I know Nvidia released their charts and so, but do you think I'll be able to play everything turned on ( including HBAO+) without Hairworks on EVGA GTX 980 SC ATX 2.0 on 1440p display at around 60 fps?

Will probably buy GTX 980 Ti when it's available in order to play the Witcher 3 with ultra settings

I think you'll be absolutely fine. You'll most likely get some dips now and then, but you should maintain close to 60. I'm not sure how intensive Hairworks is going to be, but from my experience with the gorgeous Far Cry 4, Hairworks shouldn't drop a ridiculous amount of FPS.

So i found a poiler free footage of TW3 on youtube. Running on

i3 3.0Ghz
8gb ram
Gtx660
On HIGH settings!

Avg framerate - 40
Lowest - 12
Highest - 70
CDPR seems to have done a great job with optimization!
I am going to get a PC version too! :)

So you're just going to assume that he was playing on PC? NO PROOF! lol

Source? The 660 is listed on the minimum requirements to run the game, and the 560 Ti is a fraction below the 660. It's pretty bizarre to have a minimum requirement card to run the game at high settings.

Apart from the video links in the OP which does claim exactly that we have PCGames Hardware saying a 770 is enough for Ultra settings smoothly (which is generally considered by them as at least 40+ FPS consistently), so it's reasonable to believe a 660 will be able to go for high settings. But yes, it's currently all guesswork.

And let's not forget that official system requirements tend to be utter crap in 9/10 cases in my experience. I'm regularly able to play at higher settings than those statements tell while on the other hand sometimes failing to meet them if the game is really badly optimized (like AC:U at launch).

Can I ask a quick question?

If the rest of the PC is upgraded but not my GC - will my AMD Radeon HD 7870 hold me back? I'm not a tech-guy :(

7870 approx.= R9 270 = maybe 75% of R9 280. You won't get all the frame rate or eye candy, but I can't imagine it will make the game less than worthwhile.

@huber1989 The stated system requirements were put out long before optimization of the game had yielded any useful results. The apparent result, which is that the optimization of the game was a great success, reflects the hard work of the engineers, not any kind of falsehood. Therefore, further statements to the effect that the stated system requirements are somehow "crap" or bogus are going to be treated as flamebait.

Anyone know how the phenom 2's work? I've got a1100t. My gpu is a 970 and I havn't been noticing any bottlenecks however I'm just wondering about general performance?

I've been reading that the game isn't too CPU intensive and the phenom 2 940 is in the minimum?

That is still a decent CPU. Did you overclock it already?

---------- Post merged on 17-05-2015 at 12:03 AM ----------

GTX 680 (2x 4Gb) sli + I7 4770k. They say 680 GTX sli has about same performance as a GTX980 so this should be fine. I'll post a benchmark when the game is available. Can't wait.

Some of the sites being referenced with these benchmarks I'm unfamiliar with. My assumption would be that they do their testing at stock clocks etc. For those that frequent them-- would I be wrong in that assumption, or do they push their cards to the limit when testing?

What is the rest of your PC? CPU, motherboard, power supply, total RAM, etc? A second hand or new HD7870 could increase your performance with 70% when using crossfire. Off course your motherboard and power supply must be able to handle it.

Holy crap man O.O
There are a couple 4k videos on Ultra settings making the rounds that were recorded on (at least) 1Titan X (Im relying on google translate and youtube comments to gather that info on the second video). If you look closely in the upper right corner you'll see the fraps counter which hovers between upper 20s and mid 30s.

So I think you'll be ok so long as the SLI is working as intended.

Truth be told he's just saying that all games do it....not just this one.....a statement that i can largely confirm based on my own experience...
so, yes, i don't think he's openly calling out anyone on "falsehood". :)

I am sorry I could not go in person and check for myself.
But I do not see why anyone would lie about it.

Lets hope i can maintain the 80 fps as a minimum on full HD with @ least everything on ultra with aa plus hairworks on with my rig.

I use a 120 hz monitor and 60 fps is not nice as minimum so lets hope that wil not be the case
Farcry 4 ran pretty smooth on ultra with 4xmsaa with my gtx 980 in sli and 4930k with 16 of ram @ 1600 mhz.

Before that i had only a single gtx 980 it was fine with hairworks on on full HD but as soon i put MSAA to 4x it was unplayable on a single gtx 980 sli solved this problem by allot.

So assuming all of this is true, how well would my rig handle The Witcher 3 @ 1080?

GTX 760
i5 3570k @ 4.2GHz
16GB DDR3

There's a thread where people are asking if their rig will run it here:
http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/32979-The-Witcher-3-Wild-Hunt-PC-System-Requirements-are-here!

It's probably best to post such questions in that thread, as it's where the "answerers" tend to hang out.
