A very warm welcome from Bulgaria to everybody in the forum and especially to the lovely team of CDProjekt.I'm a videogame journalist in the most famous and respected videogame magazine in our country - Gamers' Workshop (with 9 year history already).I just want to let you know that i wrote the article for The Witcher and it scores 10/10 in our December issue. This is a mark that we've given to very few games throughout the years and i want to congratulate you guys on a job extremely well done. I hope that this influences more people to buy the game in Bulgaria. Also i want to express my deepest gratitude for your efforts, which proved that even the biggest and greatest companies can and should learn from people like you. Because you are the future. I bought the Limited edition and if one day you make a Collector's edition i'll buy it too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.Simeon "SHRAiK" Cheshmedjiev

Greeting from Finland,I just finished the game and I gotta admit that it was one of my best RPG experiences, so it goes nearly right next to legendary Baldur's Gates and Planescape Tournament. I'd like to thank CDProjekt Red for the great game and wish all the best for your future projects what ever you'll be up to, but hopefully it includes Geralt and his friends. Anyway, a great game and absolutely the best new one I've tried this year, so I'm gonna give my to The Witcher in those GotY-polls I'll encounter.Terrakki ~ Eagerly awaiting a sequel. ^__^

great game!! I started it a few days ago, and i think it was time for us RPG gamers to get a game as classy as that one! Almost everything is perfect and the immersion is really good!

The Witcher is a memorable, nay unforgettable game in the sense that it is a true work of art. From the ground up it was meticulously crafted and seasoned as if it were a mixture itself, In a way it's synonomous with its own playstyle formula, using Alchemy and creating something so much greater than the sum of its parts. The Witcher is a formula, complex yet wonderful, It is an authentic recipe for a rich, mesmerizing and gothic experience that most RPG enthusiasts' won't soon forget. Granted that on most typical sysems it cannot be ran at full specs but even on the lowest settings it is still breathtaking. The Witcher should serve as an example of what a focused and talented development team can do with a typical and simplistic story that is reportedly based off a series of books. Given that the game is new we can only hope for more patches to address certain issues and for possible expansion content. ;)

I registered just a few moments ago to because i wanted to voice my sincere gratitude for a spectacular job well done! I have played every type of video game ever created, starting with pong right through to World of Warcraft, and have never experienced such an emotional attachment to a game. the storyline, characters, and gameplay simply blew my mind. The attention to detail in this story was stifling. Once in a very long while a game comes along that changes the way games are made and played. The Witcher is that game. Thanks to all those involved in making this epic masterpiece!! I can hardly wait for a sequel.

Hey people!! I'm from Poland and finally I'm proud of our game producers. I'm a huge game fan but it's first time when Poles made amazing game that everyone gotta play in it. Gameplay is just fantastic, combat, even graphics from aurora engine which is not so new looks like i t should to look for next gen game. The story of the game is the best I've ever played, I'm playing The Witcher 5th time and it's still not boring!!! I think if not few bugs like sometimes weird dialogs or not to many faces/ bodies and weird acting of characters the game will be 10+/10. And AI could be just a lil bit better ( stilling from the chests in homes and nobody cares, thats funny because when Ive started to play The Witcher I've trayed to hide and still something when nobody see, like in oblivion, but It;s unnecessary. Once again I'm finally proud from Polish Game!!! Hope there will be expanction pack, maybe in even better graphics engine, who knows...

Hi,I am from the Netherlands and I want to congratulate the Team with this fantastic game. I think it is very brave to have included a more mature content. Of course you get the stereotypical comments in some reviews of this aspect of the game only created to attract the adolescent boy who "can't get some" but for me it only shows that some european developers are not afraid to showcase the lighter and darker sides of existence(wow, that was a deep thought). The Witcher is an intelligent game with an epic story and a great main character(man, I wish I was geralt!!) but first and foremost it as simply a lot of fun. Thanks CDProjectRed.

