You didn't like the game at all? I always enjoyed Tomb Raider and I liked the new one enough to be peeved that the sequel was a console only affair.

I wish I could say I did, I've been a fan since the very first game and even liked the recent games before the reboot, but this did not even feel like a Tomb Raider game to me at all. What appeals to me from the classic games were the puzzles, precise platforming mechanics and the complex level design itself.

Tomb Raider 2013 takes all of that away with a Batman style detective mode for what few puzzle rooms there are, QTE's replace the platforming sequences, level design is now a linear point A to point B poor mans metroidvania affair. Focus has become more on combating waves of enemies than level progression. The well hidden secret rooms with vital weapon caches of the old games have been turned into Far Cry style collectibles scattered around the map with little rhyme or reason. I could rant all day on this topic tbh.

I'm not going to be that guy and say no one should like the remakes because I don't, and I do feel bad for the people that will miss out on Rise of the Tomb Raider because of the exclusivity deal. But I have no desire to continue to play what the series has turned into.

So 2017 delay...

I'm saddened I wont get my sci-fi, fix until 2017 at the earliest. 5 years is a very long development cycle. I'm worried that it will actually becoming out in 2019. As I know when CDPR release an official trailer tends to be a year before the release date. Also worried if Cyberpunk 2077 runs into troubles like Wild Hunt it will be delayed until 2019.

Does anyone else share these concerns? I also feel the game was announced way to early.

Cheers,
Cyberpunk fan.

It wasn't announced - that was a fancy job offer for anyone interested. Think of it as pre production.

The game will run into troubles - that's the nature of software development.

2019 is quite possible.

On the other hand, 2019 beats never, which was the release date before CDPR decided to do it.

The trailer was like a calling card for people who would like to work on the game. But yeah the game was officially announced before the trailer was released.

The impatient part in me also frets about how far away the release of this game is. I've played through the Witcher 3 twice now, and will likely play more when the two expansions are released. But even then, that will leave at least a year and a half until this game is out with nothing new from CDPR to play.

On that note, I always wondered how developers make money in the "off years" before the game hits the market.

I like what I read in that article. I mean sure, it will suck to not really get to know anything about the game, and it's development untill something like 6 months befor it comes out.

But at the same time, Bethesda's reveal of Fallout 4 at this E3, was REALLY good, in my mind it is probably the best reveal the entire E3 (Bethesdas entire conferance was the best one there to in my mind). I saw it live and I could really feel it when they finally, for the first time, officially revealed FO4... and then when they at the end said that it was going to be released in november 2015, 5 months from now... that feeling was... awesome. I also felt the same thing with XCOM 2, which was revealed not that many weeks earlier, also for a november 2015 released.

Then compare that to some of the other reveals at E3 there, or compare it to seeing some reveal trailer for a game, or a movie, or what ever, and it's really awesome, so awesome that your hypemeter dings to the top and the only thing that runs through you mind is "MUST PLAY/SEE THIS THING!"... and then at the end it say "Release: Fall 2017", and suddenly all that hype is massivly dampened as you go "What?! Two years? Damn it!"

Unfortunatly all of us here has technicly gone through this... with all of us probably seeing the CP2077 trailer (possibly reading some article... and then seeing the trailer)... and then at some point eventually realizing that it's not going to be anytime soon. Granted... a lot of us have spent a long time on this forum, I am already at a bit over 2 years now (although the first several months I was just sneaking around in the shadows befor I finally registered in september of 2013), and we have had a lot of great conversations... and I have pommeled you all with massivly oversized posts, you poor bastards... XD

But I think all of us would probably have been a lot more happy if that initial CP2077 trailer had said "release: Fall 2013" at the end. Now we just have to wait for it to happen at a later date... hopefully not to many years from now though.

2 years

2 years have passed since the trailer, after that, NOTHING.
I'm starting to think the developing is stuck and maybe it's not to restarting.
It's possible after 2 years we don't have nothing but 1 trailer????

CP2077 is alive and well, it's just not CDPRs policy to talk much about their projects, other then to reveal they exist, until a few months before release.

And ... welcome to the forums!

the artstyle is perfect as it is, what's the problem if the cop is wearing an armour under the jacket!? maybe it's not even an armor, it's an skin-armored-implant or something, we all have different opinions about cyberpunk, but at this point, there is very few, almost nothng of artstyle to talk about, it will change during development,
and the music fits the trailer perfectly :)

Did they finally started production/implementation phase?

So i did some research and they have alot open positions for Cyberpunk, mostly for programmers and arists. This may mean that the concept, writing, design and prototyping phases are done :) . We can now only pray for smooth ride when coding without some bigger problems like in Witcher 3 development :p. http://en.cdprojektred.com/jobs/?job-project=cyberpunk-2077

Senior vehicle artist :surprise:sounds a lot like we are getting our driveable vehicles, cause why else would they invest such effort into vehicle designs if they would be just decoration

Yeaaah. Maybe. @wisdom000 would love this, but really, vehicles are a big part of 2020 life, so they'd need a vehicle artist no matter if we drive them, if we just ride in them or if only NPCs get to whiz around in them.

I am not surprised there will be vehicles. I mean, look at Wild Hunt - a lot of ground to cover, if you don't use fast travel. I would be surprised if the world of Cyberpunk 2077 ended up being so small that it'd not require a vehicle to move around it. Especially when it has been confirmed that CP77 is supposed to be a sandbox with an open world. Presenting the game like that they were basically bound to put in some wheels.

Question is how varied vehicles will be, in terms of visual design and properties and how much will they add to the gameplay. I really hope it'll be much more than "drive from point A to point B" kind of thing. I can imagine a lot of cool things to do with them. If we'll get 1/4 of that I will be happy.

Imagine the definition of Nomads in a Cyberpunk 2077 game without drivable vehicles: Promenade warriors and gypsies who roam the sidewalks! Now that sounds like something I want to play as.

If only we had some of those tiny insectoid camera drones to smuggle into CDPR headquarters.
