Patch Downgrade?
Hello,
I preloaded and started playing Witcher 3 literally as soon as Steam would allow. I was extremely amazed by the graphics and quality of the game. Now the patch came out yesterday and it looks like it was turned into an 8 bit version (figuratively), but really the graphics are far less impressive.
The faces now look extremely low quality (they don't shine or have that "pop"), foliage/grass look 2d almost, The clothing and armor has lost it's depth (When looking at plate armor the pauldrons appeared to be in layers before patch, now there is just a black line and they look 2d). Most of the issues are regarding depth (Not a DOF issue, I mean dimensional depth). For the most part the cut scenes look the same.
However in game for example Geralt looks blocky. I have him wearing some medium plate like armor. The layers of his shoulders blend together, the armor also no longer shines or shows any light reflection.
I realize the patch had to be released for some people were having issues (I honestly had yet to encounter a bug in my 20 hours). However the overall decrease in performance and quality makes me not want to touch it until it's resolved. I hope that my explanations provide some help as to fixing this. I am very impressed and quite literally this has become tied for my all time favorite game, I hope it can stay that way.
specs
i7-4770k
Msi Mpower Max Z87 AC edition
16Gb 2133Mhz Ripjaw Z
GTX 780 (EVGA Ref 3Gb)
Liquid cooled
Edit: I have attempted to apply the unofficial patches. I am running all the custom Nvidia application tweaks. There is minor improvement.
Funily enough I applied the GeForce experience settings and they set literally everything to ultra. Things worked only slightly better (maybe 4-5 frames). However I dropped down background characters to high, foliage distance to high, and grass to medium. Its running around 30 fps.
The game still doesn't look as good nor as smooth as day one (damn other people and their bitching about bugs! I was enjoying my game)