This game was done with heart and infused with souls of its creators, as it can be seen in the great attention to detail, the flying birds and butterflies, the golden sunshine in the morning, the catlike moves of the Witcher, his breathtakingly rendered white hair, the spectacular fighting styles, and everything else done so beautifully in this game.So I love it. I fell in love with it right from the first area in Kaer Morhen, where the old stones of the castle were illuminated by the soft glow of the sunset. The plotline, the hero, the areas, the beasts - they all have taken my breath away.Maybe the Witcher made the better impression by contrast, as I was hugely disappointed by Neverwinter Nights 2, where commercial calculations took over the contents of their product. The result was tasteless. The Witcher has the same engine, long loading times, it crashes from time to time, but it feels like it was done with great love and caring and enthusiasm, and I'm more than ready to forgive these small shortcomings. It feels right.Great work guys! Huge respect ;D

Hello,Many thanks. I wasn't aware this game existed until this week...been buried in the frustrating expirience that is NWN2 multiplayer since MoTB came out. Had about enough and was looking into Call of Duty 4 when I ran across this game. Read a couple of reviews and went out a bought it. Nice part about that "method" I didn't have a lot of expectations.Well done, compared to the NWN2/MotB releases this has been a great release from a technical standpoint. The bugs might cost me some personal time but does not cast a negative pall on the general game expirience. Expecially considering there is a very clear effort to fix the issues caused by the game. I'm using Vista with 1gb and a 256 card, settings by default are all on high...if your hardware meets the specs, more than likely it's your porn cookies and other junk files/programs spattered all over your drive (Browser "deletes" don't get half the stuff). The game uses a ton of resources and it leaks, try cleaning up/defragging your drive a bit it could help a lot. Well worth the cost just for the visuals alone. Been quite some time since I've felt such anxiety about what's around the next corner. So much more rewarding to play a game where success is based on wits and decision making rather than item and armor drops. I've seen it mentioned a few times here...."it feels right". It does. Thank you. More please!!!!

+ point 1 :- Absolutely superb game. ;D + point 2 :- Runs well (Although at lowest settings) on my not so uber XP machine. ::)- point 1 :- Does it have to save EVERY time you enter an area after a plot developement? :(- point 2 :- See -Point 1 :p

Is anyone here older than 15? The so-called 'adult' content is total disaster - only hormone-fueled teenagers may find this naive shit amusing. ::) Voice-acting for Geralt goes hand by hand with his seducing "approach" - pretentious, dull and unbelievably pathetic! Not to mention the tons of identical looking NPC clones all around, retarded dice-players, problematic storage, very limited character development possibilities (for RPG standards), absurd and inadequate political comments ...This should be a fantasy middle-age world, not a 2007 Poland - right? ;D... But wait, there is more:The RPG hero who can't jump, can't swim, can't climb, can't use bows? ??? Thanks, but no thanks. IMO, this game is far from being one of the best RPGs, in fact the best part of the game is music, everything else is in range from absurd to very good (some quests, main storyline, fighting system). Nice try, CDProjeckt. Better luck next time.

Actually, I'm still playing this game (occasionally). Everything I wrote in previous post is based on my own experience. I waited for this game for long time, and now after hours and hours of playing I'm disappointed. So what? The name of this thread is "opinions by gamers" and that was mine. Maybe I'm right and maybe I'm wrong, but I gave some arguments, so don't give me that "smart ass" crap.

You're just wrong. It's obligatory to love the witcher!Oh, I guess you just expected something more "mature", a crossing of Oblivion and Assassins Creed, with a lot of jumping, killing, looting and improving your character, didn't you? This game is more about having fun interacting with the orginal, non-cliche world (yes, the one with politics, casual sex, alcohol, drugs, prostitution, poverty, corruption, jalousy, love, loyalty, ethics, science, free will and many many references to modernity) and following the great story - definetely not everybody's favourite stuff. Sorry if you are disappointed, but not everyone who likes it is under 15, some people just enjoy different things than you.

Yes, interacting with silver or steel sword is more an intellectual approach compared to plain old RPGs like Oblivion or Morrowind or Gothic or... Diablo! :D What's wrong with killing, looting and improving your character? That's what RPG-type game is all about! Witcher is full of killing and looting too, except it's illogical: steal whatever you want in front of NPC's eyes with no consequences at all! Or: give a flower to a girl and have sex with her! I can't imagine nothing more stupid than having a hero with super powers who can't jump over little fence! :eek:You're right: it can be very funny, especially when you hear NPCs babbling about racism(!) in something which was meant to be fantasy RPG (yeah, the medieval was full of anti-racist protesters ;D ). I'm not against so-called 'noir' games, in fact I enjoy them a lot, but this game just failed in creating such world - it's too naive, predictable and full of absurdities. In my opinion this is not a bad game, but it's definitely overrated.

