My settings for GTX 970 @ 1380 MHz:
In Postprocessing I have Motion Blur and Chromatic Aberration Off, AO is set to HBAO+, the rest is On.
In Graphics I have VSync and HairWorks Off, Shadow Quality set to High, rest is on Ultra.
I also forced 16x AF through the driver.

Performance is quite good so far.

GTX 970 @1456 Mhz core / 8008Mhz memory (effective)
i7-4790k @4.6Ghz
2560x1080
All settings max (including Hairworks)

45FPS / 1800mb video memory used

Note: GPU and CPU have room for increasing overclock.

Note Again: 1540Mhz core / 8120Mhz memory is producing 51fps.

Hm, I'm lucking a bit out here, it seams. My ALIENWARE 14 i7 with a GTX 765, 16 GB RAM and SSDs isn't doing too well on high if I go anywhere over a resolution then 1600x900. I guess having a rig that could run TW2 on ultra wasn't quite enough for TW3... still looks great on high, though, so it's not so bad.

anyone know why in the rendering.ini the settings state otherwise than my in-game settings? also has anyone been getting micro stutters, the last time I've experienced that was in the original Dead Island, the frame rate doesn't drop, but you notice a slight stutter every now and then... pretty annoying

[Sard Edit: Welcome, Happy Forum Goers! Please enjoy this thread on PC specs and benchmarks for the Witcher 3. Now, before we get started, a few things:

Keep It Civil. Seriously. Lose your temper or get into an emotional whatever, and you're gone.

Keep it Informative. Add to the discussion, amplify what's there, whatever. Don't repeat yourself or others.

Improve Things! Is your post going to make the thread a better place to be or a worse one? Exactly.

Here's a list of things we will chop you and your post for: Console wars. Calling CDPR or others liars. Yelling about downgrades. Yelling about anything. Starting or continuing an angry argument. Name-calling. Repeatedly complaining, or, really, repeatedly anything. Failing to appreciate Grandfather Nurgle...er, wait, never mind.

Anyway. Show off your specs, talk PC optimizations, go over benchmarks and features. Break the rules and you're gooone. ]

sudey posted:
PC Games Hardware: "For maximum settings in The Witcher 3 enough GeForce GTX 770 and Radeon R9 280x total PC Games Hardware noted that, despite the abundance of details and pretty good graphics, the game need only two gigabytes of graphics memory for Full HD,"

I don't undertand half of what this says.

But looks like saying something negative is a SIN or something like that. I don't find that "civil", calling an opinion about downgrade "yelling" or anything. Looks like just writing the word "downgrade" or "less good than before" or "not so nice in some thing" is a SIN ? Why i didn't see in any forum rule "Forbidden to talk about downgrades", that way would be so much easier for any non-aligned costumer.

3440x1440 screenshots and benchmarks

My rig is in my sig, but at 3440x1440 on Ultra, with hairworks off and ambient occlusion set to ssao, I get 30-32 fps outside and 35-47fps inside. I will say that I get no stutter at all, very smooth despite the low framerate.

like i said in another post. ****GTA 5 : all very high / ultra except vegetation ( high ) smooth shadow ( normal ) min fps 60 no matter what. ( i'am mainly around 70+ fps ) ****AC unity min fps 45 ****Witcher 3 with a very low average visual quality ( sorry, but compare to the 2 others game i used as exemple, that game dont look terrible ) i have hard time to go over 50fps even with vegetation density to low, and vegetation distance to medium. Imho, before accusing the computer configuration & co, its easy to compare with other games and see how they made a VERY bad job for the optimization.... I never thought it would be possible... But actualy, they made a worse job that Ubisoft with Assassin Creed Unity. Champion...

---------- Updated at 03h26 ----------

Since that forum ( like the game ) is kinda broken and i never succeed to edit my post. About GTA 5 i only use FXAA as AA. Anyway. they gave us a very bad optimized console port for PC. Stop search issues with your configuration.

Not true a stock 980 wont outoerform a titan x on 1440p and for the most part you wont see much of a difference in 1080p but the titan x will beat it

I playing on High settings 1080p ( foliage visibility medium) 30 -45( when riding)
Gtx 660ti
FX 4300
8gb ram

I think i'm running ok but the mouse sensibility its strange, also the controls, I just finish witcher 2 so it feels so clunky to me.

okay here is my conclusion : this game run great or optimize quite well on 900 series but worse on old graphic card. it is 180 degrees what happened on GTA V. on gta V 900 series perform well but not as good as 700 series, my friend with 770 can get 70 fps(ultra) on GTA V, mine with 970 only around 55-65 fps. on witcher 3 a 960 can run as good as 770 or even 780 (that's what i see from internet though)

I'm impressed, I didn't get a chance to d/l it on my Alienware 14 (same specs) and wondered if I should bother, but now you say that.... :)

To add to the thread : On my rig below, on Ultra (with exception of hairworks and only ssao) displaying at 3440x1440 I get 31-32 fps outdoors and 35-47 indoors. It is very smooth however, despite the crappy framerate.

Tested TW3 with 2x GTX680 SLI + 4770k I7 CPU. Hairworks is a killer. I played on max with hairworks on --> fps between 25 and 45 . I than lowered foliage visibility to high and disabled hairworks --> fps between 45 and 60 (limited to 60). So those 2 settings make a very big difference in my setup.
Hairworks is really nice, to bad its to demanding.

You can still play around with Hairworks in the configuration ini file. Out of the box, HW uses quite a lot of MSAA to make the hair look smooth - that surely is a real killer.

I got a same rig with weaker cpu, I truned on everything including hairwork and HBAO+, still smooth as hell and I didn't even bother to check the fps, cuz it feels like 40+ to me...didn't expect the actual numbers to be lower than 40 lol. However, it feels like the frame rate is lower when im inside the building...

I'm upgradeing my GPU was going to wait and see what and when the 390x and 890 ti are like. but the titan x is not bad option for me I use my rig for art (drawing painting in photoshop/painter at 16k offten downsize the files after makes it easy to do the more fine detals. I aslo do film edditing and can put the 12 gigs to use. The titan x has a good over clock headroom and I won't go sli or crossfire it wont help for video edditing or art. waiting for amd to relase the 390x I think its going to come out after E3 right now I have a 7970 and have been puting off playing the game I want to turn everything right up when I play... 1st world problems..

i74930K
gtx 980 SLI
16 GB DDR3

All things to ultra, on full HD without hairworks fps between 80 and 120 with hairworks fps between 50 and 90.
Great game beautifull graphics.

Only thing i dislike a bit is gerald animation he,s a bit stiff and dull compared to the witcher 2 gerald, specially in combat, i still like the combat from the witcher 2 better, lesser delays.

Nice :) It does feel smooth I admit, no framedrops. Without the fps counter I'd say it was higher than 30 for sure. Sometimes fps counters do weird things lol. I haven't tried hbao+ or hairworks and tbh I can see my system choking with that on. Though I have yet to apply my overclock profile and test it.

Are you on 3440x1440 too?
