Odd FCR 1.6 bug (TW EE)
Hello everyone!
I've recently decided to go for an umpteenth playthrough of that ageless classic: TW EE. On my last playthrough, I installed Flash Mod, and very much enjoyed it. For this playthrough, I decided to use Flash's FCR 1.6, which seemed quite good.
Before I go any further, I should point out that I completely uninstalled Flash Mod before installing FCR 1.6, and have no other mods installed except for the scabbard mod (which Flash specifically indicates as compatible).
I launched the game, chose hard mode, and everything started quite nicely. I sliced up a few bandits in the prologue, but something went wrong: the bandit on which I'm supposed to use the fast style is absolutely impossible to hit. And believe me: I spent 10+ minutes trying. It was a silly time: he couldn't hit me because of my FCR-enchanced witcher reflexes, and I couldn't hit him because.... potatoe?
Obviously, I tried reloading, changing difficulties ("easy mode" really bruised my ego, but I tried it, for science), nothing would do it. So I decided to try bypassing him entirely, and ran straight to the collapsing stairs in the prologue. Unfortunately, there were more guys like him after that, so it was back to the old drawing board.
In the manual, and unless I'm quite mistaken, Flash explains that mobs have armor according to what they're actually wearing as opposed to a set numerical value, which perhaps explains why I also had trouble with Savolla. In case I haven't been clear, it's these guys:
From what I understand on how FCR is supposed to work, mobs have a certain damage threshold, and if you do less damage than that threshold, you're screwed. So if a mob has a threshold of 8 and you do 7, you won't be able to touch it at all, which seems to be what's happening to me.
Here's the thing though: it's literally the 7th mob in the game. I have no potions, no oils, a godawful rusty sword, and no talent points.
Now, I tried uninstalling FCR, killing him and his friends, and reinstalling FCR. My reasoning was that the main reason FCR requires a new game is because of talent points. So I guessed that installing FCR over a save with no talent points yet wouldn't be a problem. Well, it wasn't a problem, and I hoped that spending points in damage talents would help, but the thugs I run into while looking for the potion for Triss are still immortal - at least those who look like that guy I linked to. The others die just fine.
So basically, I'm stuck and a tad frustrated. I've tried everything I could think of, but these mobs seem to be bugged out, and I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S.: unrelated, but if anyone knows of a decent vsync option for TW EE, I'd appreciate it!
