Patch 1.62 — Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode

+
Sorry if that's a stupid question, but does this patch include anything besides graphics goodies? No other bugfixes or changes of any kind? Maybe some of the minor ones that CDPR tends to not mention in the patch notes?

No, it's entirely graphical in nature as far we know.

The patch has only been out for a few hours so if there is anything else so minor CDPR didn't put in the notes, people haven't found them yet.

Path Tracing is really a game changer, but in this implementation I think that they tuned the autoexposure of the camera at a level too high. All that bloom it's not so cool. Maybe they wanted to achieve a wow effect, but in my opinion the result is something similar to the first implementation of the hdr effect of the yearly 2000s.
Just reduce the overall bloom and everything will be amazing for real. It's better to have darker shadows instead of every surface that shines like crazy.

PS: I've also the bug with the file saved by the photo mode that occupy 0 bytes.

Still stuttering using DLSS3 frame generation on Ryzen CPU when you come out of the menu / map / breach. Makes it pretty unusable.

Edit: also getting weirdness on certain textures. Drivers are up to date. Goes away as soon as I turn off overdrive

Sad to hear it's not fixed still, was really looking forward to this patch but like you say, the bug makes it pretty unusable. I guess they don't read the forums and have only intel in their QA setup?

Performance has dropped by about 10 to 15 fps even without the pathracing mode on, and is more stuttery. Also, the game looks brighter than it used to be, and this is again without pathtracing enabled.

2 cents from Gamers Nexus. The video explains how Path Tracing works, they also show benchmarks with and without Path Tracing, with and without DLSS and so forth. The basic gist is, those guys know what they are talking about, it's a very good tech channel for gaming PC hardware.

Finally, the RT upgrade we've been waiting for!

Looks amazing, but I imagine a 4090 won't be enough to get the performance and visual quality balance I want for this title. I might wait until the next line up of Nvidia GPUs to get the most out of this one. They should arrive in time for Phantom Liberty. Hopefully.

I think its really time for UE… if every patch breaks more than it improves… first Witcher Next Gen Patch now this one… not only we as com but also CDPR deserves better and successful experiences after all what happened.

Time for a System Reset QH. Once and for all...

im getting 70 fps at 1080p in pacifica with a 13700k and 3080ti with DLSS set to quality. Seems pretty playable. Of course it borked my mods, and broke the game even with mods disabled so I had to delete a bunch of folders and verify the game. Sucks, but oh well, I didn't use many mods anyways.

CDPR, it seems that you are cursed to take 1 step in front and 2 steps behind.
You released a "patch" which brings a debatable visual improvements but lower the fps to unplayable and is limited to 4 Nvidia video cards models.
But you did not bring bug fixes, new content at all, even more, you broke some mods which worked before this "patch".
You should have made this ''patch'' OPTIONAL, like in asking players: Do you really want to update to this fake "patch" which is working only to 4 Nvidia video cards models?
The inconvenient truth is that you, CDPR, made this fake "patch" more FOR Nvidia than for PLAYERS.
And putting Nvidia above majority base players of the game is foolish or at least incompetence.
I am asking if is better to shame or "congratulate'' CDPR for this lame NVidia commercial.
Oh, CDPR you deserve both.

ehm... its "forced" upon pc players even if they run cards which arent compatible with its features?... uff... why so?

you can disable auto-updates, all patches are optional. That's kind of on you. Also, I can guarantee that this update wasn't implemented by the same people who fix content bugs. I'll never understand people complaining about new game updates. 1.7 will have bug fixes.

Once again, salt levels are getting a wee bit high in here. Calm your collective tits. This happens with every patch. In every game ever. Can we chill on the haterade for five seconds? Just sit, chill, wait for mods to update, wait for a hotfix and everything will be okay.
