PC mouse and keyboard controls

I'm hesitant to trust that "fully bind"-comment. there are games that have multiple actions on the same key and you can't separate them. you can still "fully rebind" every key, just not every action. let's hope for the best though.

Any competent PC game will have full rebindable keys (mouse 4&5 included) so I kinda expect that to be there in Witcher 3.

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but in TW2 the key to dodge was the space bar now in TW3 space bar is used to jump. So I was wondering how would we dodge with mouse and keyboard and which key is it to dodge now?

I only ask because I personally thought space bar worked fairly well for dodging in TW2.
I understand that keys change when in and out of combat. For instance, witcher senses are RMB according to Jesse's video, while that key is also Heavy Attack, so I'm guessing that space will still be there for dodging - whether roll or side-step, and that you can't jump in battle.

Gopher on his Q&A stream: "I played with Mouse and Keyboard for about 30 min (at YT event) and it seamed fine, but I was not allowed to record"

i was gonna say that.
this may be a bit off-topic, but he also mentionned that the UI is more designed for a controller, but could still be used with M/K just fine.

Easy to say when you have no stake in the actual development process. Every cent is allocated way ahead of time, you can't shift funds so lightly, especially when you run a large business as CDPR's.

Even less "fungible" when the marketing money isn't yours. Marketing for this title is being paid for by the distributors.

And throwing money at a problem that isn't solved to some people's satisfaction late in development is, well, a recipe for not only solving the problem in a way that makes even more people unhappy but also jeopardizing the release date.

At this point, the game is what it is, and no amount of complaining will change it. Play the game, then recommend specific changes. Hope they make it into the first patch.

Yep, shut up and eat :) and say thank you for what you got. We dont think that game is unplayable with K/M, no. The problem is in this: why should PC gamers play the game designed for controller in the first place? Only because you relese game on console doesn't mean you should forget about K/M supprot and UI. The samples of Blizzard and RockStar shows us that it's a lot of work to make port to PC or consoles. And they never release it at the same time. It took Rockstar 2 years to make propper port for PC it took Blizzard 1 year to make propper port for consoles. So maybe CDPR should make Wild Hunt PC only first and then make propper port for consoles? To be honest I don't know, but I think releasing game on PC with console UI isn't good practice. And telling us to wait for the first patch or mods is a bad sign too.

The game is done and shipped. Nothing will change unless Day 1 patch or later patches are delivered. Any suggestions made now are simply futile.

Noone here played the game so it's so far hard to judge how the PC controls are and how the UI actually feels. You can only find out about it while you play. All people say right now are just assumptions.

If AFTER we play the game it turns out that UI or PC controls are not satisfying, it will be good to come here and post some constructive feedback and suggestions. CDPR are known for listening to those.

Seeing this topic still lives - yesterday Gopher made a 2hr Witcher 3 QnA stream, where he was, among other things, asked about K+M. He said he actually tried it and it felt completely fine to him. So there may have been some minor issues with it during the youtubers session, maybe it wasn¨t polished, but it was definitely working.

Well, it's not that futile as someone may think. This topic shows PC gamers concern and maybe with CDPR next game release they will show gameplay not only with controller to satisfy their customers.

And this is a problem, why just not to show us video so we can see this PC controls, why they are hiding them? It's not helping to settle down PC comunity.

But what will SHOWING the controls change? You want to see the button prompts? The game is available on PC so there will be K+MB controls 100%.

How those controls WORK and FEEL is something totally different and noone is able to judge it until the game is played. And even then people will have different opinions. But we are not able to find out about it without actually playing and feeling if the controls are smooth or not, if there's mouse accel or not etc etc.

I would love to see a video where they would be showing of how the menus can be controlled by M+K.. from vidoes showing combat and such stuff is not important, becasue as you mentioned, you can't tell how they feel and how good they react and this stuff.. but menus? Yeah, It would help a lot to see them and to know how they handle with M+K

I'm sure CDPR make KB+M run fine... but this is my concern. A PC KB+M company from the very begining could let thier KB+M just run fine. Nothing about intuitive, quick responsive in combat, handle combo keys.... calificatives I think (maybe I'm wrong) are used for testers about controllers.... What about equality between them? This is not like graphics or resolutions where anyone can see the differents physical limitations of each of them. When KB+M system is correct one uses fine to define it. When is good, when combat system responses like the player wants as quickly as his fingers click, one's doesn't say fine, one says good, great or awesome.

Fine is still the term which worry me. May I?

I defer to your greater knowledge & thank you for illuminating my ignorance. Have to say tho that I didn't experience any problems with W2 UI. Maybe if it had been designed for KB&M it would have been simpler/easier/more intuitive but it was certainly usable. I still buy old games in sales & several of them won't recognise most of my gaming mouse buttons in key remapping, which is definitely annoying to say the least! However, I'm confident in CD PR having FULL key remapping, so I'm not worried there, but your point about the UI still stands.

We can see the menu navigation and we can hear impressions from people if they were allowed to use KB/M during their hands on session.

gregski, I suspect that ajiehb is concerned with the nuances of gameplay that can be perceived from watching gameplay vids. Of course there are many other varying factors that can affect such nuances, not least the players system specs! However, personally, when said gameplay is available primarily to demonstrate/promote an unreleased game, I think those responsible should provide us viewers with all relevant info inc. sys specs & players age & experience. It's not like us Witcher fans are not going to buy it anyway, but subtleties like that can ward off early disillusion/disappointment, which could save some negative feedback. Having said that, I'm confident that W3 is going to be a great game & I don't anticipate any problems with the control interface.
btw, great choice of avatar! It used to be mine until quite recently. Damn fine game imo, I still play it when I want simple straight forward shooter mayhem! :)

After seeing recent footage from gog i have even bigger concerns about m&k controls. Looks like the camera is automatic this time around. It isn't only matter that you can't control the zoom but it looks like geralt is moving separately to the camera. The controls might be more similar to something like metal gear rising which is even less compatible with m&k than dark souls. I might be wrong, but that might be the reason why they don't want people to use m&k.

Sirnaq, I'm not convinced that 'they don't want people to use KB&M', I suspect that they may be concerned with the larger Console market & simply target their promotion accordingly. :)
