Patch 1.07 and Cutscene Voices
A while back, sometime last month, I had a glitch where voice sounds cut out in the middle of a cutscene near the Baron's place. From then on the intro movie wouldn't have vocal audio, loading scenes, and all conversations would be missing voice audio. You could sort of hear an echo depending on location but that was obviously limited. I searched the internet for a solution and found a single comment about deleting extra saves. I had about 40 at the time that I deleted (after making back ups outside of the game) and it worked! My sound miraculously returned and my game even loaded slightly faster (always on an SSD).
Well, now after updating today, following 2 weeks waiting for a new patch to fix the movement among a couple of other things, my sound cut out in Novigrad (same region as before). I didn't have many saves but I cleared them out just the same. It didn't work. The only thing that works is changing my sound to Stereo instead of 5.1. I'm running HDMI audio from my PC to my receiver to my 50 in plasma. This is the only game with issues. I reinstalled directx, updated windows, reinstalled audio drivers, installed the newest nvidia drivers from my 980 on Windows 8.1 64-bit with a Soundblaster Z audio card, deleted weight mod, started a new game, and overwrote my dll files in system32 per the compendium thread. Nothing has worked. Currently reinstalling the entire game. I moved my saves and had it clear everything and will report back. Guess I should've spent the last 2 weeks I waited for the patch finishing the game in 5.1.
Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions? I'm on the final couple chapters of the game and really don't want to run it in Stereo only if I can help it.
TLDR: Had voices cut out of cutscenes/intro videos back in 1.02 or 1.03 and fixed it by clearing out old saves and creating a fresh one. This has now happened again and nothing is working.
EDIT: Appreciate the help. My problem was solved by uninstalling, clearing all data, and reinstalling. Used a 1.07 save and it worked. No idea what happened. No mods or anything to interfere.
