Patch 1.07 - Key Configuration Error

Patch 1.07 - Key Configuration Error

I am on pc using KB + Mouse. I am playing with arrow keys using same key layout which I was used in Patch 1.06 but now I have issues with my layout as they are not working as previous.

I am using Right Shift for Sprint / Gallop / Canter & Num 0 for jump as well I am using Insert key for Inventory window which is Num 0 function if Num Lock is off so now with 1.07 patch if I try to jump while sprint by holding right shift then Num 0 is not working for jump rather its opening Inventory window by using Ins function. Its working fine if I don't press the shift.

This is not happening in previous patch as these are my default key configuration from day 1.

Yes & this problem is with only Insert key I think as other Num keys seems working fine even when holding shift.
---------------------------------------------

So in simple....

RShift = Sprint / Gallop / Canter
Insert [ button before home ] = Inventory window
Num 0 Ins = Jump

So while sprint using RShift if I try to jump pressing Num 0 its opening Inventory window which is bind to Insert button.

Do you use the Numpad0 to jump normally, or did you map it specifically for horse jump?

I use the arrow keys and RShift for sprint as well.

confirmed. also affects mousewheel (alt+ctrl also affect wheel but not num0).

whenever i press numlock, geralt draws steel sword as well.

and switches display to gamepad controls in ui.

scroll lock, same thing, but silver sword. yay hidden bindings!

----

just some ideas for you tho:

sprint/modify attack: mouse thumb backward.

use/activate/mount/dismount/etc...: mouse thumb forward (also, bind spawnhorse/stop to it, with a 0.3 second hold delay)

IK_Mouse5=(Action=SpawnHorse,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.3)
IK_Pad_RightThumb=(Action=SpawnHorse,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.3)
IK_Mouse5=(Action=Stop,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.3)
IK_Pad_RightThumb=(Action=Stop,State=Duration,IdleTime=0.3)

side-effect is when using places of power, you also call roach, it looks funny too ;p

also, you will get off horse before stopping most likely. i wish idletime worked differently but oh well...

you can make 'dismount' idle, and set 'stop' to standard to fix that tho. im just lazy.

what are you talking about buddy ? I think there is only one jump action for both witcher & horse so how could its possible for me to separate it ?

Yes I am using Num 0 for jump & its working properly if I am not sprinting by holding shift but if I press RShift for sprint & try to jump then game is opening Inventory window which I bind on Insert key [ key b4 Home key ].

My key configuration is...

Arrow keys = Movement, RCtrl = Quick Item Use. RShift = Sprint / Gallop / Canter
Delete = Draw Steel Sword, End = Quick Item Window, Pg Down = Draw Silver Sword, Insert = Inventory Window, Home = Character Window, Pg Up = Quest Qindow
Num 0 = Jump / Surface, Num 1 = Interact / Dismount, Num 2 / 3 = Potion Slot, Num 4 to 8 = All Signs, Num 9 = Menu Num + = Lock Target, Num Period = Dive

All other Num keys are working find while holding RShift but only Num 0 goes into Insert function.

I am using Mouse 4 for Roll / Dodge & Mouse 5 for Modify Attack so Its possible for me to change Mouse 5 key but I really needed Roll / Dodge on Mouse 4 or 5 as I need to this action on Mouse only.

Hmm.. That is odd that holding RShift causes the numpad to revert but only for that 1 button out of all them. Even more strange that something in 1.07 caused the behavior. Did they "fix" anything with key binding in the update? I think I saw somebody mention that unlocking the menu commands for J, B, I, etc now work correctly and that whatever you substitute now correctly closes the appropriate menu as well.

If so, I still can't imagine why the RShift would all of a sudden have a hold delay effect on Numpad0. I would definitely email CDPR with that issue.

I do like your setup. Very similar to mine in that you focus all the functions you need around the arrow keys, all within a few inches reach. It has always seemed much more comfortable to me than WASD because of the free area above the arrow keys. More room for fat fingers, lol.

The one thing I'd suggest (and I realize key maps are a totally personal thing), is how you handle the 2 functions you listed for your Mouse 4 and 5:

- Why are you using a valuable mouse button for Dodge when you can just double tap the arrow keys to dodge?

- And the same with Modify attack - why force yourself to hold down 2 buttons when you can assign Fast Attack and Strong Attack each to its own button (for example, I have fast on LMB and strong on scroll wheel button).

Let us know what they say about the RShift issue.

i put jump/roll on MMB. silver sword mousewheel down, steel wheel up (using autohotkey script). dodge on ctrl by itself. dive/sheathe on shift (but i cant remove the sheathe from mousewheel, its hard-bound to draw steel/silver and is annoying too)... cast sign on num0.

maybe that's why i don't notice it, bcs i never have to dodge/dive/sheathe and cast sign at the same time.

oh btw, you know modified attack is bugged, right ;p http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/48187-PC-modified-attack-is-bugged-by-default?p=1771308#post1771308

yea... i don't play much right now due to these bugs :\ i'd have to make 2 attack binds, and ain't nobody got time fo dat!

Maybe it's because it has the side-to-side motion and is a bit 'looser' but I had to disable my mouse wheel selecting signs because sometimes when I press it as a button I'd accidentally switch signs.

I prefer to use Numpad 7,8,9,6,3 to select a sign and mouse 5 to cast. And anyway, I only ever use Yrden.

yehh actually I am too not playing just doing tp in white orchard. I am using mouse wheel for cast sign & about MMB I am really not friendly with that key :( as most of the times I am end up with scroll & then press so I am just avoiding MMB :)

My controls are actually working fine till 1.06 but 1.07 ruined everything hehehe. I hope they going to fix it in patch 1.08 asap :)

more dodge bugs (not related to ctrl key, tried binding it to 7 key, same deal).

doesn't seem to affect combat, but can be an underlying issue for other bugs :\ key detection is just. ugh.

A. wait for geralt to become inactive/out of combat. stand still and hold the dodge key (no release). press attack. geralt dodges at the end of the attack.

B. or run forwards (even when in combat stance, but not in actual combat), hold the dodge key (dodge is not performed while running), stop running, continue to hold dodge. press attack. same thing occurs.

first occurs bcs throwing the punch puts you in combat stance, upon which the dodge is detected, otherwise you can't dodge out of combat.

also, the dodge animation when running in combat is really awkward, it looks like geralt just broke his leg.

probably since no dodge in [exploration] ini section. consolification error.

I really wish to see more improvement in Kay config. for PC as its a very important part of any game play from easy to hardest walk through. May be easy or normal walk through not require good key config. but to play on hardest difficulty easy to reach & proper key config. is must IMO.

As new game + is coming via last dlc I really wish that CDPR should add Mouse scroll wheel up as well as down function too & please make it Num Enter & Enter key function separately.

And try to solve the key issue which mention in 1st post be me as well as in further posts by other users.
