it has fur enabled on them which is why i think it is the pc version and and i didnt see any jaggies in pic where geralt is talking to some kids, so apparently aa is also applied.

so i dont think those are ps4 screenshots

Look at the header of this page ;)

"Lock this thread"? Really? So now every thread when people want to discuss their concerns will be locked? What is this shit? Bioware forum? I didnt know that this forum is only for fanboys.

Final warning.

Keep it civil please. As I've already stated, the thread will not be locked while people wish to make comments, but attacks on other forum members will not be tolerated.

Didn't read all the comments, but I hope no one had dare write 'graphics whores' or something of the sort

Yes, someone did. And no further comments of that nature will be tolerated.

i dont know why, but this just must be a consoole version. i dont believe, that cpr will release this version for pc. better see many bad quality trailers and be surprised on release date how great the graphic is in the end. the wow effect is selling too, you know

This was not the case for The Witcher 2. In fact the only time the game actually looked like it would on release was in the reveal trailer. Also, the famitsu screenshots were clearly made to show a graphical improvement in areas we saw in motion at E3. Those screenshots came out like 3 or so weeks ago. That is still close to launch, it doesn't make sense to put out a screenshot like that if the game won't look like it in the end. It's really hard to avoid if you do end up being dishonest since it's still fresh in peoples minds

No, don't point to that to prove it's PS4. That header is inputed by the person making the image. You can see PS4 buttons in this image that was in famitsu and also they said in the article it was PS4.

PC gaming is not big in Japan and neither is microsoft.

I have been planning to build a new rig because of The Witcher 3. Have always wanted to wait until system requirements even tho I want to play DA: I. If this trailer shows PC graphics high/above, I am very inclined to simply buy a PS4 instead as the amount of time I have for gaming isn't much. But both The Witcher 1 and The Witcher 2 are some of my most memorable RPG experiences so I'll wait and see.

Oh, I thought that was the Famitsu's creation. Sorry, my bad then.

Edit: And I didn't read your post completely. So that "is" actually a PS4 screenshot? Then I digress, I have no concerns whatsoever :)

It's really just the inconsistency that's bothering me. I mean, I thought the game during its last E3 build with the 30 minute gameplay looked excellent if they just made some minor adjustments. I don't understand how they could go backwards from that. Maybe it's just because the engine doesn't lend itself too well with the cutscenes or something? I mean in the previous games they were always pretty simplistic so maybe they've overestimated themselves.
Oh, and the stretched chain mail was really apparent.

Nothing in this looks worse than the E3 build. In fact it looks really similar to me. I'm pretty sure this is the same build as E3 or one around the same time. It looks closer to E3 than the recent Famitsu screenshots (Famitsu shots are only like 4 weeks old. Two of them we can easily compare to the 35 minute demo. It's been drastically improved based off them)

Marcin was just looking at this thread Hopefully he read a bit into it and not just the crappy OP. And by crappy I meant not explaining anything of what he was seeing or anything. Not personally attacking anyone. Im saying the quality of the OP was not very good

I went to check specific parts and I'm of the impression that it's mixed material, whether from older builds or weaker platforms, or both. Now bear with me, I have no idea about technical matters so I'm just writing from a layman's perspective. Would've made gifs if I was more competent.

Zoom-in on Geralt while surrounded by the Wild Hunt - I'm honestly not seeing severe difference between this image (which was paused during a fast-paced scene, lowering the quality) and what we've seen in the 35min. The only thing that felt particularly jarring was the chainarmor part of his outfit, which looks flat. So I went to the 35min video to see if it was much different, and found a few shots where it, likewise, looked flat:
Zoom-in on Geralt's, err, shoulder, during the 35min
So it's about the angles, I guess.

King of the Wild Hunt - Elder Blood trailer - then there are parts like this which look awesome,

Wild Hunt General - and parts like this which look like a parody.

Wild Hunt chasing Yennefer - considering the compression and how blurred this is due to being a chase scene, I think it's pretty good. Watching it in motion is better and I don't see anything different from the 35 minute footage.

Some parts look good, others terrible. I'm not sure what to make of this. Explaining which platform this is on might help to explain. By that I mean, if it's stated to be console, we'll let out a sigh of relief. If it'll be stated to be PC, then brows will be raised. That being said, I don't understand the rationale behind releasing material that isn't the best you can muster. Unless it is the best you can muster, in which case I'll just not believe you.

Not surprised, not surprised at all...
No matter how CDPR likes to advertise themselves as PC developer the truth is that they have always targeted console market, even since The Witcher 1 (which ended up in a disaster).
CDPR has been very quiet when it comes to PC community, no response when it comes them sleeping in bed with Nvidia, Gameworks black boxes and potential
bad performance that awaits users with AMD GPUs. They havent really addressed this issue from the start and all of the threads on this forum, where users showed they concerns on this matter, have been locked.
This downgrade is just a one more step in that direction.
To be honest maybe they didnt have the time to properly create a trailer, maybe they were surprised when they saw that they might even win so they did a quicky
but like I said before dont get your hopes up to high when it comes to this game, TW2 was barely playable and it required a dozen patches to make it perform decent on PC.

Because of better optimization they may have compelled to downgrade, guess a next-gen open world map that big and detailed wouldn't work well under 10 gbs of ram.
