Phantom Liberty Tour announced

+
August 20th is a Sunday. So while that makes sense lore wise and would be cool... it would be highly unusual for a game to release on a Sunday.
Beat me to it.

Even our prediction of July 4th is a slight stretch given a Friday release is optimal, it's saving qualities being quite a few games still release on Tuesday, the value of associating your product with a holiday and the implications.

Random youtuber guessing the PL release day is August 20, because that was the day when Johnny did his Arasaka bombing.View attachment 11354392

Well, Random YouTuber is wrong, because games don't come out on Sundays.

Cyberpunk came out on a Thursday. Given the title, and games have been coming out on Fridays more often, I wouldn't be surprised of a July 4th release date. However, the whole Tour thing is a wrench in this.

Well, from what others have stated apparently TW3 did the the same thing. They held community events in different locales to demo for the general public leading up to release a month from their initial marketing pitch... apparently the previous teasers don't count in this case so 'whatever'.

Given how much money has been dumped into this thing I'm expecting an outrageous marketing campaign, especially if it's over the course of a month, they'll certainly need it to get people's attention with other studios prepping campaigns for full release games coming through fall and winter.

I´m really excited to hear they will be commin´to cologne, maybe I´ll stop by to see what all the fuzz is about^^.

But for real: I think big advertisement is quite important for the dlc as CP got bashed a lot upon and after its release. I did not play the day 1 version, but reviews were disastrous. When I tell people how much I love the game they are always like " meh meh day 1 meh meh, so bad....". So maybe they are trying to bring those guys back too ;). Of course I can´t wait to play PL, but I can totally wait for them to take their time to finish it , doesn´t matter when they started the advertisement.

Yeah. And July 4th isn't some pipe dream idea, I just hope the game comes out sooner or anything like that. It fiscally makes sense for CDPR to drop the game in June or early July if at all possible. August is absolutely loaded with Armoured Core and BG3. September has Starfield. Spider-Man 2 will be dropping sometime late Q3 or Q4. And within the next few days I imagine we see the holiday release window get absolutely loaded up with releases.

Makes sense for them to release it before the big rush, get their sales in and then be able to peddle the 'Definitive Edition' or whatever it will be called around the holidays so people can buy the base game and expansion together.

Maybe they can't hit those dates. But from a money making standpoint that is what makes the most sense to me. And money tends to talk.

Since Phantom Liberty will be out soon lets sink into dumpster fire called Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One X with (future) DLC bundle. And CDPR refund program for unreleasing exactly this one DLC on it lol

In YOUR opinion, CDPR has a lack of goodwill built up. I'd say that by sticking with the game and continuing to fix it, they have built up more goodwill since the launch, judging by how many have given it a second chance or a first chance since then. But alas, to some, nothing they do will ever be good enough. Holding grudges is not healthy.
LOL grudges are for B-rate action movies and certain Asian horror genres.

What you're doing on the other hand is gatekeeping. A spade is a spade. [...]

for one its "good will" - for others the bar minimum to expect. both sides argue since launch. its obvious whos on which side. voice of customer is quickly claimed nag, even its the truth if one would take down the rainbow-sunglasses. ^^

Yeah, June-July are the best spot for a 2023 release for sure. I still maintain the same feeling I've had that July 4th is the target, and I'll be considering a lottery ticket purchase if I'm right after having mapped this stuff pretty well the last 6 or so months.

I can't help but share my thoughts on those titles you mention though. While I love both of said franchises; BG3 is a new installment for an old game series fostered by an aging fanbase following a length early access period. Armored Core is a cult classic and the last major installment was... ten years ago? maybe more? It's largely elevated in stature by the success of Elden Ring and Dark Souls. I've only seen one trailer, but I've no doubt Bandai is beating that drum and I'm not sure how well it will work out. Lies of P might be more competitive for Auguest attention than either of those if I'm being honest, but a firm date isn't announced so we could see that one slip. Hell, FFXVI comes out at the end of June but that's a PS timed exclusive as they usually are.

After that - it's a vicious free for all. What a year to have nearly no time for games. Goddamnit.
