Finished the game two days ago. Had it for quite a while but my machine just wasn't up to scratch so I build a new one pretty much so i could play witcher with all the details and eyecandy.Definately love the game and the 1.2 patch has made a huge difference. Downer is that it does indeed crashes occasionally but I understand it's due to some suckyrom security that atari put in (grumbles about pirated software working better then bought stuff) Anyway that aside the game is fantastic and I'm looking forward to see more of this, If you make an expansion or even better a witcher 2 you'll definately have me as a customer. The only thing I did not like about the game is the over re-using of models and a few more different voices would have been nice as well .Apart from that, the story is superb, the gameplay is of a high standard and very intuitive, the graphics impressive one of the best RPG's I have played in a long long time. Many thanks for that

I grew up playing the King's Quest games ...Adventure disappeared ...First Person Shooters came out ...Now, finally, Adventure is Back!!!!This is by far, the single most impressive game I've ever played in my life--and I've played them all! The voice acting is PERFECT. The music is PERFECT. The graphics are PERFECT. The programming is PERFECT. The game engine is PERFECT. The rendering is PERFECT. The story is PERFECT. The swordplay is PERFECT. The characters are PERFECT.If you do not make a follow up game ... I'll be the saddest gamer in the world. Please plan on making this an INFINITE series. Do not plan to make 2 Witchers ... or even 3. Make them until the world ends ... as a gamer ... I beg you. Please, with the follow up games ... please continue having the story focus around Geralt ... I love the character. Please hire the same people who created the music for this game. Please hire the same voice actors ... Please make the next game take 16 years for me to beat...maybe have 300 chapters instead of 5. I love this game. I can't tell you enough how perfect this game is.Gamers have been waiting their whole lives for something like this. Please write the next Witcher as fast as you possibly can -- no sleep!:)

I am a seasoned gamer since... well... I can't even remember a time before I had video games (unfortunately? haha) and this game brings a tear to my eye. I echo the countless opinions before me in saying that these Polish newcomers in the gaming world have blown me away. They will go down in my book as one of the most impressive developers of our time. To tackle a genre of game that receives some of the most critical review and succeed so wonderfully is very refreshing. Most new developers can never quite cut it with the tight budgets and strict deadlines that they have to deal with, and end up destroying awesome concepts... but not these guys. I suspect that the repeated models and voice acting is one of those budgetary concerns, but that didn't take away from the full game immersion. This game will be replayed many times, and is easily one of my top 5 games of all time, I couldn't stop playing it until I beat it, and it has been years since I have found a game that grabbed me like that. I finished this game yesterday with a friend's copy, and today I bought my own to show my support of this budding developer. Everyone that has a genuine love for the RPG genre should really show their support and buy the game (face it we all know half of you are running pirate copies! ;) ) I for one want the Witcher franchise to survive for many sequels. My congratulations for all the awards The Witcher has won. I can only hope that the game sales is doing as well or better than they imagined so that they will be able to write their own ticket for the sequel, and make it even more stunning.

RedDragon - haven't you patched it? After I patched the game my load times went down dramatically. But one reason I think load times are getting longer in games generally is that games are now written for dual core processors now rather than single core, and dual core always speed up load times.

If theres a next witcher game, it should be similar to oblivion. For example travel back and forth from towns.I reconmend reading the book "The Last Wish"

well oblivion was the biggest disappointment since neverwinter nights for me personally. i think since gothic 1 and 2 i havent had a blast playing a rpg. witcher a game i was sceptical about (i was worried that its too action focused) really was the best game in this genre i played for a very long time. i am really gratefull. i just finished it and now i feel so empty (joke) i think i even might read a book about geralt :Dthe next part should be just like this one...an exciting story, lots of gore, many big boobs a little love - what do you want more? :beer:maybe some more buyable and on the character visible bags, and a more universial use of the metall weapon agains human..i never used the secondary weapons so the metal weapons should be improved for a little more variety.even though i liked the armor and was cool with the fact that u only have 3 outfits during the game but i think a little more variety in armor would be great and if its just details like shoulders, and boots or colors. also i d like a longer story .. a longer lasting game..but thats ased too much i think. i definately would like some add ons for this game.

