Obvious Downgrade

Well compression quality aside there is something wrong with this trailer, here are couple of things I noticed.

1) The scar of Geralt's face doesn't look as detailed as it was in earlier screenshots/videos.
2) The quality of his beard and hairstyle looks bad.
3) The vegetation colors are washed out, they looked quite vibrant in earlier videos, specially 35 min gameplay video.
4) The chain-mail part of his armor looks like bump less texture instead of actual mesh.
5) Geralt's hairstyle used HairWorks I think ? which is apparently missing in this trailer.

If this is taken from an earlier build of the game then CDPR should tell us or maybe it's from console version ? I don't know but it doesn't look as good as previous trailers. In the end after this much time and the news of delay I wasn't waiting for this kind of trailer.

There is no downgrade, the only bad thing is the delay and is better than having bugs or stuttering.

i don't care for the dealy. i will not care if in may we will get another 12 months dealy. i wan't THIS quality. the message to all those Biowere's and fromsofwere and ubisoft and ea all thos SCUM parasites THIEVES!!! out there, must be sendt at all costs! they cannot buy everyone this has to stop! CDPR is a PC company!! is OUR PCists company! consoles already meanged to destroy ALL of the ips they gave birth too in more than 30 years and nowq they want ours too? It might explain the delay though. I have a feeling developers add the awesome level of detail once the greater parts, environment layout, etc are complete. Maybe there's more of this work, to turn it to today's standards, left to do than they imagined.. they haven't added all the detail required to make it look better than ps3 for that part of the game.

Geez if they only said something so much concern would be gone.

The question is why would they make a trailer on low PC setting ? this better be console version or earlier build otherwise it will be very disappointing, after all this hype and "We're creating the most beautiful looking RPG" claims if they give us a downgraded game then I'll loose trust on CDPR, they promised that they will take full advantage of every platform and their earlier trailers looked like taking full advantage of PC but not this one.

I say even TW2's Geralt looks much better than this, now if you say that it's looking bad because it's terribly compressed and so on then here is a compressed screenshot from earlier trailers

It's clear that even in a compressed screenshot from earlier trailers, his face looks quite detailed compared to this trailer, the scar, the facial hairs and the quality of chain mail are easy to notice.

At the risk of sounding pedantic (oh hell, I'm too old to worry about sounding pedantic anyway), there's two very different meanings of faith. @BlackToad and @SageFox hit on part of the difference. The rest of the difference is this: "faith" in commerce does not mean "belief without proof" or "gratitude". These are still admirable qualities, but faith in your business counterpart means something else.

It's usually expressed in the form "good faith and fair dealing". It means you expect your counterpart to live up to binding promises he or she made, and not try to weasel out of them by hairsplitting or technicalities. And it means you promise to do the same.

I've come to relinquish all uses of the word. Faith in this context is just trust. And that very much can be earned.

Faith is simple believing in something. Being that simple is what make different kind of faith, or different things leading to that faith. But as the fact of believe isn't at the same time a fact because believing implies assuming as a fact something that is not, then faith is a personal decision, and the difference is why you make the decision of having it. That is the difference.... Why.

Anyway talking about faith isn't like talking about technical or scientific topics.

My reasons are to common ones: one because i enjoyed the results of their work on The Witcher 2, and two because we gamers need it.

But, with the doubt the faith fades away.......and the silence is what feeds the doubt.

I don't think this is worth a discussion in a game forum, but I don't accept this definition or explanation of the terms, epistemologically speaking. Again, it is entirely down to what normative definition is being used.

Anyway, the 'faith', or the word I prefer trust in CDPR is earned through evidence, both historically and through simple reasoning. We're highly unlikely to see the quality we saw come release.

You both see things that aren't graphic quality downgrade, even you don't know what you are seeing.

For example, the "no mesh and plain textures" in the geralt's chainmail , who ever said that the chainmail was 3d designed? it was always been a texture, you see the texture expanding as the mesh change when Geralt rise his arm, you will only see that in those situations, but overall the quality of the armor is impressive, the texture in fact is top quality.

The last trailer, in 360p and taking shots of the worst parts of the game including the texture bug on the frost effect, isn't a proof of downgrade, downgrading means less detail in many parts or all parts of the game, not one , two or three. Those defects aren't real, you can find some others in the 35 minutes gameplay and that didn't make it look bad.

I don't understand why everyone is talking about downgrade game because of the consoles.... i mean, i'm a pc player but common, just look at The Order, Uncharted 4 and Quantum Break.... 3 beautiful games, consoles exclusives (at least for TO and U4).... Yeah PC is more powerful, everyone one know that, but consoles can still make great things.

a friend of mine acquired a version of the demo theyu showed at e3 and it said that it looked terrible but it was almost all becouse of stability issues and bugs ruining everything and not the overal quality itself, so what you are saying could be true.....let's hope it is

Well I disagree, in matters of technical quality and directly compared to the scene of SOD where he lifts his head up, I'd say its better.

Now when Geralt is on the boat or walking to the camera thats another story...

no YOU look at what they idd with watchdogs a game in witch a modder found DISABLED files and filters mere days after the release, after they said the game was not downgraded ( and yet look nothing like the trailers) or Assassin creed unity,wich looks like utter shit on both consoles and PC and yet has the systems requirments of a space program simulation, or Dragon age inqusition wich somehow runs super fine on consoles mounting mid tier 3 years old hardware and yet to be played at a slighly better setting on pc require SIL 980 USING 98% OF GPU POWERE EACH!, or what about dark souls II huh? let's talk about that a game they completly DESTROYED cohpping out the whole lighting system just to make it ru on those shitty pieces of trash and than 9 months after that BAM direct X11 versiobn pops out like magic...yeah the so called,nex gen version ( wich by the way is still NOWERE near the e3 trailer) a version for witch you have to,gues what PAY FULL PRICE AGAIN. if you happen to be so stupid to posses the orginal chopped version. so YEAH console ARE the bane of existense are killing this industry and the dev who advertize theyr products like those companies responsable for the games i listed did only to release them HEAVILY downgrade afterwards like they did should be putted on death row!

We already resumed quite well what Faith is and "trust in something without proof" is part of it. It's in the dictionary if you want to know a concrete terminology.

"Trusting" in what i said or not, is irrelevant.

Anyway is on topic, faith, trust , hope , they all are on CDPR for this game and the doubts about it.

I very much love uncharted (close to flawless, and damn shame its console only) but the reason that series always was a few leagues above other ps3 games was its a very very narrow linear corridor shooter. Its the brilliance of the set piece design makes you forget that.. but i'm guessing that's how they achieved such high levels of detail, you literally can't walk the camera to see the world, you can only see inside the canyon so all they have to render is that. But i gotta say again uncharted is damn near perfect and not a bad thing to say.

Also someone posted a link to a video with nvidia effects for us master race users... if any of the trailers were made using console builds, the fog, hair, and lights, wont be like that as consoles == ati. If promotions need to use the worst possible platform to not get people crying about advertisting good graphics and selling a (much) lesser version.. this is correct! But we just need a hint that the platforms that can take it wont be restrained to make parity.. especially since the worst platform is providing marketing funds... (it still makes me ask as a business, if you cared about the product, wouldnt you persue business relationships with the BEST platform to show your talent.. rather than the most loose in money? Of course money.)

EDIT: See we shouldn't grudge one relase console users getting something that looks like a ps3 LOD.. that's all their console can handle. And it is a downgrade. But that's not bad right, if it can't run it cant run. All we need is word that the platforms that can run are going to be able to.
