I'm happy with patch 1.02 PC changes... now the game looks a lot more like 2013 trailers... thank you CDPR, keep supporting pc community

It will destroy your framerate, if that helps. :)

Wow... this is very nice! No more yellow tint. Contrast... visible sky. I'm super happy. It looks like our complaints are finally listened to!

Sorry to be like that, but i think you're drawing assumptions here. Like a cat that's meowing the whole day and thinks that it gets fed only because of the constant meowing. I don't think it has anything to do with the complains. IMHO they planned like that in the first place and all the complains had nothing to do with it.

Rly? 80fps on 980 before patch and drivers (according to Kinely and his source) vs. 50fps on 980 after new patch and driver + "better looking" filter? Seriously?

Check this out: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/commoncfm/comparison/indexb2.cfm?id=125693

Higher LoD, foliage density (the trees at the village), HBAO, wheat fileds, shadows resolution and so on.
Quoting from the article:
"At this point, the review version comes into play, which we received project on weekends from CD. After we started a new game to have any problems to go with older savegames from the way fiehlen us almost immediately a significantly improved level of detail with much less disturbing eye-catching pop-up and a more pleasing appearance to, above all, thanks now better shading and illumination of the vegetation. A slight blur effect is now in some weather conditions over the horizon, the shadows are crisper. In addition, the marine display now shows thanks to tessellation obviously dynamic, it now responds to Geralt Witcher characters and other influences. A direct comparison with the same savegame and at the same time of day and weather conditions also obviously falls on different color grading. The image of the Review version seems less colorful. The visual difference between the preview version and our review version at least equal to an additional level of detail, so as of "very high" to "Ultra". " .

Ouch doesn't look like I'll be running in Ultra with my Oc'd 970 sli (x2) and 3440x1440 monitor.

Though some of the settings can be decreased I think without losing much in the way of visual fidelity.

I haven't seen any of the twitch streams or comparison screenshots between those patches but if it makes the game better then be happy PC gamers this is what you wanted right ? :p

Take note that was ALL on ultra, I am confident that lowering the shadows and AA can give you 50-60 Ultra W/H on a 970 / r9 290, the most common high end GPU out there

We'll have to see what kind of performane tweaking we can do for it once the game unlocks. If there's a way to tone down aspects of it. The ini files state that hw msaa( x8 ) is used on hairworks, but I don't even think hw aa is supported at all in-game, so I'm not sure yet.

I personally only want the fur simulation physics from it. Really prefer the in-house hair for Geralt. The Hairworks version looks like he has just had it pampered at a salon lol. Freshly brushed to fabulousness.

I like the unbrushed look of the RED Engine version, but me wans the fur physics... hmm.

there was an in game AA...probably it's just FXAA not MSAA so lowering this doesn't help too much :)

Hey, Guys!

I'm not that big of a Techie. Does anyone know where my GTX TITAN from 2013 could be in that Benchmark list? (6GB I think)

Thanks in advance :)

The lod etc is there - they changed it, confirmed it... and I can easily tell you that there is a lot more detail visible in the far. You can missinterpret "a lot more" - ofc it is a detail - but a important one.

Here I must agree with you :)

PCGames (sister magazine of PCGames Hardware) shows some more comparisons between the preview and release build: http://www.pcgames.de/The-Witcher-3-PC-237266/News/Day-One-Patch-1159227/

But what's more interesting to me is that they used an i5 at 3.5 GHz, 16GB RAM + GTX 970. I guess that means an i5 is still enough to play the release version without problems.

No wonder almost all developers hate catering to PC. They can't win.

They lower visuals for more performance "fuuuckaan downgrade sellouts, etc, etc". They then improve, and fix visuals, to increase the graphical quality, and re-introduce some other aspects missing form preview builds. What do they get? "duuur crappy console ports, shiity performance derpa derpa"

Uber ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Disclaimer: (No personal offense intended. It's just ridiculous lol)

I'm more worried about optimization on pc (from the benchs it seems cdpr didn't care about pc customers...) than about the "downgrade".

I must be blind... But I don't see the specs for a 980 anywhere on that page. It skips from titan to a 970......
