Patch 2.3: Is everyone having these problems?

+
I play both on PC and PS5. And since patch 2.3 was released. I've been experiencing the following bugs:

- NCPD is broken: Since the patch released, the old spawn from everywhere and anywhere NCPD is back. And of course, cars comes in as well. Making a 2 stars confrontation a battle field in just very short moment. It doesn't happen every time. But almost constantly in the northern part of Watson.

- Cars will move forward when you leave the vehicle. This caused my car to kill a pedestrian the first time it happened and NCPD got on my case instantly, with police officers spawning in walls and behind me.

- As already reported everywhere, the autopilot is broken. Any multi level GPS wont work. Especially on corners the gps expect you to turn in a more then 90 degrees turn.

- Multiple phone call won't happen even if the option to skip them is not enabled.

This is not an exhaustive list, but the highest in my opinion that would warrant a roll back of the patch.

CDPR should take if out and fix it. This is unplayable. Especially if like me, you enjoy messing with the law. It was one of the huge draws to replay the game for me.

But right now it's just a mess.

After the patch, many things weren't working. What helped me was to uninstall and then download the game again.

So far I had one FPS drop and one crash to desktop without much reason.

I feel the game very playable 90% of the time.

Big ol' question #0:
Are you using any mods, or have you ever used any in the past?

It's very important that any bug reports come from a playthrough that is not modded and has never been modded. Removing mods mid playthrough can cause a lot of issues.

_______________

The NCPD spawning out of thin air thing does seem to be affecting some players, but not others. Totally possible something may have borked the way it's supposed to be working now. Any clip of this issue occurring in a vanilla run will certainly help. (Just note that if a prior mod to fix police spawning was used, the reference data from that mod may be altering the way the vanilla code performs in the latest patch -- even if the mod fix was removed.)

The vehicle-hitting-the-NPC thing sounds like bad luck, but I totally believe that could happen.

The autodrive having issues does not surprise me -- that sort of system will be hella-complex. I'm sure there will be kinks to iron out. Send quick vids or details. (I love this feature -- it will work, in the end. It must. It's very cool.)

The phone calls not coming through also sounds possible, but also very possible to be caused by a mod or reference data from a mod that altered anything with audio, the car radio, the quest flags of any mission, etc. For this bug in particular, how far along are you in that playthrough? Do you know which calls you were supposed to receive but didn't?

I don't use mod at all. And the problem on PS5 as well. I'm thinking that maybe something is messed up with my save. Or the whole installation was messed up by the patch problem. But with the nature of the update influencing heavily how the path and Line of sight of enemies seems to be at the root of the problem. Once I get a star, NCPD officers will detect me from other side of solid blocking objects and only running out of range will make them stop pursue. Line of sight doesn't seem to work. I'll try to get a clip of that happening and link it here.

Yep. Having same experiences and please for the love of God fix the sprint delay 🙏 and also the grenade command seems to have a delay now. Love the game ! Please keep up the good work guys

Good, if it can be confirmed to be a vanilla issue, that's something CDPR Support can assist with.

Did you happen to migrate a saved game made on PS5 (or any other console) to PC, or vice versa, after the patch released? If, for example, you updated PC to 2.3, then tried to migrate a game from another platform that had been saved under 2.2 or 2.21, that could potentially introduce things that may not line up.

I know the initial fix for police simply had them spawning in from further away. Don't know the actual values for the distances, but you should normally see a drone arrive from someplace more close by, and a few officers will spawn in further away. If things escalate more drones and officers may spawn closer in and so forth, but it shouldn't be spawing in the player's face.

As for them being behind walls, I'm not sure that's entirely avoidable, but they should be spawning in places where they have pathing to the player's location. Something definitely sounds like it's behaving weirdly there.

(Also, let's try to focus on just one bug at a time. If we start having conversations about the NCPD, autodrive, and input delays, all at the same time, the discussion is liable to get confused really quickly.)

I had no time to play since I last wrote, but I intend to do what you suggested. I'll try to get a clip of the bug occurring using the PS5 gameplay recorder and export the clip to here. I have to look up how to do that exactly. And I'll try to transfer the same save to PC and try to duplicate the behavior. I should be able to upload it by tomorrow night at the latest.

N.B. What I meant by police behind walls, I meant police officers would spawn on the other side of a concrete wall and have a lock on me, even if they don't have line of sight. And most cops when the bug occures appear within the range of the minimap so you can see them appear.

Having a different problem myself. I recently bought the game during the Summer Steam sale, and the EULA popup isn't displaying properly, nor is it letting me close it. I've verified the game's files, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but this keeps being an issue.

I will mention I did have Vortex set up before I initially started playing, but I figured the issue would be undone after the reinstall.

Below is a recording of me playing to show the problem.

Don't mess with the law. Be a good citizen and play as expected.

What about the issue of transferring a saved game from a different game version? Could that have happened?

