Patch 1.06 Performance issues

My game was ok no issues what so ever until patch 1.06, behavior and issues started to show. its so heartbreaking, when you almost near the end of the game and these issues started. This big "hotfix" somehow screwed up the game on my pc. Hope the next patch fixes this. Hope anyone who experienced this issue share how they addressed addressed the issue.

-texture pop in
-character pop in
-NPC animation; anomalities.
-lower FPS; sudden drop of fps.
-general smoothness of the game is different.

Troubleshooting i made but made no difference.
-reinstalled game
-updated drivers
-cleared machine cache.

My build:
i74790k
16GB Corsair dominator
EVga titanx

Is not your PC problem, i have a decent computer but below your specs with recently reinstalled windows is still causing the same issue as before reinstall windows. Even lowering all details to Low preset except ultra texture still giving the same issues as you described.

Hi,
I would also like to report these issues that 1.06 brought:

- I have measured a drop in my average framerate in (almost) very high from 60fps to 53fps in outdoor areas.
- I can also report the object popping issue, which is very annoying.

Haven't seen much more because as soon as I witnessed the fps drop, I got REALLY pissed and went ahead and grabed a PIRATED gog installer so I could revert manually to 1.05 (I own the Steam version of the game, which force installs CDProjeckt terrible attempts at patching their game).

its just funny that the changelog would show minimal changes but the size of the hotfix was around 400mb++ if im not mistaken. I know CDPR is doing some graphics optimizations for witcher 3 for PC and consoles versions. but why would a perfectly running game(1.05), would be so degraded graphically after a massive update, when the declared change is more on gameplay glitches? is the optimization settings included in the 1.06 patch the same through out all platforms? I hope the team should be more transparent with consumers.

updated it yesterday and looked at the files.

witcher3.exe
user.settings
rendering.ini (both files in both directories)
and all other ini files

have not been changed.

so graphics settings are the same, and even the executable.

i could only find changes in some game related files like quests or graphics or stuff.

I'm noticing that many CTD problem came with intel and Nvidia hardware, but maybe there are many user that doesn't write their experience here with AMD hardware.

I've only AMD hardware and I hadn't never experienced CTD until I forced the rebuilding of the user.settings (reverting then back with a previously backup made). It's also true that I disable the Hairworks from proprieties, I'll try to enable to see if that can cause this kind of trouble.

But can somebody that has constantly CTD write down the list of hardware and relative driver version installed please?

tried all the workaround post on other forums. All same issue.
-lowering settings, restarting machine
-letting GFE optimize
i dont know whats wrong with this shit, nothing seems to help.
Solution:
wait for 1.07, cross fingers and it fixes issues.

i've just played with the 1.06 patch for the first time and ive noticed the game feels incredibly unsmooth and jerky... even though i can see my fps is 60+, it still feels jerky like im playing at 30-40 fps...

really annoying since i found 1.05 to actually give me a smooth experience... so much to the point where i even enabled the hairworks stuff, and it STILL felt perfectly playable even when it dipped to high 40s during heavy scenes with lots of NPCs...

I began to notice loses with performance and more graphical texture issues like poor draw rate with the later patches...
I played the game for quite a long time on 1.05 and updated to 1.06 hoping these issues would be improved..

1.06 did not improve these issues.. and when I looked at the overall look of the game with patch 1.05 & 1.06...
I just thought.. I'm sure the game not only played better than this, but looked better as well on an earlier patch.

Yesterday I. re-installed back to patch 1.03 and started the game again
Performance is better, the game runs far smoother and the draw rate is improved... not only that but I'm sure the overall look of the game is better because there seems to be improved particle effects like dust when your walking through the world.

I'm staying with patch 1.03.. I'm not going to update to another version.
I love the game, but the patches seem to have created more issues than they have solutions.

No crashes for me with 1.06, but I am getting horrible stuttering with Frame Limit set to Unlimited. Locking frames to 60 with in-game vsync ON made it smooth again. It will still stutter like nuts in random areas, but an exit/restart clears that up. So...the optimizations introduced in each patch are a double edged sword it seems.

P.S. -- I am loooving the animation bug with people carrying boxes! That is hilarious. They need to make it an option whether to patch that out or not with future updates.

Oh! Is that what it is? But I still think it's playing backwards, in addition to the wrong animation. Like they're carrying it down HUGE stairs in reverse or something.

Whatever, the first time I saw it, I immediately heard Monty Python playing in my head:

"Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Cam-e-lot!
He was not afraid to die,
Oh! brave Sir Robin...!"

When patching a game due to crashes it's normal that the developers change the way the game engine uses the graphic cards features and technology. If you had high performance and FPS before a patch and now don't it's probably because the patch is redirecting some data in another way. I know this is logic, but still there should be no wonder. It's hard to satisfy every single type and configuration on the PC market.

^^so the game engine is not that adaptive? I really think, the previous patches wasn't just thoroughly tested. I have faith in CDPR, 1.07 is shaping up to be the ultimate fix according to reports. cross fingers. :)
