Ok wtf is up with the ranking system?

So I was Rank 21 with 5/5 mosaic pieces. I loose 1 game and it goes down to 4/5 mosaic pieces. Wtf?

Surely if I have 5/5, that's 100% of pieces, rank 21 should be completed and I should be moved up to Rank 20 0/5 pieces?

Seems dumb that you can loose pieces even though I got the Rank 21 completed quest

Edit: Just looked around the interwebz and apparently this is how it works. Completely counter-intuitive if you ask me.

You get 5 pieces - you get the rank avatar. That's "completing" the rank. But to move higher you have to get the first piece of the next rank. Ha, and be happy you can't lose ranks anymore. Watching your avatar pieces going down to 0 and then to 5 of the lower rank was pure horror. And you only lose 2 ranks between seasons (even on high ranks), not 4.