Or, if the issue simply started after you made the update to 2.3, you can disregard.

(It's an important distinction, as updates to games will very often change references that prior-version save files will not be able to read correctly, resulting in weirdness.)

Far as I know, when police spawn, they will know where the player is and start making their way to the site. Or rather, it's like the game creates a "ghost" of the player on the location, and if an NCPD asset gets near that spot and can LoS the player, they'll go hostile. The computer must know the player's location for any sort of "response" system to function. Then, the devs code in a "detection" algorithm so that it creates the illusion of the game engine tracking you down.

Sounds to me as if the game may be spawning NCPD in places that break the pathing between player location and NCPD location, so it's skipping directly to detection mode to avoid a bug or crash...resulting in a bug. (Ain't programming fun?)

Another new issue I am experiencing is the Barghest in the "Moving heat" side job instantly detect V when inside the car. Making the optional objective impossible to complete.

2.3 download itself had corrupted files. Steam said it fixed them and when I went to launch the lie detector determined that was a lie. It told me it cannot launch the game due to those corrupted files and to do a clean install. Hell ya! I get to redo all my settings! Which was annoying because I swear they fixed the issue of leaving some keys unbound in a previous patch, but nope. So I had to rebind my keys twice (since it undoes what you did if you exit without ALL keys bound) and the 2nd time takes longer cuz I have to figure out buttons to bind the 20 or so things I NEVER use.

Finally get in game. Auto drive issue yall are having. When I try first delemain selecting location (press and hold to confirm) was auto selected to the same button as 'exit vehicle' so as soon as I confirm the ride V immediately gets out of the cab and ride canceled. Sweet, to use that now I have to change my exit vehicle button. Photomode wasn't bad, other things seemed alright.... except one INFURIATING change that I've heard other's experience: throwing knife delay. ATM and prior to 2.3 I had 1st weapon as throwing axe and was using Apogee. I was primarily using it to pop sandy and throw my axe at a nade in the air an enemy threw. No longer possible due to switching to the axe it takes a FULL 2 SECONDS just to be able to throw it. Before, I could switch to it and have it ready to throw in less than 1 second. Now i can switch to it, but wait what seems like hours to BE ABLE to throw it. Spamming ADS seems to make it take longer, idk why. I just did my first throwable build over the past month or 2 and loved it, now I don't care for it at all with this new horrible delay.

This is rarely ever corrupted files in the installation. It's most likely a result in desync or something preventing the files from being properly detected when it runs the verification. That could be simple packet loss from a slower connection, the servers hosting the flies being overburdened, some background program interfering, etc.

It can also result from files that have been added from mods. If there's any sort of addition or overwrite to actual installation directory files, it's very possible the installation process can detect they're incorrect but cannot reconcile the game's installation files against the modded files. Less common now, but with more involved mods that sometimes require the addition or overwrite of .dll or .cfg files, it can still happen.

I wouldn't worry about the installation being corrupted, though. if using such a mod, just remove the added or altered files. If not using mods, I'd try to do a full verify/repair during non-peak hours for your ISP.

I don't use mods, but the clean install worked. I've done it before so it didn't take very long for me to do it. My only gripe with it was redoing all my settings and doing the key binding twice because I guess they didn't fix leaving key bind screen with things left unbound. I swear that was a major point in patch like 2.0 or something, maybe I'm mis-remembering it all together, I have a tendency to do that :(

playing on mac m2 max studio, one random crash, my vehicle double spawns sometimes. just encountered game breaking bug - screen turns white on BD's, can hear dialog and game is still going but have no control and stuck with white screen. did this on tutorial bd, (convenient store murder bd) (at lizzys with judy and eve) so reloaded and skipped tutorial bd, but bd still white screen, hit esc to menu selection and back into game and screen kinda shows but does not fully load, can hear t-bug and scene play out, have controls inside bd but can't see. just white screen.
so not going to upload a video i think this has been reported enough.
fresh install, no mods. verified integrity, reinstalled anyway, still same problem. purchased thru GOG. hope they fix it soon.
while trying to look into this for a fix, i read white screen is a common problem with this game especially since Johnny alternate appearance update. ,, maybe just remove the annoying white screen effect from the game altogether if its such an ongoing issue?

Did you send a ticket to the support ("contact us" button) at least?
Even if many already reported it, more players report the issue the better ;)

update on white screen, It is NOT a game breaking bug. i found after playing with settings, turning off resolution scaling and frame rate generation made the bd scenes play properly, even in game without restarting or reloading. hope this helps anyone else having this issue
(i apologie for my frustrated suggestion in previous post) :p
actually, i don't even know if those settings are graphically improving my game visually or performance wise, as this computer can run it on ultra settings with no issues thus far, aside form above mentioned. oh, i also discovered that double spawning my vehicle was due to accidental spamming of call vehicle button.
