GPU technology has increased dramatically over the last couple of years, CPUs not so much. What do you expect?
You can play on the i9 9900k for probably another console generation or two. But playing on a top notch GPU from that time frame not possible. GPUs you need to upgrade every generation, CPUs you can keep for a generation or two.
Your trying to play the game on a GPU that is more than half a decade old...
Need to go down to 1080p or lower, and reduce settings to play on a GPU that old
as I see you do not really understand what this topic is about. many people here have a computer that meets the recommended system requirements, but in the end they cannot even get stable fps
Have the same problem. I have to play on low, but with my specs I should be able to play on high. I'm really dissapointed. I was hoping for great optimalization, but I was wrong. I wont upgrade because I have recommended. So I hope that some patches will fix this and I'll be able to play on high how I supposed to.

Exactly, thank you. Lots of people have great rig and they also cant get stable FPS. I also meet recommended 1080p high and I play it on medium with 45-60 FPS.
They just doesnt undestand what it means to us. They have their NASA expensivec rigs and doesnt give a damn about us and our problems. We have been falsely shown the recommended requirements that we meet, and we still can't play with stable FPS. They don't understand it, but it annoys us very much.
So you better not get involved into this and just go and play this well-optimized game on your NASA PC.....
Why do you think video gaming as a streaming service has a market now?
In order to play the latest AAA games at 4k with RTX on at a reasonable frame rate you need the latest hardware which amounts to a PC that costs a couple thousand dollars with water cooling.
Or you can just stream the game on Stadia if you have fast internet.
Did you really expect to play the game on 8 year old CPU and GPUs?
THIS IS NOT A BAD THING!!! By the time the technology is common place to play this game at 4k with RTX on at a reasonable cost, the game will look amazing for years and years to come.
Splash screen starts off at 250+ FPS for the first few seconds while the CD Projekt Red logo appears, and during which the Windows mouse pointer is still visible (in the below clip you can see I move the pointer to show that it is smooth; FPS is still good). With the first video effect/static sound, the FPS plummets to 10-12 FPS, which does not change no matter what settings I use. This is during the epilepsy disclaimers, etc. during which there should be no stress on the GPU. I performed a clean uninstall and install of Nvidia drivers; no change. I also tried disabling the GeForce Experience overlay and also uninstalled Experience entirely, but to no avail.
What is going on after the first few seconds that cripples the game?
GFYcat link below, in which you can see the before/after--you can see the video effect on the logo smooth in the beginning and then FPS plummets:
I just wanna share, that on m I7-10700k and RTX 2070 S game is running as expected.
I had 2560 x 1080 @60 fps indoor, almost everything maxed, outdoor it sometimes dropped a few fps lower so I tuned 2 or 3 positions in settings 1 step down and now it's stable.
Having the same issues as some other folks here. Granted my CPU isn't the best but not that bad either.
AMD 3600x
RTX3080
16GB ram
3440x1440
I am having some pretty major performance issues. Cant seem to get above 60 regardless of the settings. Mostly sits around 30-45fps. I dont think thats normal for this game. CPU usage is only hitting 48% and GPU usage at 40%. I guess we just have to wait for them to fix it with a patch?
But did you honestly believe the recommended specs? Playing the game on 8 year old hardware?
That should have raised some flags. a i5 3750k and a GTX 780 lol?
Notice that there's nothing here about FPS? I'm suspecting they left that out because it was 30 FPS
So believe the recommended specs, they are correct, in the sense there's no frame rate specified
Although klokantokan, the latest consoles are 8 core 16 thread, but I think there's something else wrong
5600x should be able to run it ok, it's only 2 core less, and i don't think the game is optimized for 8 core 16 threads, just know that the latest xbox and PS have a better cpu i believe then you do

See that's a problem of hardware not being utilized. GPU should go up to close to 100 % in game
That's not the issue of using really old hardware, but hardware not being utilized
RTX 2060 + i5 7600K + 16GB RAM here, getting less 20ish fps on crowded areas even with everything on Low (1080p), changing it to Ultra barely changes FPS, which just confirms it's not hardware related, i've tried both the "Clean DDU driver reinstall through nvidia website" and the update windows to it latest version (also through windows website), none worked, some people claim a clean windows reinstall works, but i refuse to have to do that just to play a game, especially since the other solutions that people have found didn't work for me, hope i don't have to wait weeks for a patch.
So i got an Intel I9 9700 , 2080S , 32RAM shouldnt i be able to play the at least at medium settings? Because my CPU usage was at around 80% to 100% while playing the Steetkid tutorial.

Using a Ryzen 7 3700x, 2080 Super FE, 32gb 3000mhz vengeance pro. Getting a max of 60 frames on medium settings, even optomised settings using Nvidia's Geforce game optomiser gets same results. I should be running alot higher than that. I'm on a 240hz g-synce monitor with the 240hz option enabled and seeing no more than 60fps. 50 on average. Shows how badly optomised this game is even on higher end systems. Love the game but performance is killing me
I don't think I've ever been so disappointed by a video game company.
Thank you, CDProjekt, thank you for making us wait for eight years and three postponements, thank you for putting on the official page of the game that my GTX 1060 would run the game on high and not allow me to play even on low. I don't care playing at 30 fps as long as they are fluid, instead, in shootings, my fps is dropping to 15.
You have acted like the companies you have always criticized. Nvidia must have given you a lot of money to bury the entry cards and make the game accessible only to those who can afford an RTX.
Thank you, CDProjekt, for taking money out of my pocket, with a lot of effort for being unemployed and believing that at the end of the year in the middle of a pandemic, I would be able to have fun.
.... same her.... playing on a gtx1060/Ryzen5 3600.... i didnt even try to get out the first bar into the open world with 20-30 frames on medium.... how much frames will i have in the open world + fights? 5-10 frames?
