PC keybindings REALLY?

PC keybindings REALLY?

Its not hard to allow PC players to decide what keybinds they want to use. mostly every other PC game allows this. hell even past Witcher titles have allowed this. i cannot fathom a reason that this step back has been taken. completely LOCKING certain keybinds? I do not feel i need to relearn basic movement and other things while trying to enjoy the game. this in itself detaches and distracts players like myself from enjoying the game due to frustration with relearning controls. i try to keep all similar actions bound to the same keys in all games i play (ex: turn left and right (if there is no strafe option) i always use Q and E. it is more comfortable for me and natural feeling. and that is only one example. this is absolutly ridiculous and nonsensible. i was already disapointed about the OBVIOUS graphical downgrade and now THIS? what the actual fuck was going though your minds. FIX YOUR BROKEN GAME. I have heard users state that when they complained about this CDPR responded with "download 3rd party programs if you dont like it". REALLY? how unprofessional. shows how much they care for their fanbase. i guess its all about the $$$ for these guys too now. i wonder if they have any idea the amount of distrust and dissapointment they have brought upon themselves from their fanbase. i will force myself to use a controller for this port in the mean time. (guess thats what they are trying to force us to do; get us used to controllers so we all buy consols lol) I am a PC gamer and i feel like some respect on my part is due. i payed my hard earned money for this console ported "PC" game, the least you could do for me in return is allow me to enjoy it with proper M&KB bindings that suite my personal playstyle. its not hard and not much to ask. i have never posted a complaint on a forum before but this really pissed me off. THE HYPE WAS REAL. lol

just go to input.settings file and edit it however you like (it's in your documents/witcher 3 folder)

If you really are such a pc player it should be obvious thing to check those files before coming to forums, raging.

I switch my a and d movement keys to q and e, respectively. A quick search of the input.settings file shows a paltry 412 instance of IK_E, 9 instances of IK_Q, and 19 of IK_D and IK_A. That sure is fun to try and go and replace all of those to IK_D and E. Even if I do a replace all, I have to wade through and check when changing my movement keys back. Can it be done? Sure. It is far from intuitive or easy. And it's a hell of a lot more difficult than adding in the option in the keybindings to change it. And sure, I can use autohotkey to swap my key presses. But the fact that I have to do so much digging or resorting to a 3rd party, albeit awesome, program is saddening.

From a company such as CDPR, who claims to be "PC first", this is extremely disheartening! I loved the Witcher, the Witcher 2, and I'm loving the game part of the Witcher 3 so far. It's purely technical aspects of W3 that have me shaking my head.

I will also add (since edit apparently doesn't work) , saying something can be fixed by using a 3rd party program or doing serious PC gymnastics does not excuse the oversight in the first place. Take your attitude elsewhere, because this is a legitimate complaint.
