I always think it's going to go into a 'Barbara Ann' rendition.

Namely an odd version by The Who with Keith Moon singing I used to watch.

Then I thought it was a homage to the great 'Little drummer Boy' by David and Bing :)

I wish it was...

But I think I'm wrong on both counts :(

Right, at first, it is like he is being called Poopy or something. But I have read the fan translations so I am used to it, and it goes right by me now, and Dudu is a euphemism that is hardly used so it is easy to look over. Dandelion is a Sapkowski invention too right?

People complain a lot about a great game/developers and great writer I think.

Because in a mature world bad humor just doesn't exist!

I like the jingle and it make sense. If you have to stand at the same spot for hours each day, you would try to come up with stupid stuff as well.

Dandelion is his (unfortunate?) nick. His real full name is somewhere in the game, I've seen it more than once.

But to me he will always be 'Jaskier', I think it is a bad idea to translate nicknames, besides in spanish books he is Jaskier, I guess the translator didn't know until book 6 that was a nickname and it was too late to change it ;) Book 6 & 7 took long to get out.

In czech Dandelion is called Marigold and Triss Merigold is called Triss Ranuncul (that names have no meaning in czech), so it was quite mess for me, when I switched from czech to english for a first time :)

I don't think his nickname is unfortunate, actually i like the english Dandelion more than the German Rittersporn. But what's really interesting is that all the nicks Dandelion, Rittersporn, Jaskier come from the same Family: Ranunculaceae. ;). Btw, his real name is Julian Alfred Pankratz Viscount de Lettenhove, which would made him a Belgian. Regardless the fact that the original de Lettenhoves were only Barons and not Vicomtes. ;)

In YOUR perfect world, no bad humor will exist.

Now, please explain to me that while some people like some humor, other's don't like it? Because we all appriciate different types of humor, I actually found it very well done in The Witcher. But that might be your cup of tea humor.

Saying 'mature' is a wrong name, because I know lot's of adults that like 'poop' type humor, but still are very mature.

So basicly, your perfect world of humor doesn't exist

It's not terrible, but it's true, the English "Dandelion" doesn't have the same connotations as the Polish "Jaskier."

Not that any name based on a flower is going to make you seem like a tough guy, but in Polish "Jaskier" doesn't IMO sound as soft and weak as "Dandelion" does in English.

The woman spiting the jingle and the fart bwahohoho, kinda reminds me the arrow to the knee thing, not as annoying thankfully.

Idk where its from but its by far my favorite sound byte. First time I heard it I bust out laughing for a few minutes, every time after that I join in singing. But like someone else said, the random snort and spit is highly annoying. How dare you spit at a Witcher?!?!

Do you realize that "Dudu" is actually the character's name in the books as well and not a CDPR invention?

P.S. My favorite random banter on the road so far is probably the one from beggars pleading "Please, help me! I'm dying... of poverty".

I'm a native English speaker. I've never read the books, never seen the show or movie, and haven't played TW1 or TW2. Regardless, I never considered that the name Dudu was supposed to be a joke. Actually, until I read this thread, I never knew that some people thought it was a joke (it's not, obviously). Trollolo, on the other hand...

For me as a non native english speaker Dandelion sounds not near as weak and phony as his german Name Rittersporn. Tbh, i like the name Dandelion, for me it sounds a bit Shakespearish. ;)

But the fact that Dandelion is a bard who is often avoiding trouble and not really a fighter, I always felt like the name fit him well. He talks a big game but rarely backs it up it seems, but when Geralt needs someone to really count on Dandelion is always there too. He is a complicated sidekick. The name works for me.
