Well that's another month to wait to see if this game will ever have functioning AI

AI development is a non trivial task, requires specialized knowledge and in the context of CP2077 would involve a major overhaul of not just traffic and npc behaviour but also ancillary game systems that rely on the existing behaviour to function. For example how its going to interact with missions that have chase sequences that rely on cars spawning in precise times and locations outside the player's line of sight.

This is a long term thing, so don't hold your breath.

All of the above is true. But incremental improvements can be made that would take less time, and then a sweeping AI overhaul could happen later.

Right but this requires serious planning, development resources and time.

I am reminded of Warframe where the devs overhauled their graphics rendering pipeline. This required specialist knowledge that the studio already had in house and they phased it in gradually over the course of a year. There were several major content updates in that period where you had new materials working with old lighting and stuff like that so the game actually looked worse. It was only once they had the materials, the lighting tech and the deferred renderer in place that the game started to look better than it did when the process began. Now it looks better than it ever has before but you need to have a realistic idea of how long this can take.

I wouldn't expect tangible improvements on a time scale anything less than a year and thats assuming they go on a hiring spree to get the talent to build something the studio has never built before. There is also the realistic possibility that this never happens. Either way, don't hold your breath.

I didn't expand the post you were quoting and thus couldn't see the last sentence. That's on me.

TL;DR

Anyway I'm diverging since my answer to you was more about how calling their wants and needs petty isn't the right way of going about that situation.
well then lets keep it simple right now and call it that we agree overall, and disagree regarding certain specifics (either in words or interpretation)
As you stated anyway, its pointless to squabble about who understands what.

To get back to the topic at hand.
I have no rush for any patch to arrive at point X and contain Y. I do have wishes and desires, but I shall wait and see when it drops and what it'll do for us. and in the mean time we just wait. And its up to anyone themselves if they shelf the game until then or keep having fun with whatever shenanigans theyé up to :)

What you're kind of forgetting is that the AI development should have been already done, and now they just need to update it. It should only be non trivial if they almost completely have to rewrite it from scratch, which considering how bad it is, is also likely.

Still, technically, if the game was launched and it's just an AI bug, then it shouldn't take longer then a few months to fix.

Its not AI to start with, its just glorified fuzzy logic. TRUE AI can learn on its own so if a game had true AI it would become unbeatable

Keep it going!
Seening people actually being supportive here gave me a relief after all that burning trash in twitter. It hurts how hateful people can be.
I would imagine all the negative comments have been removed by mods, im not happy with this recent update and I am disappointed. Yet again I feel cheated and have now put the game down until a considerable improvement in updates and or communication from CDPR . I don't see how they can justify this i see it as failed attempt to buy more time.

Phew, keeping the moderators busy if nothing else.
I'll temper my expectations when they deliver the game they led me to believe I was paying for. Not before.
Setting yourself up for dissapointment there bud.
Cut your losses, forget about the game and move on. Maybe you will have the game in a few years, and be pleasantly surprised. There are plenty of other great games to waste time in.

It would have been glorious!

I said it a bit earlier in the thread, but they haven't removed all the negative posts, they didn't have to. They closed the threads the devs don't want public, but left the rest alone.

What happened is all the people that would have posted negative posts through up their hands with CDPR and moved on to greener, better developed, and better released games leaving this forum for the CDPR white-hats and loyalists, to whom this game is GOTY material and CDPR can do no wrong. It became an echo chamber.

Then they delayed the patch pretty much at the last minute, and drew back some of us who want the game to succeed but just can't stand the way that CDPR management has made a debacle of everything associated with the game.

Well said sir .. agreed

1. Please don't tell people what to say or what not to say - it's rude. If you'd like me to clarify what I meant, ask. Please don't demand another poster behave in a certain way.

2. Companies, across the world, are being hacked every day. To varying degrees of success. https://cybersecurityventures.com/hackerpocalypse-cybercrime-report-2016/

"In 2019, the number of data breaches in the United States amounted to 1,473 with over 164.68 million sensitive records exposed. In the first half of 2020, there were 540 reported data breaches."

I have no idea what company you work for. Or if they've ever been successfully hacked. Suggesting it's not a steady, world-wide, constant very expensive problem is unrealistic. Law enforcement, commercial crime, cybercrime, insurance agencies and simple, easily-searched statistics disagree with you in multiple cases. That's why 2FA is more and more common; that's why such strenuous measures are taken to protect your data.

Being hacked is hardly "normal" but it is also a steady and increasing occurrence in the modern global climate.

Not sure what you're suggesting - that CDPR is a special case? That it is deserved? That they are to blame? That because your company, clients and/or you yourself haven't been subjected to this kind of thing, it's not an ongoing, global issue? You aren't clear on what you are saying, other than to tell me I can't say that companies are hacked every day and it is a steadily increasing issue.
Personally, I think it is time to show understanding towards CDPR, even though it is frustrating to see how the state of the game was at launch, especially on last-gen consoles, which had real consequences on gamers.

On one hand, it's true that mistakes were made. On the other hand, it is also important to acknowledge the steps that CDPR took and are taking to fix the situation. Furthermore, it's not like they wanted to be hacked and postpone the release of the patch #1,2.

It is unfortunate a delay comes our way, but have you even considered what damage the hack did, and still does?

People talk about justification and hint on that CDPR owes people something. What exactly justifies these comments i wonder? 60 bucks got you the game, and then what did people do? They waited.

Does clicking a paybutton and then wait justify talking down to the people that now have their entire career stolen and sold?
You can be disappointed for sure, but why do people need to add a rusty screwdriver in the ribs as well?

While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this unfortunately will not happen — we’ll need some additional time.

Our goal for Patch 1.2 goes beyond any of our previous updates. We’ve been working on numerous overall quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get. With that in mind, we’re now aiming for release in the second half of March.

It’s not the news we enjoy sharing, but we want to make sure we launch this update properly. Stay tuned for more information as the time draws closer. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Would it be humanly possible, to get another HotFix in the meantime. Just progression based, so that its at the very least playable. And then you take your time with the 1.2 Big Bandade Patch, so that it has time to be properly done.

I don't believe this is the first time that CDPR has not fulfilled something that has been said or offered before, but that's my opinion and point in case.

I put the game on hold just so I can see what new features the February patch would bring back to the game. This patch was supposed to put CDPR on a redeeming road but they still managed to mess it up. Not only that but they state that the delayed patch will only deliver bug fixes. I'm really done, this is a joke. They are only working to bring back the game on the PS store to get some more money they couldn't care less about all the missing features that was promised to us.

Will the Sony store even allow it at this point ? .. just a question

It goes both ways. As a paying consumer, people have a right to complain. If you enjoy the game, why do peoples JUSTIFIED (the game is broken in many respects and on many platforms; its not even arguable at this point) comments affect your enjoyment? Again, it goes both ways... if people want to be positive and take whatever CDPR gives them with a smile, it shouldn't bother the negative people either.
