Performance issues + Broken gameplay features

I'm just going to start a thread with all the issues/bugs that I have seen or experienced whilst playing The Witcher 3... sorry if some were mentioned previously but here goes.


Specs:

Intel Core i5 2500K @ 4.5Ghz (Overclocked)

Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 motherboard

Kingston 16GB 1600Mhz oced to 1866Mhz

ASUS GTX 980 STRIX OC Edition (further OCed)

ASUS GTX 770 2GB OC Edition (dedicated to physx)

Corsair RM850 PSU



Issues:

MAJOR ONE - CRASHES CONSTANTLY AFTER PATCH 1.04...????????

- I set the cutscenes to 60fps in the config.. and they stay at 24fps and lag a little? (based on first cutscene video)

- Poor grass quality
- Poor Texture quality even on Ultra

Grass in general looks horrible regardless of the setting it is on, how did you manage to make the Grass look worse than The Witcher 2... how. Serious question.

- HBAO+ does next to nothing to shadows
Never really been a fan of HBAO+ however in this game it basically does nothing at all. Proof that it gives a slight extra shadow but nothing like Splinter Cell Blacklist... not even close.

What is the point of HBAO+ if the implementation is worse than SSAO?

- Broken Character screen, not showing Geralt
- Trading items are worth next to nothing, when the item appears in the traders inventory it is worth +92% of the original trade value?
- Unlocked framerate causes the game to stutter (within a range of 82fps-42fps) whilst panning or turning around quickly
GPU usage may be tied to this, due to decreasing when the frame drop occurs
- Vsync causes unstable framerates (~47-51fps), sure it's above 30fps but it is still not very playable if it is stuttering or hitching around constantly




Gameplay alterations:

- Character unlocks are hard to understand compared to The Witcher 2's skill tree. If you could add or someone could mod a similar skill tree which include a broken up tree that doesn't force you to unlock skills you do not wont.



I noticed that the patch notes for 1.03 included a so called "performance improvement" section....? Exactly what performance did you fix because it doesn't feel like anything was fixed in that regard at all.

"Improves stability in gameplay and the UI
Improves performance especially in cutscenes and gameplay
Fixes grass and foliage popping that could occur after density parameters were changed"


None of this seems to of actually done anything, grass and foliage still pop in and alter on medium-high, it appears to do this within a range of 50-100 metres? Which doesn't look good at all.


EDIT:
ISSUES:

- GPU Overclocking causes the game to crash
- Signs not responding fast enough or the wait time is extremely long compared to The Witcher 2 for no reason
- Fall damage is way to much, distance 5m causes you to loose around 50% health?

- Backwards Alchemy system where you can only carry a limited number of any consumables and the way to replenish those consumables is to meditate
- Would prefer a system with no limit on number I can carry and craft new ones when I need, not craft once and then need to use a different mechanic to replenish.

Once again performance is not fixed with a GTX 980 either with the latest Nvidia driver (353.30) or any of the previous hotfix drivers up to 353.49 as well as the latest game update (1.06)... what is going on here, the stuttering is not getting any better.

I will say this again, THE FOLIAGE CAUSES THE GAME TO STUTTER AT ANYTHING HIGHER THAN MEDIUM... needs an optimization patch of some kind in-order to sustain a stable framerate around 60fps without sudden drops.

If I appear to be rude, it is because I am angry that the game performs the way it does, this was noticed by myself within the first 40 minutes of playing the game.

Also if you have any other issues please feel free to mention them and I will add them to the thread, cheers.

Yeah I noticed the alt tabbing issue as well, forgot to put it in whoops lol. As for an unlimited amount to carry... that sounds like a mod.

No what I mean is unlimited number, not weight, though the weight could use some adjustement on some items anyway
I want to be able to carry any number of potions, bombs, etc I want to, not be limited to the arbitrary numbers we have now like max 2 bombs or 3 potions of any type.
That I can only equip one or two types I dont mind, that just means I need to think about how I prepare which makes it more challenging and fun.

But if I want to carry 17 potions why should I not be allowed to, why must I be limited to 3?
And why should I need to meditate to replenish my potions, not to mention that you only need one ingredient to make more when you do, that makes no sense to me
The logical thing would be for me to have to make them myself using ingredients I find like you do in most other RPG games.

I swear these games are becoming more and more simplified, pretty soon the game will play itself for you if they keep going like this.

In my opinion they basically work as if they were an item with a certain number of charges on them
Just craft any type of potion you have the mats for and you will see it in your inventory listed as 3/3.
Use one and you see it have 2/3, and when you meditate it replenishes automatically to max, if you have enough alcohol for it.

I would rather see a system like Skyrim where you can make and carry as many as you like.
And if you carry 17 and then use one, you should have 16 left, rather than have say 16/17 left.

Oh I agree with you there.
They should fix performance issues and bugs first, I can live with the backwards alchemy system until that is done as its at least working as it is.

Ahh ok sorry I was a little confussed, as for your issues with traders. I feel the same way, although there is a mod currently which should fix this :)

After patch 1.05 the games stuttering appears to still be present, if not worse than 1.04? CD Projekt what on Earth is going on here?

I should have resisted that patch damn it. What the flying fuck am I suppose to do with 40+ mutagens that can't be combined together? Yeah, yeah there's a supposedly fix for that but why do I have to do that? It was working before and now it's broken?

I'm seeing people also that are not moving and just stands there with both hands in the air specially in Novigrad. Haven't seen that in 1.04 or 1.03. Why all of a sudden? What's going on here CDPR?

Hmm have you done any modifications to the game at all, if not maybe try verifying the game either with GoG or Steam versions. Does it happen everywhere or just in a few places.

Sounds like the animations of the characters aren't working...?
 
That's the odd part. I have no mods at all. And have a fresh new version of the game. Man, I really should stop updating Witcher 3.

I use the Steam version... which has no beta patches to allow me to revert, CD Projekt need to start adding their patches as BETA's first because they either lost all coding knowledge or just don't care anymore.
