They have told the community multiple times now: There won't be a downgrade. And yet people still complaining about a not finished product.

Can't really blame people for not believing that. Any company can easily after release claim "Well that was a work in progress" or "Well, it wasn't downgraded because it's never been better than it is now" or something. Now, if they said "It has not been down graded from the visuals in VGX/Famitsu/etc" then that's more specific and that is something that's hard to avoid if it turns out to be.

Lets say CDPR is not very CLEAR with what is what and why certain quality issues exist and in other places the graphics are top notch. We had the same problem with responses to the alchemy system and some other question we had.

We do not clearly know what platform or build the different scenes are from and we do know it is hard to make a such good-looking open world. Rumors on different pages as well as those strangely low-res screenshots that were released a while back made a lot of people nervous, maybe especially because multiple games now promised and showed things they could not hold (ACU, WD, Alien Colonial Marines and a few others) and this has become a common business practice. Maybe also because we know CDPR took a lot on their plates.

Confusing or half-truth statements, avoiding straight answers and unexplained quality inconsistencies rustle up some of the people here and they have a right to be at least insecure, I completely understand that.

On the one hand we have beautiful graphical fidelity, a good framerate, great story bits and pieces and awesome-sounding mechanic/system-concepts for the game. On the other hand we still have unanswered question or confusing statements concerning parts of the game that should already be finished IF they want to release it in February. I said it once before, I say it again, I do not mind another delay, IF this is what they absolutely need to release the game in a good quality. Quality over quantity and release time all the way. No matter how long it takes. They should just not pretend everything is fine if it is not.

Yes, probably a lot of us are stressed out because of nothing and in the end CDPR will deliver a great game. All I am saying is I understand why people are insecure, we got a lot of contradictory facts and statements flying around that should be cleared up. And if CDPR says "sorry, we didn't finish system X yet" that is OKAY, as long as they are convinced they will make it in time. And if CDPR says "sorry, we have NO idea how those low-res textures and that terrible frost-effect happened, we have to analyze that" than that is okay, as long as they know they can fix it before release. And if they say "look, some builds we used are older, others newer, because some regions/parts are still in the old build and are only near-finished in terms of polishing, texture, etc" than that is also okay, if they can assure us they can make it all until the game goes gold and is released in February.

But they need to say something. COMMUNICATE. Just go out there and reassure us. Just tell us "hey guys, the thing is that and that way, we got it all fixed till release, we are sure. And if not we will work on a day 1 patch" or "hey, we just need more time". They just have to TALK to us.

Good would be a strong, solid and totally true statement of CDPR clearly telling us what went wrong or what the problem is or how the system works or if they are finished with part X or Y of the game or not and then everything would be CLEAR for a change.

As long as our purchase depend on how we trust in that company, doesn't it?

@Mozalbete @Docttj
You should believe them on their reputation. Like you would any other company. CDPR has built itself a rep of being fair to their customers and gamers in general. (look at GoG.com and obviously TW2)

People have believed many companies off their reputation and have gotten kicked in the ass for it when it comes to video games and other industries. It's hard to be blindly trusting after seeing so many companies become the opposite of what they once were. I don't blame people for being untrusting nowadays. It's good they can always keep their expectations low because if something bad does happen then they aren't as hurt as some others might be.

Ubisoft told the PC communities several times that, with no doubt, there wouldn't be/hasn't been any downgrade. Surprise surprise, it was a lie. Words aren't worth much. New videos or screenshots are.

True, many people have, but usually those companies have been taken over by bigger companies like EA or UBI... just saying. ;P

Docttj, you've pretty much contributed a good mix between both sides of the argument; much appreciated. :D Also, I like the Big Boss-Geralt hybrid picture.

Also, I just want to say mods or someone can disable my post count if this is an issue. I really don't care about it.

Yeah, some are. Developers themselves can make stupid decisions and lie too though. Indies or AAA. Seems more recently it's been indies doing it. Just hard to be trusting of anyone now. Do I think there's been a downgrade? Not entirely, I have worries still though. Do I trust CDPR personally? I do. It's refreshing to even hear multiple statements about this. When that wolf screenshot came out and that "Neogaf insider" came out (Which I still believe is bullshit) Marcin made some statement to a small gaming news site but that was it.

Do you really that could happen?

Don't you know this community yet? Neither their mods? :(

If you think so it's easy to imagine how weak is the trust to CDPR.

I don't know. Someone claimed that I was padding my post count, and if this is an issue then I would be completely willing to have it disabled.

Yup the Neogaf insider thing was weird, especially since he was silent after his first post or so.

Indeed a awesome Snake Geralt. (or however a mix of the two is called.)