well, the fantasy world and its inhabitants is more a mere vehicle to tell moral tales and show the grey areas of the human world. failing to see that behind the "fantasy" setting (although I would say it's light fantasy in the witcher, no LOTR) is what can give the game a bad aftertaste. it's just not aimed at the "l33t" crowd. if you can't look over some NPC AI limitations (looting in broad daylight) then you won't find fun in any game. so that's not a valid point. name a game, i name you the game-and-immersion breaking flaw. you can't just condemn a game for its engine limitations (fence). I concur with the observations about giving girls flowers. of course that's an exaggeration, not all the women in the game have sex with you if you give them flowers. while the game does offer you 2 nicely done love-stories, the erotic side-"quests" are a little questionable and I would have liked more decisions in accepting or denying them, but all in all, that doesn't kill the atmosphere. And I can't see any overhyping of this game. if you look for hype, look for crysis, ut3, bioshock, halo3 and alike. this game crept up from behind and went up through word of mouth. And I'm glad many people don't like the game. that means that it's special and not mass-market-dumbed down. it has substance which can be talked about besides "lol, new shaders + motionblur".

I've failed to see deep moral message behind the Witcher's story, I must be blinded by the light fantasy creatures like elves, druids, monsters, dwarfs, witcher himself... :D :D :D

Yes I can, because this game has so many limitations - like I wrote in some of my previous posts: "...the tons of identical looking NPC clones all around, retarded dice-players, problematic storage, very limited character development possibilities (for RPG standards), absurd and inadequate political comments ...there is more:The RPG hero who can't jump, can't swim, can't climb, can't use bows..." etc.

No, of course not, sometimes another gift will do the trick.

What can I say? You're an elitist gamer. You simply know what is the best, I must satisfy myself with such mass-market products like Crysis and Bioshock. ;D Now go and play dices in your elite game, maybe you'll feel so special again. ::)

X3me, I get the impression you haven't read any of Sapkowski's literature. Forgive me if I'm wrong. Personally, I've been hunting around for any snippets of Sapkowski's stuff that has an english translation, and as far as I can tell the game world is a pretty good representatin of the world described in the likes of The Last Wish. So yes, there's elves and dwarves and racism and sexism and such, but they're all pretty integral parts of the game world. So if as you say the world is " too naive, predictable and full of absurdities",then that isn't really the fault of CDPR (unless you think they should have sought different inspiration for their game ;D ).And yes the seduction mechanic is slightly obvious, but how many gamers really would want to bother with trying to work out a 10 step romance, complete with candlelit dinner partway through and a nighttime walk by the recently-cleared-of-drowners lake? All for a card? For myself, I'd get lost, get bored, choose the wrong option somewhere along the line and inevitably give up. ;)Perhaps Geralt can actually climb, swim and jump about like a raving lunatic, but doesn't because he's (a) stubbornly independant (b) irritated that he has to obey your every whim or (c) considers that kind of thing to be cheating, when there's clearly a whole load of mindless AI monsters waiting if you take the long way around an obstacle. The day I find a game that has every feature I could possibly want will be the last day I buy a game. But TW makes for a rather fun distraction from that search for the meantime.

Seems like you are either a kid, an long-term relationship oriented or unlucky guy. It happens that you don't even have to give a flower if a girl wants to have a casual sex with you. Geralt is not an anonymous guy, he's a rockstar of his world, so his popularity with woman is quite belivable. Thinking that all women are only wishing for a long stable relationship is very very naive.
You're right: it can be very funny, especially when you hear NPCs babbling about racism(!) in something which was meant to be fantasy RPG (yeah, the medieval was full of anti-racist protesters ;D ).
Do you know the Bible for example? In the Bible Jews were leaving Egipt because they were enslaved. Jews were slaves purely because of their ethnical background and revolted against it. It is racism and racial conflict, over 1000 years before medieval times... FYI - In dark ages there were also pogroms, ghettos, ethnical conflicts and countries safe for ethnical minorities. I guess that victims of pogroms had an idea of what racism is and were quite radical anti-racist protesters. If you dislike the game, that's your right - please just stick to technical faults as they seem to bother you a lot and you made some valid points about them (jumping, fences). 'Your complains about naive and unbelivable gameworld only show that you know very little about the real one. Of course the witcher's world is simplified, but it still is nicely crafted, quite logical and feeling alive. IMHO, feeling much more real than in other games I know.

Anyone who says the Witcher is the best game of the year is wrong....It's the best of this decade. Most games that I complete I do it over a spread out amount of time, but The Witcher was so engaging I actually racked up about 30 hours in a week. That is more than I've ever done in one game before, including online games.
