I must disagree with this stance, for two reasons:

1. Oversexualization of women is a by-product of men having wealth and power. Let's be frank - female is oversexualized because men like such images. Men are very visual-oriented. It'd be wrong to assume that females have same view as male species. They think differently. They find other things more attractive. For them it's not so much about seeing an oversexualized men all over the place. That's very man-like view of things and that's why this is incorrect. So you probably won't see female and male oversexualization in equal proportions.

Well I can't speak for all women however I quite enjoy seeing male nudity on occasion. My favourite part of the movie Brotherhood of the Wolf is seeing Mark Dacascos in a flappy loincloth. Hmmm....those long, lean thighs and those buttcheeks that could probably crack walnuts..*drool*

Thaat...was actually not a bad movie, thighs and all, iirc. Yeah, some cool martial arts action, too, right? I don't recall how sexy it was, but werewolves often are.

Yes it was a decent movie and I was totally focused on the martial arts action. The lean, naked, flexing muscles drew my eyes to properly concentrate on Dacascos's technique.
(In all seriousness I love movies with martial arts in them.)

As far as movies with werewolves go, one of my favourites is Dog Soldiers. The werewolves are not exactly sexy, more violent and gruesome. It also has Sean Pertwee in it and I could happily listen to him recite the phone book.

@kirving

You missed my point. Or I was imprecise. Either way - I was trying to say that oversexualization of men (the way it's handled) is a by-product of culture where things are seen and done from perspective of men (and I say this as a man). Marketing tries to apply to women what it applies to men, while reality is much more complicated than that. Cultural differences can serve as good analogy. Think about gestures - what's consider positive in one country can be insulting in another (Valve had to change cover of the Left 4 Dead box for United Kingdom just to avoid exactly this kind of a situation). When most people don't find eating cattle a big deal in India it's important part of their culture (to the point it's regulated by law). And so on, and so forth.

Hah. That's not actually too far from the truth. (But you will find no shame here, buster!!!!)

And as per tradition, the swearwords of the foreign language and their use were learned almost to a tee while the rest was.... well, as the subtitles said. :p

Heh. Glad you seem to have found it humorous. :) Robert Gustavsson has always been very good att immitating the sound of languages/dialects/etc even if he does not actually know any particular words and just use gibberish. XD

And indeed... even I have always known of "Saatana" and "Perkele" when it comes to Finnish. I think that's partly because occationally over the decades we do get a few Finnish, or Finnish-Swedish, people who in some way or another have been part of Swedish TV, often in a comedic way. And of course I remember watching "Mumintrollen" as a kid, where the voice/voices in it had a distinctly Finnish/Finnish-Swedish sounding dialect... although... I do not think there where any real swearing in that. :)

I'm so fed up of this politically correct BS, let them tell and design the story they want. Politically correctness is an enemy of freedom

OK, in the name of censorship etc., I've moved the rest of this conversation across to a new thread in Off-Topic, because it was.
It's here, if you want to continue the discussion, but I suggest you read the post I'm about to make to it first.

(I haven't read much in this thread)

On the topic of oversexualization, I only want to see it where it is needed, if there is a female or male character who has those traits and that kind of personality, then yes! Otherwise no.

Make it appear the way it would in a Cyberpunk universe too, very dark, kinda creepy, technical etc etc. Don't just show breasts, have a small generator sticking into her heart, give her tattoos, replace some limbs (arms) with robotic parts.

Why is it people bitching about "Political Correctness" almost universally seem to be bitching that they can no longer act like douchebags without being called on their bullshit? IE - "What do you mean I can't call the mentally handicapped "retards" anymore, damn politically correct liberals, always taking the fun out of things....?"

I had to read this twice before I understood you weren't slamming the handicapped - I must be tired.

I think it's an Internet Freedoms thing. Most of the negative feedback I encounter is Net-based, since the Real World is aghast when you try to defend your right to be nasty. Generally.

On the flip side, the Real World also gets very excited over Sex, whereas the Net is generally pretty blase.

Must be some kind of balance somewhere...
