Philippa Eilhardt questline

Wehen Radovick sent me out to find Philippa, I lied at him, she would be dead.
In the cave I found a magical something (a crystal? srry, I forgot), and it was mentioned, I should show it to Tris.
But Zoltan told me, Tris would not be any more in Novigrad - witch was wrong, because I persuadet her to stay, after escorting all the magicians to the ship...
Later, when we try to resemble all magicians for the last fight, I had to chase Philippa.

What irritates me, that Gerald simply could have told Philippa, that he protected her, so all the fighting would not have ben neccesary.
Second irritates me, that the magical something did not play any role any more - especially because Tris was the one who initiated the search of Philippa.
In total, the whole Philippa quest line seams very inconsistent to me - but may be I have overseen something?

Well, remember that Philippa screwed Geralt and Triss over pretty hard in TW2. She knows that he knows. So of course, she doesn't believe that he has her best interests in mind.

I will say though that in the mission you have to take Philippa with you after that, there should absolutely have been an option to pick someone else to go with you.
