I would like to say this is a fantastic game, i am loving every minute of it there is only a few down sides which most were fixed in the latest patch :)The one down side which I have and is still present is the lighting effect where if I run everything on full i get lines and boxes on the peoples faces when I talk to them but is fixed when i put the lighting to medium. (gfx card 8800GTS)but all in all this is a wonderful game with a great storyline :) keep it up :)kind regards Nate

Currently I am near the end of Chapter II and your game...well... your game has been one of the very, very, very few that actually made me go: "Screw the work, time to play" when it shouldn't.I'm a very responsable guy with my University work (or college...I think) but your game, it's giving me such a pleasure journey throu this world, eck, so addicting :DThe story so far has been amazing (the body at the crypt... I gave away a big "F*CK!" with the surprise I got) and the world is beautiful, filled with interesting details and characters. The day I bought the game, I also upgraded my PC with a Radeon HD 3850 and I'm playing everything maxed out, and wow... I was amazed with the light effects and details around the world. If you keep up this great work, count me in to buy your next projects ;D

The game is without doupt the RPG of the year.Although it has a problem which at least for me is quite irritating. You can't walk in OTS.The whole rpg concept is about creating the right atmosphere and the right gameplay. The Witcher has a great rpg atmosphere and combined with some action elements its a great game. But I think that the lack of walking in OTS just in a way makes the whole experience less realistic and rpg style. Its my opinion and I don't know what the rest of you believe but I hope that in the next patch the create a walk button. :p

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the most annoying thing about the game is the COMBAT! That is one of the fundamental aspects of RPG games... if the storyline is ok, and the grphics and character interaction are all ok-ish (which they are in witcher) then why is the combat overly complicated - it almost feels as though this was supposed to be an action adventure rather than a 3d RPG game... ?The mix of annoying combat and restricted pathways through areas really started to annoy... and the camera angles during combat - often annoyed as well. This is such a shame as after the nicely rendered opening animation I was all set for an adult exciting well written adventure... what Ive got instead is a mix of arcade elements thrown in with traditional rpg elements and some slightly dodgy storytelling that dont quite all work together. Its a nice try - but thats all it is a nice try... its not got the open-ness / non linearity (if thats the right word) of Oblivion or the story qualities of Bio Shock / System shock nor has it the gameplay of Never Winter Nights.... Witcher is up against stiff competition and doesnt quite match up....Anybody else think this or is everyone on her just "in love" with this game ?

I was kinda enjoying the game. Apart from loads and crashes, immersion ruined  Then couldn't get past chapter 1, because two characters have disappeared. After finding out this is because COPY PROTECTION thinks my REGISTERED game is a copy STARFORCE all over again. This just sucks. I do not have the patience to redo from another saved game. hope this gets the same press as other starforce games. after running around looking for non-existant characters i am finished with this Game???????Test in patience ....................................................

I had money for only one game during December and decided to get The Witcher due to the excellent ratings from gamers and reading quite a few opinions. Decided to give FPS games a miss due to the usual short single player experience on offer and it has been some since I last tackled a RPG. The Witcher certainly lived up to the great recommendations it received. The game (story and world) has kept me thoroughly entertained throughout December and intrigued right to the end. I enjoyed being able to mold Geralt into the particular type of character I thought he should be. Some twists and consequences of decisions taken in the game really suprised me and I liked the attack modes stringing combos together in stead of mindless left-clicking. Being caught with a wrong type of sword surrounded by a few enemies really caused panic a couple of times. The potions added an interesting strategic element to battles (especially on the most difficult mode). I thought the talent system worked well too and seemed more to complement the character rather than being defining attributes. I rarely felt that I was stuck with the wrong set of attributes for a particular situation and even then there was usually always some type of workaround option. Some things I thought that could be improved upon:- Inventory management- Some camera glitches (fatal when happening during combat)- Some minor graphical slowdowns at times (occurred very rarely)- Quest distribution (Act II is loaded with quests, Act III and IV are quieter and in effect feel more linear by comparison). I am replaying the game at the moment. Could have been that I missed a few ones the first time round.- Random annoying crashes.- Normal difficulty could have been a bit more challenging.- I invented some new choice vocabulary during the hellhound boss fight until I finally got it figured out. Other boss fights were "nicer".In all it is very evident when playing this game that it was created by a very passionate and determined team! I think the developers can be extremely pleased with what they have achieved. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Thank you very much for this game plays fantastic its only crashed twice in the past 4-5 days :) im very pleased with this currently running it at max on everything looks lush the detail is incredible and the story line so far very very deep and very gripping, i only see one fault with the game and thats no multiplayer would be nice if it could be a coop campaign me and a friend of mine would love to do that but that would of ment a hell of alot more scripting and tweaking so there goes that idea ;) but incredible game none the less thank you very much

