In Strategy Update video,Piotr Nielubowicz said nearly 1000 person focues on developing AAA rpgs, and GWENT team is about 150 people. So what others are doing?

well we cant forget all the none devs either. CDPR has a big studio and they need people to help other tasks. needed people to translate the game. needed people to clean the offices at CDPR studio. the person who went and made store runs for coffee and snacks to keep the devs well fed during work ect. idk man. devs aint the only ones working either.

Because you don't need full team to work on bugfixes, DLCs and expansions. All the assets are already created, all core gameplay systems are there, too.

I think its a great myth that all game devs are software engineers. What I learned from the modding community is you have a large number of people with very diverse skill sets - 2D artists, 3D artists, animators, programmers, math heads (who may or may not be programmers), musicians, audio engineers (who may or may not be math heads), technical writers (who may have a specialisation in one or more of the above disciplines to be able to document solved problems) and creative writers etc.

I sometimes see people who are very skilled 3D artists and software devs. Very rarely you get a "magical bastard" who seems to be very high level at everything.

I imagine there is a similar dynamic in a professional game development studio. You bring lots of different people together with lots of different skill sets and solve problems collaboratively. If you run into a problem that is highly multidisciplinary (i.e. requires tool development, deep understanding of 3D artistry/workflow and 2D artistry/workflow), its time to msg one of your magical bastards. But not every problem requires everyone's specialist knowledge, all the time.

The game has been released so the majority of people involved has finished to work on the game, but there's still DLC, bug fixes, and the next gen update coming in the second half of the year.

I could be wrong but there's also a separate department (or sister company?) for the open-world-part of Cyberpunk 2077 which might not be considered as being part of CD Projekt RED.

So from all the studio 500 people is still working on the game? That's more than I expected!

I already wrote this before a couple of times in different topics, but if you watch the credits of CP2077, there were a lot of 3rd party companies invloved in the game, focused on different tasks. Hence the difference between 530 and 5200+ people.

To me the writing is on the wall: they need to scale back. 530 isn't nearly enough when you look at other open world games produced on that scale - namely Red Dead and Asscreed. They have at least 2000 people per team for those games. The reality is CDPR barely stitched TW3 together in time for release. All the Dev interviews and 6 months of post release patching confirm that. I don't see how they can keep this trend up.
