early 2016 - blood and wine

Anything to increase character depth/ interaction, especially post-ending.
Is it just me, or do none of the relationships you form go quite as deep as in previous games?
In Witcher 1 I loved the relationship you could build with Shani and the Journey you share with Zoltan and Dandelion.
In Witcher 2 I liked the relationship with Triss, and i loved the commaraderie and the frendships you can build with either Roche or Iorveth.
In Witcher 3 nothing was quite so deep and satisfying. Perhaps they missed a trick with Eskel, who gets very litle air time.

I suspect the Open World Nature of Wild Hunt Compromised the depth CDPR were able to give to charcacter interactions and the building of relationships.

absolutely! a new open world rpg with geralt

I want new open World RPG with my own Witcher and Geralt is more of a secondary character. His main part is done and he should be able to retire in peace. Have him living in Kaer Morhen with Yennifer and work to make repairs on it and maybe go on a main quest or two with you but I want MY Witcher to be the star of the next huge installment.

Any DLC that would add value to the epilogue or post epilogue is welcomed. No offense, as much as I love CDPR and TW3... if you were to be critical of their work, you'l realize how much TW3 immersion falls short in terms of proper closure/ending. Act 3 onwards was a disaster. It felt like everything was rushed; even worst than a cliffhanger

Thats why I always say that TW3 is a great standalone game but a terrible final chapter and sequel

Yup. Terrible way to end Geralt's sega with that weak epilogue. Why do I label it weak? Epilogue is supposed to be a 'swan song' for a story. In TW3 however, Epilogue creates MORE QUESTIONS THAN answers.

We didn't even have the answer to what happened during the period between the ending and the epilogue (epilogue only takes place weeks after the ending)... not to mention, the mystery surrounding our romance + the empty world.

I can go on and on but... we are all tired of writing the same thing over and over again.

I really think/hope that they do something with Kovir and Triss! They already have lots of lore and hints in the game about this country.

Won't be a 3rd expansion, both expansion for all intents and purposes are already complete, all art and voice assets are there as well as the entire story line.

CDPR just capitalized on the fact that selling expansion passes is quite lucrative it basically allows you to sell the game at about 150% of its regular price.

Put 1 expansion 3-4 months down the line so people will want to buy the season pass, release it around the end of the summer to push some sales on people who were away on their summer breaks (basically back to school sale:), the fact that this is additional content will also help to push the sale of the game around the holidays for anyone who hasn't picked it up until then.

The release of the 2nd expansion will come in tandem with a major price drop (i would say 40-50%) probably around Feb-March next year, so you'll see a 30-40$ W3 and a 50-60$ edition with both expansions.

This content release was meticulously planned to maximize revenue, CDPR is now playing in the big league so dont expect them not to use the same tactics as everyone else, and there's nothing wrong about it as long as the content is good.

I personally don't expect a 3rd expansion, the 2nd will come almost a year after the game release a 3rd one just doesn't makes any sense.

I also have issues of calling them an expansion, it's a story based DLC, an expansion actually has to expand the game in a meaningful way but alas the days of beyond the dark portal level expansions have passed.

I also don't expect Witcher 4 to be released anywhere in the next 5-6 years, if ever, the might capitalize on the universe a bit more with offshoot games like they've been doing so far but it seems all of those projects were more learning projects from CDPR than actual releases that would stand on their own.

CDPR ins't that big of a studio, it also has to support GOG, and Cyberpunk 2077, they've been doing nothing but Witcher games since their inception and they need a change no one wants to work on the same shit over and over and they've been doing just tat for a decade.

Sometimes. And even if they do, it can take a very long time to arrive. TW2 for Linux took around 3 years for example.

On my end, I think that we the gamers should try to avoid "entitlement" when we're thinking about the games. I think we should be patient with CDPR and we should also work with them rather than against them. I'm cool with the fact they may have many developers who are tired of the Witcher but I would ENCOURAGE them to continue the franchise while pursuing the Cyberpunk franchise. I would encourage them to hire more staff, rotate people out, and also make use of the existing franchise material.

