Patch 4.03 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is being rolled out and will soon be available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox! This update contains various gameplay and quest fixes.

We're hard at work to bring the patch to Nintendo Switch players as soon as possible and we're hoping to have it out in the following months. Thank you for your patience!

Speaking of Switcher, here's a heads-up for Nintendo Switch players: the previous save file integration with Steam and GOG clouds, introduced in patch 3.6, will be replaced and upgraded in the upcoming patch with the new Cross Progression system that has been introduced on other platforms with patch 4.00. This is to align with our other games and to bring you a unified experience across all platforms. The new system is going to require a GOG account regardless of your PC platform.

Below, you'll find a list of the most notable changes for update 4.03.

PC-SPECIFIC
  • Fixed an issue with ray-traced vegetation shadows “popping”, depending on Geralt’s proximity and angle.
  • Fixed an issue where repeatedly disabling and enabling ray-traced reflections and shadows could cause black shadows to appear at the edge of objects.
  • Addressed the issue where the DirectX 11 version of the game could crash on launch or after loading a save on certain AMD GPUs.
  • Added support for Intel Xe Super Sampling, an upscaling technology that uses machine learning to improve performance and image quality.
  • Fixed some lighting issues with Screen Space Reflections when ray-traced global illumination is off.
  • Performance improvements to ray-traced global illumination and ray-traced reflections.
  • Fixed an issue where purple splashes could appear on the screen when riding Roach through puddles of water.
CONSOLE-SPECIFIC
  • The Cross Progression pop-up will now properly display which account is logged in.
  • Fixed an issue where dark stripes or shadows appeared on Geralt in the inventory screen when Performance Mode was enabled on PlayStation 5.
  • Fixed an issue where the game could briefly freeze or stutter when autosaving on next-gen consoles.
  • Addressed the issue of performance drops on next-gen consoles while using Witcher Senses in Beauclair and Novigrad.
VISUAL - PC and Next-Gen Exclusive
  • Fixed an issue where a grid of light spots could appear on the ground and walls in certain weather conditions with Ray Tracing enabled.
  • Spider webs will no longer change color when moving the camera with Ray Tracing enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where some textures on characters during cutscenes would appear as not fully rendered.
  • Through Time and Space - Fixed an issue where the mist in the Poisoned Valley was pink instead of white.
QUESTS & GAMEPLAY - PC and Next-Gen Exclusives
  • Added the community-made mod Next Gen Script Fixes by Sergeanur.
QUESTS & GAMEPLAY - Available on all platforms
  • In the Eternal Fire's Shadow - The ambient music from the quest will no longer continue playing after completion. For players who have already experienced this issue, it may be necessary to enter the Novigrad or Oxenfurt sewers again to resolve it.
  • Added an option to auto-apply oils in combat.
  • With the exception of potions and decoctions, it's now impossible for Geralt to eat or drink underwater. // While the team agreed it might be possible to drink liquids from a corked flask, consuming pints of ale or grilled meats underwater is too much of a stretch.
Please note: these are only the most notable changes. The patch contains other minor fixes that didn't make it into this list.

    FINALLY!!! KUDOS CDPR!!!

My camera sensitivity got stuck at 0 and can't be moved. Ps5, v4.02 and v4.03. It is a bug. Please fix it! :(

For some odd reason Aerondight is completely invisible on my game and it’s model won’t reappear whatever I do.

I don’t know if this is only on PS4 or not, but something that is only related to PS4 is how they STILL haven’t changed the Iris scabbard to the next gen one. We PS4 players still have that nail polisher as sword holder for Iris.

Please add the option to turn off camera shake and bobbing effect while running or walking on consoles. Thank you!

Shadows are STILL bugged. Without raytracing a lot of shadows are missing or extremely bland. Keep in mind these were perfectly fine in the old version of witcher 3. Please guys can somebody notice the developers already?
I really want to play the game again but so many places especially dark ones with torches or fireplaces look rly bad.

I've personally been waiting for a fix to broken interior lighting and hairworks discoloration when the RT is on to begin my first next-gen Witcher 3 playthrough. Unhappy to report that I am going to have to wait some more :)

Oh wow, maybe the game will stop crashing finally? Although DX11? I'm using DX12 and is crashing a lot. We will see.

Nice, I did not expect such large performance improvement with RT enabled. Finally Novigrad runs at mostly 60fps without drops to 30s and 40s.
And RT shadow pop-in is also fixed. Good work!

I was a bit worried the game was always going to be busted with RT enabled, given the age of the engine. Glad to see these improvements.

You are probably going to have to roll back to 4.02, remove auto apply oils, run Witcher Script Merger and then re-apply the 4.03 patch. If you remove it after the patch then you are also removing the script merge

I need to know how to increase the building high quality texture render distance, it's really noticeable when using first person mod and breaks immersion

Edited my previous comment away. I reinstalled the Game and it runs finally flawless for me. Even the Raytracing Performance with a 7900XTX is gotten better. I'm happy to play my 16th Playthrough further :)

Perhaps fix the invisible swords bug too (visual bugs), please? For example, the Toussaint Knight's Steel Sword is invisible while being in White Orchard map. After the 4.03 update, the Aerodight is now invisible while being in the White Orchard, Vizima, Velen/Novigrad, and Skellige maps. I am playing the Complete Edition on the PS4.

I Hate to keep bringing this up, but on the PS5 version of the game, ik still getting the blurry face and clothing bug when talking to anyone "I'm assuming" next to a light source. I tried recording, but the console recording looked to blurry to see the issue easily. I saw that a recent patch said it fixed the blurry or fuzzy bug, but it's not fixed for me, in performance mode or the ray tracing mode.

I did that before updating because I saw the notes and am here because I also received the error. Game is currently unplayable.

***Editing to add that the issue regarding the error message was in fact due to the mod 'FriendlyMeditation' rather than AutoApplyOils. Hopefully this helps others.
