Pacific Rim

Anyone else excited about this? It is directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Also yes, that is Ellen McLain, aka GlaDos.

It looks like a cheesy, but really fun. :D

I've seen this trailer couple of times and it just feels to me highly derivative. I'm gonna check it out sure, but it's not on my radar at all.

Oh and the glados voice, they said it's a nod to portal but the actual voice in the movie will be different.

I'm stoked as hell. Never been a fan of mechs in anime, but when I saw this...fuck yeah.

I'm excited - it's Del Toro. He screws up so rarely.

The subject matter doesn't interest me much, but the trailer and the director have me...moistened.

I dunno. The trailer doesn't impress me, but it has GlaDOS and Idris Elba so I think I'm obligated to see it.

I think Del Toro is just smart enough not to put all the cool bits in the trailer. :O

Hahaha... God no..
I feel I'd rather watch the horrible live action Gundam G Saviour than to watch this.
And that's saying a lot. Not even that wannabe-rocket punch makes this movie look anymore interesting.

I might see it, but probably not.

Surprised there's no buzz on the forum for this movie. My body is fucking ready.

Looking forward to it, but...I dunno. "We are CANCELLING the apocalypse!" Yeah. Sorry, Idris, it just sounds stupid.

So mostly a spectacle flick. Which is fine, but not my favourite.

Del Torro has the ability to make it more than a spectacle since he's drawing from traditional Japanese influences of the kaiju and mecha genres. In fact, they've barely done any mainstream marketing, instead opting to appeal to the crowd who has the most knowledge on this stuff, ie: anime, comic books, video game nerds etc. That isn't to say Del Torro hasn't made a few duds, but better him than Micheal Bay. The visuals in his movies are stellar.

Besides, Kanye West cant be wrong:

I'm still curious as to why (it seems) two pilots are required per mecha.

Still gonna see it, though. =)