If you disliked Oblivion, then that just shows how the opinions of gamers differs, depending on their playing style. I played it for over a year non-stop. Yet, for me, Witcher has proven to be somewhat of a step back due to the tightly scripted nature of the game. I lost over two hours of playing because of a quest that effectively put me in a catch-22 situation where I could not defeat a boss without certain potions, yet there was no way I could locate the items required to make them. A truly open-ended RPG won't do that to you.The game's eye candy is probably the biggest feature, along with the great soundtrack. The feel of the environment is truly amazing. However, the gameplay needs work. In Oblivion, if I don't block, I get hit. The choice is up to me. But controlling Geralt, the choice is not up to you (take his sword out and run awhile; he'll sheath it without you telling him to. For me, that's usually just before meeting an enemy). Or, try holding down the 'W' key while having him walk with his sword unsheathed, then press 'Tab' (still holding the 'W' key down). He'll stop and sheath his sword, then just stand there. I'll need to press the 'W' key again to get him to move. Also, I'd like to appreciate the motion capture during battles, but I'm afraid I'm too busy watching the cursor for the 'flamin' sword' so I can click juuuust right (that's so thrilling ...).This game has a ton of promise; my personal experience with it so far isn't as fulfilling as it could be.

Let's face it, mostly (not all the time), people that like Oblivion actually like it because of mods they have added to make the game better, the AI better, add more quests, creatures, etc. People that don't like Oblivion are talking about vanilla Oblivion and are thinking about their first gaming moments with the game. All games suffer against Oblivion because they are never going to get the 10,000 mods that Oblivion has got! I still play Oblivion after about 2 years, and it's because of mods like MMM and Lore Creatures and Francesco's additional weapons. These mods, plus many others, totally change the game, and in a way, it's not Oblivion anymore. Whatever this highly modded game is, it's that that I am playing, not Oblivion, per sae. The Witcher, along with Arx Fatalis and Two Worlds and others all suffer in a way because of this way that Oblivion can be heavily modded. When we talk about Witcher - we are talking about Witcher, with Oblivion, you can never be quite sure because of all these mods you may have added to the game!

Well lets see, Oblivions got the Hype, the Name, the Series, the Studio, the Hype, and its produced in Big Ameriland (did I mention the Hype?)Witchers got, a nice and solid Book Fan Base in the East (wonder how much of 'em re PCGamer), absolutely no name in the West, it's not really mainstream and it tries to be a Revolution fer the RPG (not to mention the first day Patch and several killing the game Bugs!)Whaddya think the people (in Europe and USA) 'll buy???Whaddya think will be more modded?

I live in Greece and i see more and more gamers play The Witcher and not only play, but actually love it! Because it is a revolution on RPGs. I saw people writing in Greek forums that they lost their sleep with this game, and there are several years from the last time they did that. The usual phrase is "it was not just my impression, then, the RPGs all these years were sooo bad"! The succession of The Witcher is not a product of the books-fans, it is product of true love for the RPGs from the developers, a good imagination, a very strong story, and a new fresh view of gameplaying.

I love this game. If I'm not careful it'll end in divorce :eek:The graphics are wonderful - I keep staring at the screen and forgetting to play. The story is good and immersive. So what if it's fairly linear, the story is very enjoyable. The motion capture combat is really good. As someone who knows a bit about sword fighting I can say that most of it (not all) is very lifelike.I've just finished the game on medium, and I'm ready for an immediate rerun on hard. I was good last time, so I think I'll oppress the non-humans this time ]:->PS. The ending video sequence was fantastic. Worth playing the game through again to see.