I would never, normally, advise ANYONE to follow in the footsteps of Ubisoft but I do think they have a very good business-model for themselves. The Assassin Creed's games have kind of driven themselves down a bit but they're good popcorn games in the fact that they reuse the resources they've created to give gamers what they want when they want it.

There's nothing wrong with the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as is, other than it's a bit underdeveloped in some places. It's a Turkey which has few undercooked spots but is still big and delicious. I hope the Expansions will definitely add more material to them. However, I think they should also consider possibly reusing the sources for separate games purchasable as well.

Far Cry: Blood Dragon was a game you could download separately from Far Cry 3 and was a big money maker because it was fun and enjoyable. Gat out of Hell was half-assed but people still bought it whether they played Saint's Row IV or not. On my end, I think it'd be interesting if instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, they might consider doing a smaller world than another huge open-world experience like the Witcher 4.

Something more like the Witcher 2: Assasins of Kings using the same resources. Ciri as a protagonist, Geralt as a protagonsit, or smaller games in general which could keep the franchise alive while they decide if they want to do something equally huge. Ciri in Cintra or Geralt in Kovir would be perfectly enjoyable to me as smaller games using the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's engine and resources.

And you wouldn't, necessarilly, need the Wild Hunt to get them. They'd be regular priced games to justify the expense but compared to so much out there, I think that would be worth it.

Short version: I'm up for a third expansion after "Blood and Wine" but if we're going to do something after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, why not just make a smaller pair of games starring Geralt in Kovir and Ciri in Cintra/Nilfgaard. I'd pay full price and it wouldn't be ridiculously labor intensive if they used WH's assets. No one really needs the next game to be the BIGGEST GAME EVERTM like they did.

Not really the same thing.

I just kinda feel like sending Geralt to retirement is a bit premature. Yes he had wonderful 8 books and 3 games, but dammit he is still only around 100 years old. So young for the witcher. There are so many more adventures he could go on :) , same with Yennefer, Ciri etc.

Some posts just got deleted.

Incidentally, saying that CDPR wants to make money isn't insulting.
Describing other posters using terms such as "teen angst" and "twat" is.

I definitely want more content and I would not mind it was a linnear adventure where we visit new areas, Witcher 2 style. It doesn't have to be open world.

I would love more adult content. Like the first 2 games. Lots of politics and less watered down pg stuff.

I really hope there are more DLC or, preferably, expansions to come out after the two announced ones. I imagine the two that will come out will greatly add to the story, and adding a new area will always be fun, but in the end I'd really like a DLC that would make the end game more complete. As I felt that after the way the whole story progressed, the end game and epilogue, just felt very vague to me, and kind of left me lost and in the dark as to the futures of the characters. I mean no offense to CDPR when I write this, as I probably feel that way because the rest of the story was so great. But the end felt a little cut off to me, and I felt the story deserved a little more explanation and content to put a better close to it. Throughout the story, talking to Triss/Yen(whoever you chose, if you did choose) about their plans for after their mission was over, the rest of the Witchers from Kaer Morhen (Keira[if she is around]/Lambert), and the others (Zoltan, Dandelion) and obviously, Ciri. A DLC/expansion just putting more emphasis on to their lives after the White Frost, or at least including them in the world after the game is done.

When I frst finished the game, I felt lost and disheartened at the empty world devoid of any of the main characters. Even if it's not a full DLC, just little additions for continuing contact with the characters, Zoltan/Dandelion at the Chameleon, Triss at a house in Kovir, Yen at a house where she chose, and CIri out on her path, whichever she ended up on. Even if they are not full blown storyline additions, something to remain in touch with those you've shared the adventure with. Alsdo I would not complain if they did add more romance with whoever you chose in game, not asking necessarily for more full blown sex scenes (although would like that), just more time with the one you chose to add a little more depth to their relationship.

This would be my greatest hope for any future DLC or Expansion to the game, if it will happen only time will tell but, I would GLADLY pay extra for something that added this to the end of their story.