I just finished the game the first time and I am sure I will play it at least once more.I must say this is a very good game and it became my new all-time favourite game. The story is deep, intense and well told. The cut-scenes are truely cinematic and the graphics are simply amazing. There are so many well-made characters with fantastic normal-maps, the depht-of-field effect is great and the static shadows plus dynamic lighting is really impressive. I love the architecture and the details everywhere. After patch 1.2 and after optimizing my pc the loading times became much faster and game-play was even more addicting. This game is a piece of art and I hope that many people have bought and will buy it so that there is any chance to see a sequel in the future.Best regards,Frank

i just got this game on friday. i was interested in the game before its release back in october but there were too many other good games coming out then (the orange box, gears of war, crysis. UT3) so i left it. i saw the limited edition in the january sale on friday for just £30 (usually £40, and the standard edition was even £25) and it was an offer i didnt want to pass up so i bought it. im glad i did.although the cameras were slightly confusing at first compared to other RPGs, ive kinda got used to the OST view. the controls for the different battle modes, weapons and inventory windows are easy to remember and easy to access on the keyboard. the combat is more engaging that most RPGs aswell, you dont just click the enemy and then wait while your character beats it to death a turn at a time, but you have to click and time your blows all the time during the battle. the story and characters are interesting, the quests are fun and plenty and the environments are easy to navigate and get used to.my one problem is the loading times. although they are slightly quicker on lower graphics settings they can get a bit annoying. its not so much the loading that takes time but the saving at the same time. is there an option to disable the saving after the loading of a new area?this game is really interesting and is so far one of the most engaging RPGs ive played for a while. the limited edition has added a new dimension to my appreciation of the game. the artbook itself manages to raise my interest in it by showing the concept images for locations, characters, weapons and much more. it allows a whole new appreciation of the game and what the developers did to create it. if only more games had limited/collectors editions with artbooks of this quality, just a shame it wasnt a hardback.

Patch your game to 1.2 version. It improves saving time very much (max 4-5 seconds on my PC) and reduces loading times up to 50% (it depends on PC etc.). Afer patching it is really fun to play it :p.

When I started to play the game I was sucked into the world at once and didn't want to stop playing it. I have to agree with Daerdin, why has a day only 24 hours!A few things could have been better (bugs, more fleshing out some of the characters), but whom am I to complain - it was your first game of Witcherland and who's perfect :)I enjoyed every minute of the game and hope the next one will be as good or even better!

I have to say The Witcher was a nice surprise for me my 360 was having major trouble and I was unable to play mass effect, I ended up picking up the witcher to fill the gap till my 360 was repaired not really expecting anything. But when I played the game I was delighted the main character was actually cool, the world felt real, the characters were great and there was so much to do. I loved the way combat was done even though many seemed to not like it.Of course I had problems with it running on Vista every now and again the game would crash which was very annoying but me liking the game so much just made to reload it up again, I was a bit disappointed as I thought the world was going to be alot bigger than it was due to the map but of course the game being so good it did not bother me too much. I really hated the inventory system it got to the point when I lost all control of what was in my bag and just hoped I had enough to make the pots i wanted.By the way I loved all the mini games like dice poker and the sleeping with women I really hope you guys make an expansion as Im really looking forward to playing the game again.(just thought i should also add that a friend of mine who rarely plays RPG games loved the demo so much he ended up buying the full game)

Great game, dark and deep and adult. Need a patch though to take out the cards if you want to - that's tacky and bring the adult nature of this game in a good way to not a good way, also would love to be able to walk - y'know, like all the NPC's? It's just so console to have to make little 'runs' to keep up with NPC's you are walking with! The world is so beautiful I want to walk through it if I want to too! So please, a patch or mod to take out the cards and to be able to walk would be great! But other than the above niggles, I really hope this is the future of RPG gaming! It is almost movie like in it's presentation (Leo's burial scene and the goodbye to the Sorceress anyone!), I want expansions to this game that go on forever, or at least a Witcher 2 please - and I am only a dozen hours into this game! The 1.2 did the business on slow loading times, and other than the above, would not change anything technically! Well done guys! And good to see in the reader voting The Witcher is winning the Gamespot RPG of the year!!!!
