Patch 1.4 ideas and suggestions for CDProjekt

I wanted to make a thread that we could all discuss about minor improvements that maybe CDPROJEKT could consider in their future patches that would make this game even greater then it already is.

For example, my suggestions;

The saving system needs to be changed

- There needs to be different profiles for you to save your game so things can be organized when you load, so you wont have to scroll through so much especially if you have multiple games or if someone else is playing the Witcher on your computer. Just like how Bioware does it.

More organization for the menus

- Its not a big deal but it sometimes gets a little annoying when you have to scroll through all your diagrams when crafting or making potions.

- The way The Enhanced Version of the first Witcher was great way of organizing everything.

Better targeting system

-When locking on an enemy(Alt)is great but when fighting multiple enemies things get a little messy. A more smoother transition to changing targets when moving the mouse on a different target would be "fucking poetry".

I hope you guys come up with more ideas and suggestions and hopefully with enough of them they will listen and make this great game downright more EPIC!!!!!

Get the crosshair mod from here:
http://www.witchernexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=132
It should be just available in the options menu, that would save a lot of grief on "random" target switching during combat.

That thing with select signs without clicking and the target smoother transition between targets will be very nice to implement.
I will say to improve the characters and some objects that aren't rendered when the player switches the mouse and then switches quick back on, the player needs to wait a half of a second for (example: a wood structure to render, or some ncp)

yehhh The saving system needs to be changed. 100% agreed.

At the time of save we want to give name for save game like .....Before Choosing path, King Dead or King Alive, Dragon Dead Or Dragon Alive.

So we can understand which save we want to load & what choices we made in that save.

Well the Patch 1.3 screwed up the interface pretty badly. Now I get disappearing buttons, not working keyboard keys, escape quits into game instead of going up one level and so on. So there is that for Patch 1.4

Then the stuff with Steam achievements that are not working. I had one achievement left - the heartbreaker and I didn't get it. Really sad.

Then there is the overall interface improvement tech-wise. It's a flash interface and so it is very glitchy, extremely slow, takes a crapload of CPU when opening it, thus slowing it and the game down, causing mouse lag. Something needs to be done about it.

Then also after Patch 1.3 I get stuck after a cutscene transfers into battle, thus I have to die and reload and then it might even happen again, so that's annoying.

So yeah... Most of the stuff I would wish in Patch 1.4 is about the not-so-good GUI.

Thar is couple of things need to be done for 1.4, for example sound fix in prologue wen you escaping from La Valettes cattle jail with bear foot you can still hear Gerald wearing boots. Huge suggestion(demand) that we need wild animals it will make Wiedzmin 2 world close to reality for players, apart from this fix still need to be done not so import improvements so hopefully i can expect some of this fix in 1.4 patch.

Support pagan-metal.

Do we know if they actually have plans to release another patch?

There was a promise to fix 3D Vision at least, so my guess is yes.

I would like a better way to know that you already have things in your inventory and so you don't re-purchase them from a vendor. I would like definitely some more performance from the game engine, I am sure it can be optimized even more. Game runs terrific but at the beginning of Act 2 when there is that massive fight in the fog, there were framerate issues for me though it could be a result of me gaming at 2560 x 1600 with everything maxed out on my old 285 gtx OC editions in SLI.

I would suggest for the future version 1.4 to include and refine best mods out so far for The Witcher 2, which can be found at:

http://www.witchernexus.com/downloads/top/

1) Panel Tweaks (further improves inventory management)
2) HUD Tweaks
3) HIGH TEXTURE
4) Addition of the best texture mod for the armor

Correct the Save-System so the game doesn't crash to desktop every other time I try to Quick-Save or Manual Save... Getting kind of annoying, ha ha.

That would be dumb, not all computers can run the High Res Textures, and it would be dumb to add user-created-content in an Official Patch... They're called Mods because they're OPTIONAL... Don't force users to use Mods they don't want just because they want the latest updates as well.

I totally agree with 1 and 2, but not at all with that fake non-sense "high texture" fraud. It's not really high-texture at all, it's contrast adjustment, and in most cases just colour exaggeration which, as I stated before, makes some stuff look like it's out of Donkey Kong 64. But for sure, we need (yes, NEED) a new inventory management and HUD tweaks.

In my opinion, could very well be included with the patch wizard that can choose what to install. From what I read, for example, the high-texture and reduce the frame only 4-5 fps.

With due thanks to those who created them to make the game more attractive (and thus also for us players), could be further improved and implemented so as not to cause any type of bug.

If I were a creator of a mod any, would be proud to see my own mod implemented and supported in ways that official.

^This... I hate it when people change the contrast or lower the brightness and call it a 'High Res Texture' mod, or just they just add an extreme amount of grain (Such as the Texturen mod with The Witcher I) and call it Hi-Res.

Fix the dice game bugs: a couple of times I had a winning hand but lost. A 5 high straight beats 2 pair right? I don't consider this a must fix btw, its more annoying than anything else.

I'd wish they fixed Geralt's face position when talking to shorter people AKA dwarves, I'd rather he look straight at them than above.

And also, I'm not sure if this was fixed in Patch 1.3 (as I'm doing a playthrough of TW1 and can't try out the new patch) but formulas. Are formulas finally saved into your journal or do you have to keep them in your inventory?

Nothing really new, just reinforcing already listed ideas. I think they're quite important and not just nice to have:

- sort inventory items alphabetically by default. There are mods for it alraedy, it's strange that inventories in vanilla version of the game are still such a mess.
Rationale: if items are ordered in some way, it takes less time (for a human and frankly machine as well) to locate them.

- if possible, in inventories - show mini icon not only for selected item, but smaller (to fit item-selection-bar height) mini icon for all other inventory items as well so that item name is not the only way to communicate "what is this".
Rationale: iconographics is easier recognized by human eye (unlike computer) than written text (item name in inventory, it needs to be processed = read from begin to end).
I mean, it worked in Witcher 1 (item names were only shown as OnHover tooltips, it were just icons that spoke), it will work here as well.

- add minimap NSWE direction arrows - pretty obvious IMHO, without them minimap is close to useless. Or make it possible to entirely disable minimap as no minimap is always better than confusing minimap (RPG games without minimap do exist - like Gothic series)

and less relevant (as there's workaround)
- add back support for some high screen modes (2048x1152 for instance) in Configurator. Patch 1.3 brings some regression since it removes them from Configurator (it's still possible to set it manually in User.ini though)

I think that's all. Game is great and runs perfectly fine for me otherwise :)
Can't wait for Witcher III :)

Well Witcher 1 had a fanmade mod added in a patch. Flash's Combat Rebalance Mod what's to say it won't happen again? Though I agree no texture mods.

The save system and most importantly the bug that prevents me from attacking after I have tried throwing a grenade.

I also copied a thread over from the steam forums you all could add to.
