I wonder what cdpr will show at e3, considering that BaW will be released way before it.

Usually a bad idea to change development tools in the middle of active game development. You make a mistake you lose hours, days, weeks of development time. You do this stuff between games. However, this has virtually no effect during the design and concept phase because they don't involve large amounts of people.

And don't forget that they had a lot of troubles with their engine before they released TW3. Especially regarding streaming, they hat lots of problems. Streaming is a picky topic and they haven't done it before and as CP77 is also open world with a large amount of objects I think this caused/will cause also a lot of work. Streaming a city has completely different requirements than streaming woods and open fields. There is also a lot more room for optimization.

I really doubt it.
Unless they want to make us a surprise, but otherwise, no.

Not getting my hopes too high. Not this year. E3 2017 - maybe first screens and some more details about the game?

I'd be pleasantly surprised, with an emphasis on surprised, to see anything on CP2077 at E3 2016.

Maybe some information at the end of the year. There was always a long time span between announcement and release of CDPR games but other companies keep this time span rather short.

What do you think traversing mechanic to new areas should be ?

  1. Should player be able to ride the vehicle (as in Borderlands) ?
  2. Should it be a gimmick ? For example, using a metro to go to new hub areas.

Yeah, I think they are waiting for the year 2020...

I lost my faith in CDPR.. ITS BEEN YEARS... And not even a little update... Nothing... How sad..

You know, at this point I would have settled for a blog post just describing the game..

I will crawl into my bad and cry silently now..

i don't know...i think a small new e3 trailer of some sort could be justified, just 'cause it may help the overall sales in the long run.
remember the hype caused by the release of a small gtaV trailer 1,5 year prior to the game release?
I know, rpg games are not mainstream as a gta franchise, but still imho that move was at the time a clear cut move of marketing (and it was very effective).
Ok, we already have an old cinematic trailer, but a new one? yes please :).

I think it would too. For a number of reasons, some of which being purely selfish. Although, they might not want to shift the focus of their audience so soon after the launch of Blood and Wine (if I remember correctly it was to be released a bit before E3).

I'd imagine with the first cp trailer they would want to drive sales towards preorders. there is not much point in "general purpose hype".
and I also think they learned from the witcher and aren't gonna have preorders a year before release. thus I conclude no trailers for a while.

Don't expect Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 - or any time soon

There are whispers and speculation but I can tell you Cyberpunk 2077 will definitely not be at E3 this year. That comes from the horse's mouth: CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski himself.

"It might happen that we will be at E3 and we will show something at E3, but I just want to make it clear it's not Cyberpunk," he told me at Polish conference Digital Dragons recently. "We still have a lot of work to do with Cyberpunk."

I believe what CD Projekt Red will announce at E3 will be the game - or thing - it mentioned ina recent annual report. Under plans for 2016, CDPR mentioned, "A new type of video game format previously unexplored by the studio." That doesn't necessarily mean it's a game and doesn't necessarily mean it's coming out this year. But it could be both.

When I asked Iwinski if it will be this thing at E3 he said, "We will see." When I asked if we'll find out what it is at E3 he said, "Well, hopefully." And when I asked if it had anything to do with The Witcher he said, "Time will tell."

Cyberpunk won't be out before 2017 - something CDPR said in that same annual report - and perhaps it is even further away than that. That may seem surprising, given that it has been in development for a few years now - when I visited the studio in autumn 2013 there were 50 people upstairs already working on it (although I'm sure getting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt out of the door had an impact) - but when you release a game celebrated like Witcher 3 was, perceptions also change.

"When you release a game like The Witcher and create the expansions, the perception is not the pre-Witcher 3 expectation," said Iwinski. "The bar is higher - and it's externally and internally as well.

"I cannot talk about plans but we have to adjust to it and also adjust our own ambitions. Assuming that we could have something out this year, if it will not be better than Witcher 3, people [will say], 'Hmm, wow, why is it not better?' Witcher 3 set a certain bar and we definitely cannot go lower. It's always about improving and making new, pretty stuff, [and] storytelling games and mechanics and what not."

There was a suggestion recently that CD Projekt Red had been able to raise its ambitions with Cyberpunk following the commercial success of The Witcher 3, which propelled the company to record revenues. But Iwinski was reluctant to add momentum to this train of thought.

"This is a tricky part here because we shouldn't really talk about Cyberpunk," said Iwinski, "but I'll give you one reason why. Every single time I say something like this, like 'yes we can invest...' - which is true, essentially - it makes big news. And I think this big news is sort of becoming, first of all, repetitive, and second, maybe a bit too bloated. We are not spinning it into big news, and we really want to expose anything to be perceived like a big ego."

He said he's watched these news stories prompt accusations that CD Projekt Red promises more and more with Cyberpunk but doesn't show anything, which is exactly the opposite of what it apparently wants to do. This has irked Iwinski.

"Right now it's the end of talking about Cyberpunk until we can go out there and show stuff and say, 'Hey, here it is,' because that's how we do games," he said. "There is too much talking about what it possibly could be, and how big, and...

"When we show it, we should show it and explain it. So I'm going to have people not read anything about Cyberpunk probably for the next... time," he added, choosing his words carefully, "whatever the time will be."

Cyberpunk 2077 was announced very early, in May 2012, as a way of driving awareness and talent to the Polish studio - something that was harder pre-Witcher 3. It was announced as a non-linear, mature role-playing game that will offer different player-character classes to choose from. That aspect of the game also opens Cyberpunk to multiplayer, which apparently it will have.

Cyberpunk 2077 will become the primary focus of CD Projekt Red following the 31st May release of second Witcher 3 expansion, Blood and Wine. Our review of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine is live now. We loved it.

"time". let the speculation begin! :D

did he mean months? could it not even be next e3?
the plan was to come out with 2 games til '21. not saying anything throughout 2017 still fits the timeline.

Missing an E3 hype train this year means it's probably not going to be out before '17 E3, and what little information that has seeped through the cracks suggest that only now are they able to focus their full content team now that the last WItcher DLC is getting pushed out the door.

If their appeal of the Bethesda announcement/launch cycle for Fallout 4 is any indication, we may not hear anything official until a few months before launch. That being said, as far as Cyberpunk 2077 goes, the best time to set the clock by would be E3 '17 rather than E3 '16, with a fall/winter release at best, or a '18 launch at worst.

Only thing with the '15 Bethesda E3 presentation is that it was a non-contested mini-con preceding E3 proper. A Cyberpunk announcement at E3 '17 is going to have very, very stiff competition. Nintendo is going to drop as much blitz on it's new NX system as it can, and EA has all but been in hibernation this year with CoD and AC taking time off from their typical annual checklist.

Unless there's something show-stealing, like working VR integration or some heavily inspired design implementation, CDPR's project could potentially be an honorable mention in the news flurry.

That, or an announcement well outside the E3 cycle entirely, which I would be concerned would be a lost opportunity, since people's awareness of Cyberpunk 20-anything is largely restricted to people familiar with the tabletop reference and a 3 year-old novelty teaser trailer. The information blackout wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't launched the teaser so obnoxiously early. Imagine if Bethesda launched their Fallout 4 trailer BEFORE the Skyrim launch. That's kinda what happened with Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk.

7/7/17 launch? maybe.
