Specs: i7 9700K, RTX 2080, on a 1TB internal SSD

The game overheated and shut down my PC last night after 30 min of gameplay (not including tutorial). I ran NZXT to monitor, and my CPU ramps up to over 110 deg shortly after launching the game, and my GPU stays around 0% throughout play. Other games like Gwent show expected GPU usage. I've set my RTX as my default for Cyberpunk, but it doesn't appear to be using it. I believe my specs are better than recommended, so it should run well enough. Any ideas why it's severely overclocking my CPU?

And your CPU is clean and the ventilation system works properly?

Ventilation seems good, but I have not cleaned it in a year ish. Definitely something I should do, but it doesn't really explain why the game is barely if at all using the GPU.

I have exactly same issue.
Specs: i9 9900K, RTX 2070 Super.
System works perfectly before cyberpunk is started
Cpu usage goes to 80% while gpu about 20% it doesn't looks right.

You could also experiment with Microsoft's new Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling feature and see if that improves anything (although it hasn't helped much with games lately, but no clue how it is with CP2077).

Did you set the 'Power management mode' in Nvidia control panel to 'Prefer Maximum Performance'?

But even if the GPU isn't used much, shutting down is very unusual (I only had that when my CPU had collected too much dust)

Launched the game at maximum settings without ray tracing, but with DLSS at the Quality level. Aida was launched in parallel. And what do I see after exiting the game: at one point the GPU temperature rose to 114 degrees !!! New video card - MSI RTX2070 Super Gaming X; there were never such problems, it rose to a maximum of 70 degrees - and then such overheating. This game will burn my video card!

I have the exact same issue, literally cannot play the game. I hjave i9-9900k 2080ti and my CPU overheats before i even get to the first quest. I have a huge heatsink and no other game has problems like this.

Very strange, I'd recommend the same as before, @mr_snugglebottom . If nothing helps, reaching out to CDPR support is the best way to go (link above).

I have a i9-9900k, 2080ti, 32gb ddr4 and 1tb SSD. I literally cannot even get to the first quest, my cpu overheats and the game crashes. Is this a known problem and do you think they are going to fix it?

Are you sure your cooler works?

Of course, the coolers work, but at the time of the increase to 114 they did not have time to unwind, and then the temperature dropped, judging by the monitoring.

GPU Maximum Performance Mode is not great, its just a placebo, You cant keep the card running 100% all the time, and indeed many studies show that will last long at 90% not 100%, thats why Optimal Power is the best on the three options will hit up 100% when it requires.

What cooler are you using? I stream and play this game and I use my cpu as encoder because my gpu is a 980 GTX so I cant use NVEC New. My temps stay at 55 C or lower.

Specs: Ryzen 7 3700x Corsair H100i pro with fan setting on Balance (roughly 1000 rpm), 32gb ram, GTX 980 everything on Medium, Case Corsair Crystal

Open Task Manager and then click on the Performance tab. Now, click on CPU, and then on the CPU graph on the right, right-click the graph and select Change Graph To / Logical Processors.

Look at the CPU load while the game is running. Is it completely loading one CPU core, and not others? How is the load spread across your cores?

I ask, becasue maybe your temp/load graph is only showing a single core that is loaded/hot, and not the overall CPU load / temp. Mainly I say that because Thermal Protection on CPUs will often down-throttle or even power off the PC if the CPU runs above 100c.

Checked it all 8 cores used on 65%+ the moment I run the game.
