Old Flotsam Mod

Old Flotsam Mod

I played a little around with the Flotsam level in Redkit after looking at the Witcher 2 Artbook yesterday. The first pictures in the artbook show Flotsam as a really dark and rainy place without the giant trees leaning over the town wall. Altough I really love the Flotsam we have in The Witcher 2, I thought that I might give it a shot and try recreating the look from the artwork just to see if it is doable.
So basically right now I only erased the trees and some other minor stuff and took the lighting from Lykaon to see how it would look. I wonder, would you guys be interested in a Flotsam with this look? If yes, then I would add different trees, create a lighting that fits the artwork, etc.
Those are two screenshots from Flotsam without trees and using the Lykaon lighting and sky:

No it didn't look silly. I actually enjoyed the atmosphere it brought.

On the subject. Try adding constant rain, ponds of water on the ground if possible. Tree branches perhaps make buildings less colorful. Less flowers more cloudy sky.

I demand more white colour! :p
And yeah no need for giant trees, but on another hand how would you make every thing else to fit the style?

Excellent work! I would put the trees back in and try to capture the mood of that artwork. I love the Flotsam we have as well, but something grimmer would be nice to see.

I think those giant trees are awesome, removing them would kill it for me.
Maybe just adding a darker lighting and more rain would do it?

Looks great. Lighting looks more like TW1 (which is a good thing because TW2 was really colourful).

Way too dark and depressing. Looks like a town under siege, or something. Darkness for a sake of darkness is no good. You know, it is much scarier when some place looks bright and inviting, but underneaths all that things are horrible. For me danger of Flotsam was something not obviously expected, and it was interesting to uncover town's dark secrets, and to be surprised. Art style like this would be the biggest spoiler.

I have good feeling about it. first of all keep in mind that whatever decision you make for Flotsam trees should be applied on the nearby forest as well. you might as well think about making that forest gloomy like no man's land or something like that.

Is it technically possible to define different moonlight (lighting) depending on night hour ? if yes then I think that would give your mod something unique. (currently in vanilla game, night is mostly the same in the period of 9pm - 5am)

Is it possible to add heavy cloud and fog in REDKit ?

Everything is possible, it just depends on how good it looks in the end. I will experiment with some things. :)

Haha, not so fast. I have a lot to do and I am also doing Lykaon. So don't expect a release next week. But it shouldn't be too long. ;)
I also want to create custom trees, etc. that would fit this atmosphere.
