ok...this is sad. (Deus Ex, the witcher 3 and NG+)

Also, we went through this, the dev time required would be minimal.

Yes, we went through this before, and this time you are not going to convince anyone either.
Again, want NG+? REDKit or a quick edit of some xml files can give it to you.

riveting tale chap

Problem is, not only I game on console so that is unavailable to me, but worse PC players can and will give themselves NG+ pretty much at will whether CDPR adds the feature of not, console players will just not have it unless it is added by the devs.

No I am not switching to PC TYVM

It doesn't matter what you say the way you say it is the most important thing

. I am a fan of NG+ because it's there as an option, if someone doesn't like it you don't have to use it. NG plus should not be a copy-paste thing where it should be exactly the same in 2 different cases.. If Dark Souls' NG+ was copy pasted in TW3 it would seem out of place and it would be best to avoid that, but if an NG+ developed specifically for TW3 was to be implemented I don't see how it would do any damage, it's always optional so it's there for those who enjoyed the story but want to find a greater challenge and delve deeper into the gameplay. So in my humble opinion I think that a lot of people completely reject NG+ because they compare it to other games and think of them just copy pasted in TW3 (and that is not good for me either). But open your mind people and I say this with no offense think of what it could be if it was developed properly for a game such as TW3 and don't go like (oh it's gonna be horrible, oh it doesn't fit here) that. It could give many more hours of gameplay just for that and if it was to be created in a way that it would not affect the story I wouldn't refuse such an offer so quickly, even though I see your point and what kind of damage it would do if it was done wrong..

Too many "fairly inexpensive features" add up to a delayed release and bugs at release.

Developers who actually have to manage their projects and get them done on time have a bad name for this way of tricking them into accepting requirements that are "fairly inexpensive features". It's called "feature creep".

A developer's "no comment" to a "feature creep" request is a polite way of not saying "get lost".

adorable, but in all fairness I got the same answer when I asked about NG+ in Crysis 2....guess what crysis 2 has?

I guess they told you to get lost for another reason. Guy N'Wah is right - extra-features mean extra-time and money in development. In present economy it is not a great business move to make. I am sure if CDPR decide it is worth it, they will implement it.

of course, no, I was told no comment because marketing and branding decide when to make certain features public, in this case the feature was made public during a gamespot live demo weeks before release.

All in all hope is last to die but at this point I would even welcome a definite "no" as an answer so I could stop obsessing about it, it's not like I could even preorder the game right now if they gave me a definite yes

Don't get worked up here, you got your answer from both the community and the devs. You have 3 options:

1. start a petition

2. Get a P.C

3. Accept it and move on

In this case it strongly depends on how it's done. If they allowed Geralt to keep his orens I seriously doubt it would have any effect on the rest of the game from a developer's standpoint. You wouldn't need to do more than a sanity test on the NG+ feature. If, on the other hand, you gave him all his items then you'd be opening up a lot of possible problems.

NG+ has the potential to ruin the balance of a game, but if it's optional and some people want it then why not?

My vote is: either no NG+ or a very simple and optional NG+ that doesn't require more than 10 man-hours to implement.

One example is some of the ME games, where NG+ takes the form of an extra 10% weapons damage and a free talent (if I remember right).

you don't, those are perks given by mastery weapons achievements.

Yet its NG+ requires a simple save (already present in the main game) and minimal flagging so it would fit your criteria

1 done that

2 heeeell no

3 might do that if Destiny turns out to be pure awesomesauce....but it is unlikely

Sure. I don't think too many people here are purists, and would consider any kind of NG+ in TW3 an abomination. Actually, some games do not call it NG+, but simply unlock some extra mode. For example, in Alpha Protocol you can play as Veteran only if you completed the game on Recruit. So if in TW3 one mode will be unlockable, it will be the same as NG+.

not even remotely similar if there is no carryover of progression

Not CDPR's fault you decided on the inferior medium.

With all of those negative thumbs, not surprising.

I kid, I kid.. ;)

But seriously. Couldn't care less about NG+.

I don't understand why it would matter even if there is a NG+ feature. I dislike the idea of using such a feature for my gameplay, but I don't care if the Devs add it for others. We know that TW3 is going to be a fairly time-consuming game (and we'll love every minute of it :]), but I can see how some people might just want to be OP from the beginning so all they have to do is get their earned rewards from the previous playthrough, and just continue with the different storylines..on that note, I'd rather TW3 have some sort of storymode option of game difficulty with easy-peasy combat so it's relatively easy to enjoy the story instead of getting stuck fighting (as much as I enjoy it, sometimes there's no time :p)

More to the point- a NG+ feature does fuck up the logic of the game, besides other things; I mean, how the hell does Geralt have all this shit in the beginning of his journey..oh yeah, it's just a videogame.

Well, whatever really, the devs should add the feature if it makes sense for the game.

NG+ would be awesome. I like being able to go through fresh with uber-epic items and then find even cooler stuff. However, NG+ is way low on my priorities for TW3 - every possible spare man-hour should be spent adding connections to TW1 and TW2 to reflect more difference from save imports. That's what will truly give the game (trilogy) a unique longevity, not NG+.

Well, to each its own I guess.
I wouldnt mind, but I am a kind of completionist, I usually want to SEE EVERYTHING in a game by the time its over. I rarely do a second playthrough. So it takes me a while to complete a game. Also, that is why it takes me HOURS to create a character (ME games were a BOTHER, no chance to skip prologue to custom and fine tune your avatar - what a bitch!).

If others want it and devs have time & resources to spare then why not? I personally always prefer to gather cool lookin gear rather than max out. For me its always a compromise between design and stats.
In dragon age games I found myself using inferior gear because those legendary items looked gay.

BTW I must point out that OP wrote he doesnt buy games without NG+ feature... with TW being an exception. So, do you really need this feature to enjoy The Witcher series?
I think you already do

well I bought TW2 because a friend erroneously told me that the EE had NG+, so I found out after playing midway through the game and said "what the hell let's finish this"

then to re-play the game I simply got to Flotsom and IMMEDIATELY ground, and ground, and ground until I got to level 16 or so with tons of Oren. Saved there, clouded the save and used that save for future playthroughs as a NG+ of sorts. With all those Orens I could easily purchase the best equipment at the beginning of each chapter and keep going. It was not flawless NG+ but better than nothing, allowed me to play the game some 5 times or so
