Official system requirements

If to look around our forum for the most frequently asked questions, the issue of system requirements would undoubtedly be on the top of the list. Beforehand, we posted a couple of estimates regarding necessary system specs. Today, however, you can find the final system requirements for the game (as seen on the actual box for the game).

Hmmmm, finally the system requirements. A bit high if you ask me. I'm wondering if the game is playable if you got the minimum system specs or that you have to deal with a complete lagging game. My comp can handle it though, so i'm happy :D

Recommended cpu specifications look high. I also a bit worried that they say 2 gig is the recommended. Might need to add some ram and oc the cpu.

LOL! No, not really. There are FAR better PCs than mine. But What I was hoping for is SLI support and other such things.

You do realize that we're still talking about a non first person RPG here , right ?Going for SLI here would be overkill .

Huh?! What does the camera positioning have to do with SLI support?

It will run on my rig. Might have to cut down on grass and such but it will run.Still, I have to start saving for a new rig.

Games that are first person generally have more detailed assets. Look at Dungeon Siege, for instance. Zoomed right in the graphics weren't nearly as detailed as first-person games released around the same time, but at the further distances the developers really intended the graphics worked well. This means that first-person games are generally more taxing and thus make SLI more necessary.

True (first person) but, would you not still want as much as you can get? Hell, wish my peice of shyte Dell BTX Motherboard supported SLI. First person or not! ;DI have no problems killing ants with shotguns. ;)But, I should be able to handle medium-high on my clunker, so I am happy.

Oh, please. ::) This is not about what I have. Forget about me.I am just saying that higher requirements would mean that the game remains competitive longer. Remember when DOOM3 came out? Nobody had 512MB video cards back then so nobody could play it on FULL settings. But later, these cards came out and lo and behold, everyone was happy. All games should have a little bit of a reserve. That way they would last longer.

Well. You know. Maybe for USA or some other western country there is no big delay between system requirements of The Witcher and generals computers in use. But for such countries like Russia, Ukraine, Poland and many other countries with another level of life this delay is quite big. I think only in a half a year or even more such configurations becomes standard for general user. So we can live in different countries on the same level. So I have 350$ but almost everything is cheaper, and you for example 2500$ but almost everything is much expansive. But! Computers have the approximately same price both in America and Ukraine. So there is much less problem for you to pay 2500$ for great PC-configuration, but for me and many others it's really hard. So we aren't happy to have possibility to play The Witcher in high resolution in a year, we want do it at the end of October! And in a year, we'd like to play addon ;)
